Really disappointed with this office. I booked an appointment 2 months ago in October to schedule my annual teeth cleaning for December and I called a day before my appointment to confirm my appointment and the receptionist told me they had forgot to put my appointment on their schedule. Super frustrating and they refused to accommodate me in any way, even though it was their error. this was my first time visiting this office since I was looking for a new dentist and chose this office because other family members come here and like it. I had to wait 2 months before getting an appointment which is reasonable. I saw the hygienist and she was very good, friendly and personable. she went over everything after doing my cleaning which went painless and kept asking if I was ok which I like. when setting up future appointments the receptionist was very kind and accommodated the days I needed to make appointment. In December 2023 I visited Selden Dental for the first time. The receptionist were courteous and polite. I was exrayed and the next visit I took impressions for full upper and lower dentures. For six months I was rescheduled because the upper denture was too loose and had no suction. Finally after 6 months of appointment after appointment I was given a set of dentures that are horribly fitted. I've never had that experience in the past. Terrible, wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

No lidocaine/Prilocaine used before sticking the needle in my gums was quite a surprise...and extremely painful. Then...using my bottom lip as a brace for prying my tooth out, left a giant blood blister on my lip. He didn't seem to care, very cold and assembly line type of office. The ONE saving grace was the dental assistant there to calm me down throughout. She was fantastic. I'll never be back, OR recommend this office to anyone. Ive been a patient there forever and treatment was good up to now. I have a fractured tooth and got an appt. I was in extreme pain and quite swollen. After seeing my regular dentist who put me on antibiotics, I checked out. They gave me a list of providers who may take my insurance instead of caling for me they left me on my own and in pain to fend for myself . I will NOT be returning. read more

I was referred to this office as a new patient. When I made the appointment, I was clear, I lost my crown. Receptionists were nice, as was the dental assistant. I had all my xrays taken. In walks a female Indian Dr, who doesn't acknowledge me (I don't know her name, as she never bothered to introduce herself) Dental assistant tells her I am a new patient (possible hinting to be warmer?) She nodded. Looked in my mouth for 20 seconds and said yes, your crown is out, make an appointment for a repair. I said, you are just going to leave me like this? She said there is no time today, you need to schedule another appointment and left the room. I looked at the assistant, and said, is she serious? The assistant was sympathetic, and understood. I made another appointment out of desperation, went home, made a few phone calls and found a real Dentist who took me and helped me. read more

WTF I had only been there once at this point. now I am in the middle of major oral surgery and don't even want to follow the here for my dentures! They didn't give me the option for teeth colored fillings and I didn't know any better until I recently went to another dentist and they asked me why I didn't get teeth colored fillings for my cavities. So, went here because my dentist was concerned about a pocket that needed to be cleaned. I was seen within a fair waiting period. Dr Turner was very nice. Took the time to explain my situation, he thinks there is a fracture that is "leaking" and causing a picket to form. Not sure if when he cleans it, it will alleviate the problem. So, let's see what your insurance will cover and what you'll have to pay and get you an appointment, we'll call you when we here hear from your insurance. Fast forward a few days. Got the call...$750.00. That includes bone grafting (huh? When did he mention that???), cleaning and meds. Excuse me!! Who has that kind of money laying around? And what bone graft? Not once did he mention that at the exam. So, now I see it's all about the money here. read more

They are absolutely the worst dentists on Long Island. They don't take your pain seriously, don't do proper exams, don't pay attention to patient care in the least. I am so disappointed in this dental office at 1st they were great kind I would have given them 10 stars. Now minus 10, I have been here several times for cleaning & procedures. they were great until they weren't I had a few teeth pulled which actually went fine, but over the New Year holiday I developed an infection in a tooth they had previously filled and was & still am in a lot of pain. I was advised the tooth needed to be pulled out it's infected. This is a tooth that they filled only a few weeks prior this isn't even the issues with this office. So they have an oral surgeon in once a month and unfortunately the availability was mid to end of February. I am having surgery the beginning of Feb. and this has to be resolved or no surgery. So now I need to find an oral surgeon and start antibiotics not so easy with my dental insurance. I finally found a new dentist that could fit me in, all I need is the referral entered so I can book an appointment, you would think I was asking for something that is ridiculous. it took 2 days to get them to send the prescription to my pharmacy and am still dealing with trying to get the referral, I reached out to my insurance company for help, and was advised they have still not sent in the referral I called back Selden Dental and was advised by Marra or Maria that she is the only person in the office (which is really not nor should it be my problem) when I asked to please do the referral and the insurance company wants you to contact them directly, she then advised me that they probably are not going to pay my bill, which I am responsible for. This is their customer care?? They have still not done the referral, day 2 for a patient with an infection which in reality they caused with the filling they did. If you acre about your health do not use this dental office, apparently they could care less. I am not happy about having to write this, I actually did like them and felt safe I never felt like they were trying to bilk my insurance. It's just when you have a medical situation you should be able to trust and know that your care team is helping you and actually gives a sh@*. I would much rather be writing a review about the great care I got, but that is not the case. Shame on you Selden Dental! read more

Very upset with this office. I went in and made it clear that I wanted to fix my chipped front teeth. The doctor misled me into thinking he'd be addressing that. Yet, only after everything was over did I realize he'd just given me fillings and that my central incisors looked as misshapen as ever. When I asked him about it, he then told me I'd need crowns to fix them. I was visibly upset but the doctor didn't care--he just wanted to go home for the day. Clearly, this dentist doesn't care about his patients. One more thing is that the equipment is disgustingly dirty. I could see dust and filth everywhere. I don't think they've wiped down anything in years. I'm furious. This is one of the worst offices I've ever been to. I won't be coming back. read more

This was the dentist recommended by my insurance company. I was unimpressed by my two visits to Selden Dental Group and will not be returning. My first experiences were pretty good. The website is easy to navigate, and you can send forms by email. I was even able to email them my panoramic xrays from a few years earlier. On the day of my appt (for both an initial exam and cleaning), 5 minutes before I was asked to be there, the office called and asked if I could come on a later date because they were running behind. I had taken the morning off work, and with such little notice I could not accommodate that request, but I told her I could wait. She said that was ok. However, when I got to the office, I was told that the woman on the phone (who had apparently left in the intervening 5 minutes) had actually rescheduled me for the following day anyway, so we had to reenter my info and I had to wait an hour. I don't see the need for plush, luxurious doctors' offices, and tend to equate posh waiting rooms with inflated health care costs. So the extremely spartan waiting room (uncomfortable stackable Costco chairs, faded inspirational poster) was not a warning flag. The place has a real "free clinic" or "Eastern bloc" vibe to it, so if you need posh, go elsewhere. There were no magazines, so bring a book. When I was called into the exam room, I was told I'd only be receiving an initial exam, and that the cleaning would be another day. This pissed me off a bit, because it doubled my inconvenience and doubled my co-pay, and because only an hour before they told me we'd still be able to get everything done in one shot. The exam rooms are also spartan, again not automatically a problem. One of the overhead fluorescent lights flickered the whole time, and the others were fairly dim. I can take spartan, but would prefer that the cost-saving measures err on the side of adequate lighting. Once my eyes adjusted, the first thing I noticed was that the equipment is not in good shape. The stand with the big lighted lens had rust spots, and the cover over its pneumatic height adjustment was taped together with packing tape. The tape edge was peeling and the exposed sticky side covered with dust. I looked into the spit basin and it was pretty gross - orangey-brown film all over the basin. After five minutes, the dental hygienist (very nice) came in to administer my bite-wing digital X-rays. They popped right up and it was cool to see them so fast. She was about to set up the panorama when Dr. Camesas came in and said no go. I hadn't had panos in four years, and my insurance would have covered it, but he thought it was unnecessary - I remember him saying "excessive testing is not good dentistry". I agree with him in principle, but I'd had a filling since then, as well as a bruxism diagnosis and treatment, so I was a little surprised. The initial exam was easily the shortest I've had. The doctor spent maybe three minutes total in the room looking at the X-rays and my teeth. There was no head/neck/mouth exam, and no questions about my history or habits. He touched a probe to one tooth for about .0001 second and pronounced me cavity-free. Fast forward two weeks. This time I got a call the day before, saying they double booked my slot and could I come in two hours earlier? I was able to, and even got a reminder call that evening with the new time. But when I arrived the next day, somehow the time had been changed again - two hours after my original appointment (4 hours after the new time). After I played them the message, magically I was able to be seen right away. Same room, same gross film in the spit basin. The hygienist was pleasant, but my teeth cleaning was not thorough. Normally they floss you, rinse, scrape with the tools, rinse, use the polish, thorough rinse, and your teeth feel smooth and clean all day. My hygienist skipped the flossing and went right to the polish. THEN the doctor came in and did a bit of scraping, again very short considering I hadn't had a cleaning in 18 months. Afterwards my teeth still felt gritty and unclean; I could even SEE the grit between my teeth! It took a bit of brushing and flossing to get all of the polish out. I've never been to a dentist before where my teeth felt dirtier after the cleaning than before. If this place is turning a profit, it's because they benefit from insurance recommends, double billings (like my one visit that turned into 2), and 'cost-saving' measures that compromise cleanliness and thoroughness. 2 stars for email convenience and nice hygienists, but stay away. read more

I've been going here my whole life. With COViD-19 I understand the difficulty of getting an appointment and doing anything in person. However, I have not been able to go in 2 years and back in March 17, 2021 I decided to have an appointment booked. I did and online registration which simply asked for name, phone number, DOB, if I was a student (never asked for proof) and days/hours I'd perfer to go in. My appointment was scheduled for May 3 2021 . Again completely understand the wait. What I don't get is the fact that 1) you call my mom about my appointment and want me to reschedule Bc something happen on your end even though I gave you my number twice (online and verbal on the phone with one of the ladies there) 2) for me to call back and have you guys say my name isint even registered there and that I never had an appointment 3) never informed me that I needed proof that I was a full time student until the day of my appointment and forcing me to cancel and reschedule. Not that they will care what I say this is just for anyone thinking about coming here, you should reconsider. read more

Had a wonderful experience with this Dental office! The staff is friendly and polite as well as accomendating with appointment times. Dr.Arora was kind and compassionate toward my dental needs and I felt she had my best interest at heart. She addressed all my concerns and provided me with the best dental care. As advised by Dr.Arora, I needed to have a special procedure performed on my tooth called crown lengthening which is done by the Periodontist on staff. Again, another kind and compassionate doctor. Dr. Starace explained in great detail how the procedure is performed and what to expect afterwards. He took the time and answered all of my questions without hesitation. I felt very confident and reassured from all the information I was given. Here we are two weeks later and I had my crown lengthening procedure yesterday. Dr.Starace was amazing! I felt no pain from the needle and he kept me informed of everything that was happening. I was relaxed and felt very cared for by his assistant as well as Dr.Starace. Best dental experience ever! General Dentistry is good. Periodontist is not. Six months after crown secured to implant I complained of sensitivity and a feeling the whole "tooth" was loose. Dr Starace insisted it was the crown that was loose, Dr Hollander agreed with my assertion it was the implant that was not secure. The crown was removed and at end of "one month waiting period" the implant fell out while I was brushing my teeth. Dr Hollander was helpful and professional. Dr Starace should be ashamed of himself for insisting it was others work that was deficient and not his own. I am now living with a hole in my jaw where the implant used to be and cannot imagine that Dr Starace will get it right on the second try!! read more

I had a wonderful experience here a few years back. One of the dental hygienists took x-rays. After about 5 minutes, my throat started to get itchy and dry. I couldn't help it and had to cough. I kept telling her I had to cough and needed a minute. She proceeded to put the contraption back in my mouth. I tried to just hold in this cough and my breath and this contraption still. It got ridiculous that I just yelled at her. Don't know what her deal was. I thought the dentist was fine, but I just had a problem with that one dental hygienist. NEver coming back. read more
