I went in totally not knowing what i would get after seeing rave reviews here and on google. SO I came in and got treatment for many issues I've been having since my surgery in July. The doctor I saw was really nice and explained the treatment and what to expect. He pinned me up and I laid there for about 40 minutes. He recommended some herbs which I take now.. I can't say I felt anything at first but when I got home, I felt a lot better, so much so that I ended up doing like 20 laps in my pool at home which I haven't done ever in the 3 years I lived there so that was impressive. I've dealt with stress and anxiety for as long as I can remember. Lately, life just seems like it's throwing the punches too fast for me to handle. After consulting "Dr. Internet," I decided that acupuncture might be an approach that was worth trying. Coral Gables Acupuncture seemed to be the best and closest to me. Free consultation--can't hurt, might help. As soon as I walked into the office, I felt like I had made a good choice. There's spa/relaxation music and nature sounds playing, and there's water or hot tea. The staff--I've met about five office staff--are all very warm. They act like they are there for you, as opposed to you are interrupting their work. It feels and looks like a doctor's office, but less clinical and cold. I met Dr. Chasens and we spoke for about an hour. I felt comfortable enough with him to ramble on about the mix of stress/anxiety/digestive problems that I was sick of having. He listened, he looked at my tongue, and he said that acupuncture, along with proper diet, sleep, exercise, should be very effective (I'm just saying, it's not a magic cure--you have to hold up your end.) After the first session, I felt like I had been buoyed up--skipping over the ocean like a stone, as the song goes. After six sessions, I feel effing great. I don't dwell on things, like something that I said to somebody that didn't come out right, or the flat tire I got the day before that added an unexpected delay and expense to my day. I'm writing such a long post because, if, like me, your cup runneth over with stress/anxiety, you should stop worrying about it and try something totally different. People will laugh at you-- my mother did. People will get upset with you for no real defined reason-- my husband was...but not anymore! Now that he sees how much better I feel, he's super supportive. This was my first experience with acupuncture and I am quite pleased. I have had chronic lower back pain for several years. The treatments have alleviated my pain, reduced my stress levels and therefore increased my quality of life. The staff is extremely professional. They make sure that you get both a reminder call as well as an e-mail to ensure that you don't forget your appointment. I also appreciate that the fact that when you arrive you are seen almost immediately. This is a rare when it comes to doctors' appointments. I recently started acupuncture sessions to help me with an injury that I'm still dealing with as well as other important health concerns and I can't even believe how quickly I'm progressing. It's been five years minimum that I can sleep through the night, since I started going on my very first session I haven't had insomnia. My mind is clear, I'm energized and I don't wake up feeling tired. My injury doesn't hurt as much and my allergies seem under control. Relief from pain. Relaxation. I was neither a sceptic or true believer my first session but the relief from a few needles placed expertly by Steve Chasens convinced me. I came for a couple months and got my mobility back. I even had no pain after two ten hour flights! Very shortly after I wrote my negative review Ivana (below) contacted me in order to get me off of this mailing list. She was so nice, respectful and apologetic! When she couldn't find my email (because I gave her the very old one that was signed up) she really investigated into the problem and sent me all of the email chains from the appropriate systems. I have been seeing Doctor Chasen for 2 months now to get treated for Bell's Palsy that I've had for two years now. For years now I've been trying every avenue to figure out a reason and treatment for my constant fatigue. I'd been to numerous doctors who ran tons of tests but never found anything. And if nothing showed up on their tests, then there must not be anything wrong with me...that's the response and feeling I kept getting time after time. Since conventional doctors weren't working for me, I started doing my own research on alternative medicine, natural remedies, etc, determined to figure it out on my own. I decided to give acupuncture a try. I first went to a center in Miami Beach for 2 sessions (with a groupon) and didn't find much of a difference. The idea was still interesting to me so I decided to try a little closer to home and found Dr. Chasens. I went in just planning to try the free consultation to hear what he thought about my case. After sitting down with him and going over my entire history, I felt he was really eager and optimistic about solving my dilemma. So I stayed for my first treatment and have been going every week since. I've been feeling markedly better. Still not as energetic as a 27 year old should be, but I also don't have the really drastic fatigue I used to feel on a regular basis. Besides feeling the difference, the main and most important reason I keep going back is that I feel Dr. Chasens sincerely wants to help. After years of going to doctor after doctor who never looked further than test results, I cant begin to explain how refreshing and hopeful this is. I cant speak for him but to me it feels as if he enjoys the challenge of the puzzle, and to have someone like that in your corner is really wonderful. I had my first appointment at Coral Gables Acupuncture this past Saturday with Dr. Chasens. He is so kind, caring, understanding, and hardworking. After he assessed my condition he explained why acupuncture would be helpful and how long the treatment would last. He told me that he was very optimistic that acupuncture would help my symptoms but not to expect a miracle overnight. Well, not to discredit the good doctor, but he was wrong. His expertly placed needling work made me feel better not overnight, not in 48 hours, not in a week, but instantly! As soon as he finished inserting the final needle I proceeded to enter a new plane of existence where I was so calm, relaxed, and centered for the first time in 6 months. I'm not one to believe in these sorts of things (I'm a firm believer in medicine and hospitals, etc.) but this really works. The office is calm and relaxing and the staff is so sweet and patient. I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience there. I'm going back tonight to receive manual therapy, which I'm sure will be just as excellent as the acupuncture.
