This HAS to be THE BEST used bookstore I've EVER visited in my 53 years!!!!!!! Excellent selection of used books, DVDs, and CDs. Both my wife and I found quite a few deals here. I've even found a few treasures I DIDN'T even know existed. Whomever donated these REALLY did their homework, and MUST have been SERIOUSLY involved in the SAME hobbies and interests as long as I have (since the 1970s!!!!). On the 3rd Saturday during the months of February, June, and October, they have a store sidewalk sale here, with PRETTY GOOD deals. My wife and I ALWAYS look forward to returning here. Came in for a first time visit and we were greeted brightly upon entering, but that was it. We have never been here before, didn't know the store layout or how anything works. I had to look it up online to see they actually sell books as it strongly resembles a library. There were a few older women behind the counter, not one offered any help or asked if we had any questions, that would be a nice thing to do especially if you're coming in with young children. We ended up with a few kids' chapter books for $3.50 so that was a pleasant surprise as I didn't realize the prices were marked on the inside pages. They had an issue with payment and accepting Venmo so I ended up using a credit card and were offered a sheet of stickers upon leaving. Great concept, except for the mother who was reading obnoxiously loud to her child inside the store, I feel like we should all be using indoor voices if we're trying to simulate a relaxing library environment. This bookstore, along with the one over in Town Square, are both outreaches for the Murrieta Library. It might be the cleanest, most well organized bookstore I've ever been in. The quality of their books are also outstanding, with many of their hardcovers having those protected plastic covers on them. It is staffed with many volunteers. Tons and tons of books which are all reasonable prices. Incredible. read more

I've got to make it back to this bookstore! I forgot how much I love it. I've visited a few times and taken advantage of their outside sales. It makes you feel like you're really getting away with something, when you get a good deal. LOL! Guilt free though. I just wear a big smile for my wonderful purchases. As a voracious reader, I've spent hundreds of dollars at this store, often donating my purchases back for them to sell again. But I'm not sure I will ever go back there again. The manager, a retired teacher, appears to have a seething disdain for the public, especially children and people with disabilities. For the past few years, I've bit my tongue as she loudly complained about a particular politician and griped about customers not reshelving books to her standards. A few months ago, I brought my adult son who has Down syndrome with me. He wears his Covid mask but has an aversion to the sticky gel hand-sanitizer the manager insists you squirt on your hands upon entry. Instead of giving me a chance to handle the situation with my son, she got angry and demanding with him. I was speechless when she told him she was going to to call the police on him, if he didn't squirt that gross goop on his hands. Since then, I made sure to bring my own sanitizing wipes or spray to keep her fury at bay. I was determined not to let this sourpuss ruin our outings. But when we approached the store today, I could see her scowling and complaining inside to others in the store at the sight of my son. I sprayed his hands with sanitizer, help him put on his mask, but the minute we walked into the store, she immediately began scolding him. It was truly disgusting. Later, when she began berating him again as we stood in line, I told her he has a medical clearance and I would bring it next time. To which she replied that he still would not be allowed in the store, medical release or not. Another customer reminded her that was not legal. She got angry and stormed off. Sadly, I doubt I'll ever shop there again, which will surely please her. She's the manager, so there's really no one to complain to. But this lady is off her rocker. A serious control freak. As a volunteer here of course I feel it's a great store. The biggest used book store of all the local libraries. Clean and well organized. Lots of inexpensive books and the proceeds go to help the Murrieta library. We take books in as donations so this helps the community. read more

I stopped here during a trip to wine country. This was an incredible bookstore that offers so much to their community, from raising funds for local libraries to offering discounted books for high school students. I would have loved a bookstore like this in my community growing up. Had a well-curated, organized selection of fiction, including typical mass market bestsellers to more newly published niche works. Sad I don't live closer so I can visit more often! read more

I am biased because I volunteer here two times a month, but we have a great selection of books. Also, we now accept credit cards and venmo! I've been to many charity bookstores in the area and this is by far the biggest and nicest one. The prices are very reasonable with the most expensive hardcovers usually under seven dollars, and a ton of books at a dollar or less. The staff here seems cranky almost every time, the prices for some of these used books are higher than other used bookstores. They also only accept cash or check which is very inconvenient. The Goodwill bookstore off Winchester and Ynez has a lot less, but I always find a lot of great books with much better prices. The newer books are not hiked up in price either, and their staff is much nicer. read more

I can't believe you guys found some Jane Eyre first editions! It's amazing what you can find in some of these places sometimes. I love shopping at used bookstores that are helping to make the community better. I believe this bookstore is donated over $1 million to the town greatly helping with children's literacy efforts. I almost gave them one star but the store was very clean! At first the employees were very friendly...Explaining their system of organizing the books. Then a wet spot on the carpet appeared and two employees started talking about a mother that was there with a stroller blaming her for it and talking rudely about how long she's been in the store (mind you this customer was in fact still in the store getting ready to pay for her books). One lady told a boy he wasn't allowed to touch the little toys for sale near the register even though he was being super calm and respectful. My sister and I were there with my 8 & 9 year olds and had both been suggesting different books to my boys. I watched my children like a hawk... I always make sure they're on their best behavior in stores. An employee still found it necessary to tell my child that he was not allowed to even touch a children's book that was on an end cap. The employee claimed that those books were "giftable" since they were nice looking. Are we supposed to now buy books without looking inside them? I left without buying any books and will not be going back. It's sad because my kids actually love to read and I spend a lot on books throughout the year. I will not be going back. The store idea is great but the older ladies running it are driving away customers. Update: I have in fact been back and can say that the ladies there were great. I love the store attached to the Library best because the lady there was amazing and friendly, even suggesting books for my kids. Still remember to take cash but it's worth checking out both stores. read more

I loved bringing my girls into the Corner Store in Murrieta. However today while there the manager was asking a mother with a son who is Down syndrome to leave because he couldn't keep his mask on. The mother stated that he has a doctors note stating he can't wear one and the manager did not care. I spoke up and said that per the state mandate anyone with a medical reason does not need to wear one nor show proof that they have a medical reason. The mother was wearing one and tried to have her son wear one but he didn't understand. The mother paid for their books and left. The manager then proceeded to come talk to me telling me that the boy needs to wear a mask and that they're always in there and he won't wear a mask. I said he clearly is special needs and doesn't understand masks or germs or the reasoning behind this all and that we need to give grace and treat each other as human beings and not walking germs. I told her the state mandate clearly protects people like him with medical issues. She proceeded to shake her fists at me getting super angry and walked away. I kept looking around the store with my 14 year old daughter and near the historical fictions section could hear her talking about me to another volunteer who had just come in. I set my books down near her and said she was being extremely unprofessional discussing me while I'm in the store and that I wouldn't be buying anything from there again and left with my daughter. The volunteers at this store need to know the whole mandate outlined by the health department and need to stop discriminating against disabled people. They also need to not gossip in front of customers. I was never rude or angry the whole time we were talking and am still stunned at what happened. read more

I redownloaded Yelp just to give this place a review. It's a cute, clean, and well-run shop. The ladies working were very helpful and seemed thrilled to be of any help they could. They were more than lovely to my 6 year old who was antsy and just wanted to get home. I got 2 books for a very reasonable price. While I do not know of any of the details that are being mentioned about a recent episode, I can clearly and strongly proclaim that the manager does not have any issues with disabled people. I know this firsthand as my daughter has a disability and was welcomed with open arms to volunteer there. She has been working at the bookstore for 3 years now (in between college semesters) and is treated as an equal in every way. I also know that this manager has "hired" other individuals with disabilities. While you may have every right to be upset, if the facts are true since we hear only one side of the story on this forum, you do not have the right to accuse this person of being hateful or discriminatory against disabled individuals. read more

i have been going to this book store for years upon years . my kids obtained books from their school reading lists here and also fun extra books they chose. they always enjoyed stops in. i've brought my elderly mother here and turned on people in my neighborhood to this store. They all love it. it's so well organized , clean and inviting. as you walk in you see that masks are required and that you are asked to used hand sanitizer . that makes me feel very comforted. the volunteers have always been extremely helpful. The manager has ALWAYS been helpful and friendly to me, my kids, my mother, and my neighbors. i'm asking my fellow neighbors on this site to please not go on a smear campaign to try to run off hard working volunteers who are giving so much to our community, ESP during the pandemic and despite their possible health risks. This pandemic is very serious and to be extra sensitive about health mandates isnt going to help anyone. read more

WOW! What else can you say about this awesome find? I just bought the collector's James Bond books which are normally pricey for $1.25 each. And they were brand new!!!! For real, this is the place to buy used books if you don't want to get them on Amazon. P.S. If i bought the same books on Amazon, I still would have paid more. So hurray!!! read more

This small bookstore is right off the Murrieta Branch library. It's small, but carries a pretty varied selection of popular fiction, romance, and other books. The selection often changes since library patrons donate their books as well as pick up new ones. New paperback releases are often $2 vs. $1 for older books. They have larger bookstore off of the 215/ Los Alamos exit that has a wider selection. read more

This bookstore is awesome. It's a used bookstore owned by the Murrieta Library but it's not located in the library. It's located far away from the Murrieta library actually. It's located in some shopping outlet. It's big for a used bookstore. It's clean and well-organized. The prices are awesome too; most of the books are normally under $5.
