Hugh McGavick was exactly who I needed for my case. I had an employment related legal situation,…read morewhere my employer changed what we had originally agreed to for my retention. Originally, a bonus for my retention through a specific date was agreed to. Upon my last day, they sent a separation agreement that did not include this bonus, and even included wording that if I sign the separation agreement, I would be waiving all claims, obligations, etc. with the company, and it even specifically included bonuses. I obviously was concerned about this, but the company refused to amend the agreement to include the bonus they had already agreed to, and told me they would pay it out after I signed the agreement... an agreement that made them not legally liable to do so. I've never needed legal aid before, so I had no idea where to start, but I was able to find Avvo, which led me to Hugh. After I contacted him, explained the situation, and paid for his services, he went after the company quickly. He made sure to gather from me all the information he needed, and presented the facts to the company in an organized and clear way within one day of payment. , Hugh also cited the laws and governing bodies for Washington they were potentially violating. As I am someone who knows nothing about this sort of thing, it really was helpful to know how employment and wage laws in Washington applied to me and my case. The company wired the bonus quickly after Hugh's involvement, and Hugh is honest with billable hours as well. He sent me an itemized invoice after our business was concluded, that showed how he spent every moment on our case, and even refunded me part of the balance as I had initially paid for more time than was needed. I couldn't be happier with the help I received from Hugh! He is honest, worked hard for my case, kept the pressure on the company, and made sure I was satisfied with the results before considering his job done.

From our first call, Alex had already read everything I'd sent him and thought about it. He walked me through the reality of the situation -- what might work, what was unlikely -- and proposed a strategy. The haze around me started to lift, and I knew I was in safe hands. Throughout, Alex kept me up to date, building trust and explaining the strategy behind every move. When things felt terrifying I could confidently press ahead with this unflappable ally -- whether things looked hopeful or harrowing, he was coolheaded at every turn. Alex didn't just win my case. He gave me my life back. If you're reading this, you're probably where I was -- scared, overwhelmed, and not sure if it's even worth the fight. It is. Call Alex. You're going to be okay.

Alex Higgins cannot be recommended highly enough…read more From the moment you meet and talk with him, there is no doubt that you are working with someone who is intelligent, thoughtful and very skilled as a lawyer. He is highly organized and has an astute attention to detail yet doesn't get so lost in the details that he misses the broader picture. I never expected to find myself in a situation where I would need to find a lawyer. I'm not sure anyone really ever does. As a physician, I had no idea where to start and felt completely out of my element, until I met Alex and we reviewed the case. In our initial discussion, I immediately knew that Alex was someone I could trust. He was respectful and professional but also made it very clear he wasn't going to tell me what I wanted to hear. He was able to explain complicated law in a way that I could understand. During our meetings, it was clear that he was listening and had truly taken the time to understand the details. Never did I feel rushed or dismissed. I felt heard and taken care of like I imagine my patients want to be heard and taken care of. As my case progressed, Alex had the insight and professionalism to recommend that I continue my case with a more specialized firm instead of attempting to keep the work for himself and potentially do a lesser job. Regardless, even with the more specialized firm taking over my case, I continued to go back to Alex time and again with questions and concerns. I felt that his judgement and honesty could not be rivaled and it was comforting knowing Alex was still there. Ultimately, Alex and I decided to bring him back onto my case as co-counsel because I trusted his skill and expertise too much to not have him on the case. No one wants to go through this experience, but I feel incredibly lucky to have found Alex. It is in the rough times that the great people show themselves. Alex is one of the great ones out there.
