There is 1 trainer per class that will help to push you and ensure you maintain the correct form. This gym truly is different that your $20 membership you may pay for. They have other locations around Buffalo & Rochester. This gym is known for their 20 lbs/6 week Challenge. I urge you to be realistic on if you'll meet these goals. $600 is a lot to lose to a gym. You can only but month-month or a year long membership. No individual classes. 3x per week is about $100. Unlimited is about $170. Expensive gym but worth it if you can afford it. Staff is nice and will get to know you and your life. Makes you feel like a part of the gym family. Not open on Sunday. They do sell protein powder and supplements. $50 for a large protein bucket. While I joined Core Capacity in Rochester, NY I am reviewing a Buffalo location because Core in Rochester just shut it's doors quickly and quietly, closing the last Rochester Location (Henrietta) last minute with no warning. I originally joined in January 2019 - did my 6 week challenge and lost 20 lbs. If you don't read the fine print, you will miss that you also need to lose a specific percentage of body fat on top of the 20 lbs. They don't like to mention that though, so know what you are getting into. Every trainer I worked with in the Henrietta locations was fantastic! Helpful and motivating, just fun, down to earth people. The management and administration is a complete other story. They are not helpful - and that is assuming they ever return an inquiry. They left Rochester high and dry. Literally left town and took members money. To this day (3/10/21) they have not responded to our concerns for refunds even though they closed early last Fall. Shame on you Core Capacity. I believed they were sketchy from the start, yet I made the decision to go ahead with the shortest membership possible because I didn't trust them, but loved my challenge results. I wish I had gone with my gut. There is a long list of members with complaints and we are working on getting our voices heard. Just about everyone was very nice and friendly and I did enjoy the workouts. The workouts got me into the best shape of my life, I didn't reach the goal which I'll explain later but I was much more toned and physically capable after the 6 weeks But the program is very misleading and you don't get the full picture of what your life is going be be like on this program until after you've handed them the money. I said several times during my intake that I was having trouble coming up with the money, and at one point they put me on a payment plan. I ended up paying all at once but what I'm saying is they knew I am not made of money. Yeah, you get your $500 back if you lose the weight, but the diet they put you on costs $100 a week, at least. They put you on what's basically a body builder's Paleo diet, with huge servings of produce and lean meat 6 times a day. It's a lot of food, at least for me. At one point the fruit servings came to me eating more than an entire pineapple in one day. I'm 5'0 and at the time weighed 130, I'm kinda tiny and couldn't eat as much as they wanted. They have this one size fits all approach to fitness, saying that if you do it it works no matter what and of you can't do it you're not trying hard enough. I know almost nobody who has the time to prepare and eat as much food as they require. The gym membership they're going to ask you to buy after is $50 a week for the full thing. They don't mention that to you up front though. I would recommend this program as a last resort. If you've seen nutritionists and doctors and personal trainers and still can't get the weight off, give this a try. I know it's worked for a lot of people. I had already lost 10 pounds already when I started, and the program actually really threw me off track and it took me a while to get to losing weight again. Please consult your doctor before you join a program like this, ask them if it's safe for you to be doing vigorous exercise and switching suddenly to a diet with 6 large meals a day. Highly overweight individuals, anyone who could be categorized as morbidly obese, could get seriously hurt doing the kind of exercise they have you do. Walking, seated exercises and swimming are safest for individuals that size so they don't risk falling or putting too much pressure on their joints. If you're reading this and not sure about doing it. DO IT! I was up in the air about it for a few months. I have to say it's completely worth it. The trainers, coaches, other competitors, and even the desk staff are over the top! This community has made me feel welcomed, and helped me reach my goal. I feel like I did when I was in high school sports, maybe even better! I did the 20lbs in 6 weeks challenge and did successfully complete. I am now trying out the 3 week core athlete challenge. I had a great experience joining the 6 weeks 20 pounds challenge, but not enough to become a member of the gym. The weight loss program worked out really well for me. I lost 23 pounds and 7% body fat. I was determined no to loose my $600! The workouts were fun and dynamic, but they keep the same routine for a block of 4 weeks, which I think it's way too long, and I got really bored during the last 2 weeks. I would have hope to see a change every other week. The instructors were nice, but sometimes, when I was trying a new move, they would say it out loud it the microphone that I was trying to be a show off....that was kind of embarrassing for me because that was not the case at all. I did my workouts for myself and to push myself, not the "show off". Aside from it, I liked the overall experience, and I would recommend it as a nice change from your regular workouts at the gym and if you wish to shred 20 pounds or to loose some body fat. read more

This is a good program to learn how the proper food combined with exercise will promote weight loss. The money-back guarantee is somewhat misleading due to the clause in the contract requiring you to be under 50 lbs of body fat, as measured by the device at the gym. I lost 22.4 pounds, but was at 54.4 pounds of body fat according to the percentage on the hand-held device. The contract does mention it and I discussed it with the employee who signed me up, however, it is not mentioned in the handbook distributed at the beginning of the 6 weeks and most people involved in the challenge did not seem to be aware of it. Because of the body fat percentage, I was offered the opportunity to do another 6 week challenge, which I accepted. I knew I would not lose another 20 pounds, that would be too low for me, even though it would bring me under the 50 pounds of body fat. During the second challenge, my knees began to hurt a lot, when I opted for upper body exercises to give my knees a break, I hurt my wrist. I want to stress that I came into this gym with bad knees and a previously injured wrist, I do not hold them responsible at all. The schedule was just too much for my body. Overall, This is a good program to learn what will work for your body to achieve weight loss. The social media aspect did not help me, but I am older than most of the other people I saw there. I look at this experience as paying $600 for 12 weeks of gym membership with access to personal training. read more

My personal experience with core capacity was very enlightening. I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of. Although it was extremely difficult on the weekends watching everyone enjoy their food, I had to remind myself that it only 3 weeks and that's the point of a challenge. The coaches and trainers were very helpful in giving fun ideas how to make our food so It wouldn't be so boring and I enjoyed learning how to make healthy food "fun". The classes were fun, upbeat and even if I went in with little energy I walked out feeling exuberant. I would even have extra energy to come home and go for a run around the block. I will continue my journey in the healthiest way because of the things I was taught at Core Capacity and I am excited to see myself keep up the results, now that I am well educated thanks to the coaches.
