My son loves this place. He won't let anyone cut his but Rich. That's why we've been going here for years.

Visit overview This was the second time visiting Catalyst Barber Co. in Gladstone, and the experience stayed consistently excellent from start to finish. Jacob cut your hair this time, and the service confirmed that this shop delivers the kind of quality that makes it a regular go-to. Barber Jacob Jacob was very professional, especially for a younger barber, and clearly knew what he was doing from the moment the cut started. You told him exactly what you wanted, and he followed through perfectly, giving you the look you asked for with confidence and attention to detail. Hot towel and straight razor The hot towel treatment was a standout part of the appointment, adding a relaxing, almost spa-like touch to the whole experience. Jacob's straight razor work was smooth, clean, and comfortable, showing real skill and making the haircut feel like a full grooming service, not just a quick trim. Overall impression Between two great visits and this especially good experience with Jacob, Catalyst Barber Co. in Gladstone has earned your business going forward. You plan to continue getting your haircuts here and would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a professional barbershop with skilled barbers and a high-end feel

Went here for several months and tried three of the different barbers there. Wasn't overly happy…read morewith any of them. One of them was decent but none of them could cut my top evenly. It was always crooked and they didn't spend very much time trimming the top. It always felt like a minute of trimming and they were done. I would always go home and find spots that looked like they weren't even cut at all. My fade was not always even either and one of the guys there for some reason decides to fade my sides with scissors. This resulted in an uneven fade and I had to come back one time because it was so bad. It seems like all the barbers cut differently and don't have the same training. I gave this place a fair shot but don't think I'll be coming back anymore.

Hair is too short. I DIDN'T want a high military style fade and that's exactly what Ru gave me. Horrible listener.

Now, not to say you can't get a nice haircut here, but for those of us who went here for years, you will probably want to throw-up. I have landed on John as my go to barber if anyone needs a recommendation, but everyone there seems to wield their sheers handedly. I love that I can walk in after work during the week, sit right down in the chair, enjoy some good conversation and then walk back out looking much better than I did going in and only be out $20 and about 20 minutes. The actual haircut is only $14 so tip what you like, I just enjoy the ease of handing the barber a twenty, shaking his hand and heading out. I think another reason I like this place is the longevity of it. I don't know how long it has been around, but I do know that I had my first haircut there in 1982 and then literally every single haircut there after until I moved away in 2000. It was pretty great to walk back in in 2012 and still recognize 3 or 4 of the barbers, still in there same spots. I just felt comfortable instantly. A typical cut in my experience is just what you might expect from a barber. Wet the hair down, comb it up nicely, cut with sheers, trim with trimmers and then straight edge for a crisp clean look on the neck. A quick blow dry, a check to make sure everything is good and you're done. That easy. If you live north of the river, or not, and want a great local barber to treat you right: Barbers Plus, it's that easy.

So I'm new to Kansas City and I got my first haircut from a place downtown(I cant remember the…read morename) and it was a pretty bad cut. The lady was extremely nice that gave it to me...but it was bad. I traveled to Columbus, OH a week later for work and visited a highly rated place to try and fix the cut. That experience wasn't that great either. I figured I was just fortunate to get awesome fades from my normal spot in Chicago. So tonight I called around to the top rated yelp spots to get a cut. I called late in the day so only 2 places had openings. The first place i went to had 2 old guys in an old dirty shop that didn't seem to care if I was there. I ended up walking out and called around to more places and Knockouts was able to get me in. The place was easy to find with good parking and the girl who answered the phone was really nice (I'm pretty sure it was the same person who cut my hair - Drew). When I walked in, the ambiance was much cleaner compared to the other two places I had been to. It was also modern and had good music playing. The lady that checked me in offered me a complimentary beverage, which was a choice between a couple different pops and a couple of different beers. At this point I fell in love with the place and could already tell I'd get a good cut from the cleanliness and professionalism I observed. I did have to wait a little longer than quoted but the beer wiped out any worries and I was just grateful to have an appointment (2 days before Thanksgiving). When Drew called me back to cut my hair she immediately apologized for the wait and seemed sincere. She was very kind and professional. She was engaging in conversation but made sure to move my head where she needed it so she could cut straight. The only negative was that she apologized too much. Haha. No, in all honesty it was the best haircut experience I've ever had. They shampoo before and after the cut and she gave me a great head massage and trimmed my beard. As long as Drew works here I will be back. I'd be willing to bet the rest of their staff is pretty good too. Thank you!

I stopped bye at least 4 other haircut places in St. Joseph on this day and they all had long wait…read moretimes of 45 minutes or more. Knockouts had nobody in the shop except The manager Marissa M. oddly enough. She got me in with no appointment and had me sitting in the waiting area for 25 minutes while she Spoke with several people on her personal cell. She was not paying attention to what she was doing at all. Her boss was calling her on her cell during the cut and upsetting her. I asked for about 1 inch off the top and ended up with 2 inches coming off basically giving me a flat-top instead of a standard fade. Hair looked very rough for a few weeks after this cut. She literally changed my hairstyle and brushed my hair all forward which made it pop straight up when it dryed. Her people skills were not bad, but she honestly didn't listen to a single word I said to her. Haircut included a few extra perks, I simply asked to skip them if possible and then at the end I was charged for all of it. Only good part about the service was the free drink at the end. I would not suggest letting the manager do your haircut if she even has this job still
