My husband and I we fortunate enough to find this location on B&B Ireland. We only stayed one night…read moredue to our itinerary but it was a day and night to be remembered. The view from the property is unbelievable. The hosts are the most kind and gracious people. We we're traveling using public transport only and Susan and Desmond were so helpful, looking up schedules, locating the best boarding spots, and even going to far as to give us a lift into Waterford to further verify our transportation options. Our room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Ireland. Susan even makes her own vegan sausage. if you ever find yourself in Irelands southeast coast, you should go out of your way to stay at Samuel's Heritage. You won't regret it.

My wife and I just got back from our first ever trip to Ireland. We flew into Dublin, spent a few…read morenights in Kilkenny, then bounced around most of the country for the rest of the week, staying in B&B's most of the way (save two nights in a hotel in Kilkenny). This was our first B and B experience ever, and the first of four on this trip. First, let me just say that the Samuels Heritage is beautiful. Their location, the views, the home itself, are all amazing. The place is VERY well kept, clean and perfectly appointed. Our room included a double and twin beds, a great bathroom, and was very nicely decorated and presented. Susan met us upon arrival, and other than my own lack of understanding of B and B's, was extremely helpful. Breakfast was great the next morning, and given our "quite compressed" timelines, we didn't have too much time to linger around and stay. We have full Irish breakfast, lots of cereal and fruit options, GREAT Coffee and tea, and just excellent service all in all. Susan goes a long way to make every effort and consideration, and we hope to be back again someday - - and I really can't say enough about the location and facility itself. The first, and quite easily the best stay of our trip!

Agherton Lodge B&B - You made to feel like Lord of the manner at Agherton Lodge

Agherton Lodge B&B

This bed & breakfast is in one the most attractive & tranquil rural settings that I've ever stayed…read morein, near to the river Blackwater. It's just outside the small village of Banteer, and around 17km west of the town of Mallow in north Co. Cork. Agherton Lodge is a 2-storey detached house in a very striking setting, so much so that you feel like you're the lord or lady of the manner staying in this environment, in a pleasant ranch-like way. A really nice lady who was originally from the north welcomed us the early evening we arrived, and she very kindly laid us out tea, coffee & biscuits in the open plan front room, which was much appreciated. There were spacious solid wood floors throughout, (good for my asthma), it all looked both spotlessly clean & new, as well as warm & inviting. There were 4 of us, 1 woman, 3 blokes, staying in 3 rooms. Our 'boss' and only girl each had spacious double rooms to themselves, I shared an equally spacious twin room with the other guy. It was €35 each, which I felt was very good for this standard of accommodation. The bedrooms were fantastic, bright, breezy & cheerful, all with ensuite. The doubles have a lovely indulgent looking bath. Jo was so impressed she photographed hers! The beds, even the singles were blissfully comfortable. My room had a superb south facing view of fields, trees & rolling hills in the background and horses,(very frisky horses), in the foreground, with big french windows that opened onto a balcony. It was just so lovely & peaceful standing on the balcony & watching the horses frolic around, on a lovely mild evening in October, and relaxed me completely before a show I was doing at the nearby Glen Theatre. After a bit of a drink with the generous guys at The Glen, the B&B was equally welcoming at night. It was quiet season I should stress, and it was just us 4 in residence, but bearing in that the mind the couple running it had a son, & a very friendly dog, we were given loads of space, and truly felt it was ours! Breakfast next morning was to an equally high standard, and generous. I always love places that don't seem like guesthouses but places that you feel, well at home in, and we all definitely felt at home here. Real 5 star quality, and a lovely place to base yourself if you want to explore Cork & Kerry by car.

And, wow!... the breakfasts are outstanding, and so beautifully presented. But what made this place truly special are the kind and caring people who worked there. We really enjoyed getting to know them, and their stories. Our favorite places for dinner and within walking distance were: Rive Gauche, Rinoccini, Zuni, and Petronelli. Enjoyed a private walking tour by Pat Moylan, Kilkenny Walking Tour that the Butler house lined up for us. Pat is truly passionate about the history of Kilkenny, and we learned so much! And, Waterford was a quick day trip by train. Highly recommend the walking tour by Jack Burtchaell (meet at the Granville Hotel).

I have to admit that a little bit of the five stars I'm going to give Bridge View B&B is because I was somewhat of a rude guest, in that I arrived over an hour late after getting side tracked driving across Ireland then having my rental car locked in the parking deck across from Smithwick's Brewery (that one closes at 6PM - the 11PM one is up the street). Despite all of this, our hostess Eimear accommodated our tardiness and was very pleasant throughout the whole experience. That's reason enough to book this homey B&B, with the comfortable rooms and ideal location (along with metered parking nearby). The B&B sits right on the River Nore minutes away from a very convenient pedestrian bridge to downtown Kilkenny. The rooms are modest, with comfortable double beds and private bathrooms. The breakfast is delicious and made to order from the menu at the tables. Very much a mom and pop vibe, as Eimear made our breakfast (her husband is a musician we heard play at the Kyteler's Inn the night before - a small world indeed). The place is cash only, so be sure to have enough for your stay - if not, there are ATMs across the aforementioned pedestrian bridge. Overall, when I come back to Kilkenny I'm coming back to Bridge View B&B, and I promise this time not to be so late.

We were warmly greeted by Teresa and Willie for our Tuesday and Wednesday night stay. She showed us…read morethe breakfast room and explained we could either let her know what time we want breakfast and she'll have it started, or we could just show up in the morning and she could start it then. The room was nice and clean including the tiled bathroom. We appreciated that the shower stall was big and had a soap and shampoo dispenser. We never heard the other guests. We spent our day relaxing at the b and b. I sat with the bedspread on the garden swing and either read or worked puzzles and looked at the view. I was impressed she gets here eggs from a farmer down the road. I assume they are from free-range pasture-raised chickens. The wifi only worked on my iPad about 25% of the time; (however, that was enough to look up what I needed.) I tried restarting, but still often got error message. I chose Cozie Bed and Breakfast because I wanted a b and b with a view that was walking distance from a pub with food. I was disappointed that although McCarthy's gastropub is open Tuesdays nights, they only serve drinks then, so we only went to McCarthy's on Wednesday. For dinner on Tuesday we ate at a restaurant that was nothing special. Also, we took a bus from Dublin to Clonmel station. Then there (with Teresa's helpful suggestion) asked someone in the station/restaurant to call us a taxi. The taxi fare to Cozie B and B was 20 euros.
