I had gone to Mr Sutton's salon based on a friends experience and recommendation. The Salon was difficult to locate and directions were poor. This condo complex can be confusing. Had they simply mentioned their store front faced the Audi dealership, it would have been easier to find. Regardless he was nice enough to come out and guide me. This is why he gets one star from me.
My experience did not get better. He kept talking about how behind he was with appointments and I was rushed. This, I do understand and I tried to be brief yet I also wanted to feel like a valued new prospect especially since I was referred to him by a mutual friend. I originally wanted just a cut but I discovered he did color too. I entertained possible color work. I told him what I wanted but I did not feel heard and it felt as though he was just going to do what he wanted. This was discouraging. He also used intimidation tactic by saying " I could just do the color lift and leave your hair blond" This would not have looked good and to suggest it was insulting. I just responded , "sure and I will just go dye it myself". He did not like that and after some back and fourth , he decided to remind me of his time crunch situation. Despite all this, I decided it was best we stick to a hair cut. I did not feel comfortable to move forward with a dye without further discussion. He did say to me at one point: " I don't think we are compatible", this was rude. WE spoke for about 10-15 mins tops. He does not know me and hes making a judgment of me under his time pressure. Also, a mutual friend recommended him to me. either way, we scheduled a hair cut for 11.28.18. I was going to go through with it and give him the benefit of a doubt since we had a mutual friend and I understand his time crunch pressure may have been affecting his attitude. I did not think he was really this rude. He is southern so, "southern hospitality" right?
Well, he later called and cancelled my appointment in voice mail. He said "I don't think we are compatible" ... I don't know what business he thinks he's in but customer service is seriously lacking with him. I was a prospect, I was referred to him and his behavior twords me was insulting. He acted like someone who has an inflated head and ego. Inflated and disrespectful attitudes cross both non-binary, color lines and It is never acceptable behavior in the service industry.
There are plenty other Salons in town who treat their customers with dignity and courtesy. Having your hair done by someone new can be nerve racking. Cory Sutton is the last person I recommend for a cut or color. read more
