I tried them last year and found it too pricy…read more But then as I went around to other places in town, I just kept thinking about this workout format and the way I felt after doing some of the workouts. I did a trial run earlier this summer, and just bit the bullet and joined after that. As a result, Ive been to this studio a number of times recently, I found tis location to be perfect some days. Its much smaller than the Tonawanda location, which is good and bad. Good because there are fewer people in each class, bad because its often full for each class. Ive never been here with more than one instructor, and at Tonawanda's there is almost always 2, if not three but I imagine that has to do with size of class. The format is this - They create 6 workouts (Mon-Sat) which they then do for 4 weeks. Each workout is designed to hit different areas of the body, and some days have more weight and less cardio than others, they mix it up. Each class starts with the same tape to get everyone stretched out and ready for the next 50 min. Then there is a short cardio burst to get the blood flowing, and a longer section with some burpees or squats or whatever they think of. Then you pay attention while the instructor shows you what each exercise of the day is. By week four those demos don't take quite as long, but they still cover them all each day, and show you the various different levels for each exercise. Well trained group of instructors. Then the class starts, usually that portion is between 22-25 min. as you go from exercise to exercise. There may be some sort of 3 min end exercise, they often involve squats Ive found. Then the same cool down tape plays and everyone does that. Class ends as the instructor brings everyone into the middle for a "tip of the day". Sometimes those are super interesting, other times they are so-so. I don't think those are spelled out from corporate, I think they make them up themselves, which could explain why some are better than others. They have improved their website experience by joining mindbody, so that's nice. There is another location coming in Cheektowaga this fall. I look forward to checking that out too. This place is the home of the "6 weeks 20 lbs" challenge, and you'll have challengers in most classes. I cannot stress enough how much support these people get from the instructors and members in their goals. Most hit the goals if they show up to class and follow the diet plan. I discovered this gym, in my search for places that offered drop in spin classes. Spin classes are offered 6AM Tuesday & 6AM Thursday , I believe 5: 30 pm on Tuesday evening as well. The classes are affordable with a low cost of $10, the class size is low, probably since its so early in the morning. Melissa is amazing, and didn't mind taking the extra few minutes to show me how to use the bike, and how everything worked. I love the option of not having a commitment to join the gym, and just being able to drop in for spin classes, as needed. It's a $100 program (those were the prices back in February although they may have been changed now) where you receive custom tailored workouts for your goals, encouragement with healthy eating and also some limited time with a health professional (who even went to LA Fitness) with me a few times to help demonstrate some of the workouts. I also recently attended their free Monday night workouts at Delaware Park. Every Monday, weather permitting, from 6:30 to about 7:15pm, HealthyWNY founder offers a free circuit training session. It's a lot of fun, very challenging, but still flexible enough to be great for people of all fitness levels. The $100 program is amazing. It's split up into three phases (Weeks 1-4, Weeks 5-8, Weeks 9-12) with a different workout in each phase. It's really helped me strengthen and tone my body in a structured way. The owner of HealthyWNY has been super helpful in showing me exercises when I didn't understand them and has met up with me 3 times at the beginning of each phase to help me understand the exercises. The program has definitely exceeded my expectations and I totally recommend checking it out for anyone interested in improving themselves. If anything, come out to Delaware Park one of these Mondays and do some circuit training and meet the guy!

I had sprained my ankle really badly a month or so before trying it out and I managed to do the whole workout! They give you options to modify any of the moves so you don't feel pressured, which is great because it really helps and keeps to motivated. One of the big things about working out is feeling discouraged sometimes cause it feels too hard. But working out in groups also helps too! Definitely worth checking them out I think their program is a GREAT deal and tailored to motivate people.

At first, Emily seemed open to working together, and I spent several days making arrangements, including coordinating orientation & mobility training so I could learn the best walking route to the gym. However, after I provided additional information to help her feel more confident, she abruptly backed out, saying she didn't feel comfortable training me -- despite my reassurances and past history of success in fitness environments. I'm posting this so that others with disabilities are aware that Move Wysely may not be prepared or willing to work with clients requiring any level of adaptation. If you are blind or otherwise require a trainer who is flexible and willing to learn, you may want to consider other options. I was disappointed by how this was handled, especially after not only putting in significant time and effort myself, but also involving my O&M instructor, who researched routes and adjusted her schedule to help me prepare. I hope Move Wysely takes this experience seriously and better prepares in the future to serve all potential clients.
