I don't have a ton of experience with lawyers or courts or small claims and I suppose that's a good thing but having seen and heard them cast in a negative light in the media or through friends and family I was a bit hesitant to engage one. But due to the nature of my problem (small claims court, where I was the claimant) I felt it was necessary when I found out that the defendant's insurance company was providing an attorney to the defendant. I called several places and I was met with lawyers that were either unresponsive, apathetic and uncaring, further perpetuating my negative view of them. To be honest, I had almost given up and with little expectation I called Corash & Hollender PC. After briefly describing my situation to the secretary I was surprised to be immediately transferred to Mr. Richard Corash. Mr. Corash, listened to my situation and then did something rather unexpected. He gave me free advice and told me exactly what I should do. I was shocked. He basically outlined a few steps for me to take and said, 'if you get a settlement using this method, great! No fee is due us. Take care." Did I mention I was shocked? I followed his suggestions but to no avail. I called him back two additional times. Each time he took my call and made additional suggestions. It ultimately wasn't effective as I had hoped but my faith in lawyers had been somewhat restored and because Mr. Corash had tried be helpful without requiring anything in return, I set up an appointment to meet with him and one of his associates, Mariam Zakhary. I met with Mr. Corash and Mrs. Zakhary, described the case and hired them on the spot feeling confident due to Mrs. Zakhary's extensive experience with litigation. Fast forward to small claims court on 6/18/2015. Not only did Ms. Zakhary come fully prepared clearly having boned up on case law, she did an excellent and thorough job that evening. It was a pleasure to watch her in action and immediately after the arbitration meeting I told her, regardless of the outcome, how pleased I was with her work and preparation and thanked her for her efforts. Paul Hollander is a gift from God. Mr. Hollander, saying thank you is not worthy enough for you. You actually got me my life back. My doctor literally lowered my anxiety meds. Even though I am still on disability, I am allowed to make a certain amt. of money. So now I have a part time job! Just a few hours a week. Mediblue Health accepted me in their suppliment plan. Along with medicare, I now have practically full medical coverage. I am working on rebuilding credit by using a debit card & actually have a credit card with a small limit.
