Me & my family then talked about Houston & I had no objections to it as I wanted to attend originally & I was happy to enroll starting the 2nd semester of my freshman year. With a fresh start to close out the school year. I adjusted to the environment & made friends within the first few months there before the summer break. With a New year & a fresh start I started checking out the sports & other programs offered. I ended up joining the Wrestling & Football which were just developing into the greatness they achieved throughout the 90's. Those are very excellent programs as the coach's are passionate on the field or may in edition to their classroom. The clubs offered at Houston are also excellent like BETA ,DECA , Pride,FCA just to name a few. From Mr. Clayton to Coach Taylor their head & assistant Principals have always been the greatest next to the teaching staff past & present. If I had a kid high school aged & lived in the area presently I would send my kid here. We went here with assurances that they would help him while challenging him as well. We were hopeful this place would work. It did not. They do not actually prepare your child for possible secondary education. In their opinion mediocre is "good". Their archaic forms of "teaching" if you can call it that is based on curriculum that they have had for 25 years! We were so disappointed. They prey on people who are desperate to find a place for their child who don't fit in with mainstream education. When we told them we wouldn't be returning the next year his grades all the sudden went from an A average in both quarters, failed a final he hadn't been prepared for and it counted as a 3rd of his total semester grade. This took his semester average down to a D! They are punitive if they know you will not returning. To this day they would never give an email address to use for communication. Who doesn't have an email address in this day and age! Once you sign the contract you are on the hook for the whole year. You have no actual documentation to back you up. They will not give you actual graded progress. Just send home a sheet with a check mark saying they are doing ok or needs improvement (you know like in Kindergarten) my son was in 10th grade! You don't get graded assignments back ect. They avoid any communication with parents once your child is actually enrolled.

The school is set on the edge of a wildlife reserve, and was built amongst swampy forest, with wildlife and plenty of trees to set a scene respectful of education and nature. The athletics at this school are obviously a priority. The fieldhouse is large and contains not one, but two gyms, workout space, ample locker rooms, and more. Our children take swimming lessons at the covered pool- also at the pool is where Memphis Thunder swim team practices. swimpoolschool.com for more info. The school is based in Christian education, though the idea lives more in the values of the school, and is not thrust upon students every day with drills. Kids get along, and are all different and have their own gifts & talents, which seem to be encouraged and supported.

Cordova High School I can remember watching this school from…read moreconcept and land clearing, through construction, and its first entering freshmen class as it added a new grade with each passing year. I lived for seven years in the nationhood just in front of the school and watched as many young nationhood men began their education there and move on to college well prepared. Today I had the opportunity to visit the school up close at a high school soccer game as the Wolf Pack hosted (and might I also say...Roasted) the Harding Lions. The student body that showed up was as diverse as they were polite and inviting to there guest team and families. There fans intermingled with the Harding fans and good sportsmanship was observed both on the field as well as the stands. Cordova High Soccer boasters were at the gate and welcomed Harding to the campus and the "Pitch". They even started up an outside grill and started cooking hot dogs and hamburgers and almost convened me to put my Yelp Foodie hat on and give them a food review too. Cordova outdoor sport teams were in full bloom this day as the soft ball squad, Tennis crew, Track and Field teams were all outside for a great day and practice. I cant speak directly to the inside workings of the Cordova High, but from an outsiders view and opinion, this school has a lot to offer to the Cordova community.

Most of us were trouble makers due to our disabilities. The school accepted us none the less. I'm 52 years old, and did finished my college with a BFA from Memphis College of Art. I've worked my way through technology up to a Database Administrator. None of that would have been possible if not for the Bodine School and it's founders the Bodine's.

Our relative was miserable in public school because he could not read nearly as well as the other…read morekids and felt inferior. This impaired both his self-image and his interpersonal relationships with other people. It was then determined that he had severe dyslexia. He became a student at Bodine. He did not know anyone there. Within a matter of weeks, he was a much improved person. He accepts his dyslexia, loves his teacher, has made lots of new friends, and has begun to read and write and do math at much improved levels of accomplishment, and this is after just the first semester. He looks forward to going to school. We could not be happier with Bodine. It is such a huge blessing for our relative and for our family. Also, without exception, the other parents who have shared their feelings with us about their offspring at Bodine have similarly expressed their high praise for Bodine.
