The candle that looked like a whole blueberry pie was a personal favorite that would make a great addition to anyone's home! The fall smell of cinnamon sticks, apples, and fresh baked goods that radiates from the candles just about smacks you in the face the second you walk in the door. That alone, to me anyway, is well worth the trip across the parking lot from MacQueen's. The only issue is, everything is a bit pricey. If that headband wasn't $12, it would have been mine! After trying the Narcissist body wash and body butter--both of which I received as a gift from a…read morebath bomb class at Buff City Soap--I decided to go back and treat myself for my birthday. This time, I purchased the body lotion, body mist, and body butter in the same scent. While the body mist and body butter lived up to the hype, the body lotion was a disappointment. It smelled like there was no fragrance added at all--more like an unscented lotion, even after applying it twice to clean skin. I called the store, and they told me any exchange would be up to the manager's discretion after they smelled the product to confirm whether it matched the Narcissist scent. Today, I stopped by on a whim while shopping for a gift and tested a new bottle of the Narcissist lotion in-store (something I wish I had done earlier). Unfortunately, it smelled the same--completely unscented. When I brought this up to a sales associate, my concern was dismissed. They simply stated they follow policy and added that "other people think the fragrance is too strong" in the lotion. Honestly, I was pretty taken aback by that response. Based on this experience, I won't be purchasing lotions from here again and will likely go back to Bath & Body Works. I tried to give them a chance, but left disappointed. Suggestion: It would really help if the store ensured better consistency in fragrance across batches--especially for signature scents--and trained staff to handle customer concerns with more openness rather than dismissiveness. Another option could be offering customers a small amount of the fragrance oil blend used in the scent, so they can mix it into products that may be under-scented. Even providing testers or encouraging customers to smell products before purchase could help prevent situations like this.

That said, I had coffee at one place, ate a meat loaf lunch at another, pawed the car windows and did some test sitting at a few dealerships, drove around the University of Toledo campus (which I didn't know is a very good school for STEM disciplines), and put the cherry on top of these few hours by visiting the Toledo Botanical Garden. I walked the garden and took photos. It was warm and humid, so I didn't really relax and sit a spell. Like many public gardens, the Toledo Botanical Garden, out toward the western end of the city, mixes up formal garden spaces with European cues and more organic spaces, meaning they are natural in affect and display very little rigid planning. I was fairly amazed how, as you moved along, these different vistas came into view. Everything was cohesively put together and you could enjoy the different environments they've curated for you. The Toledo Botanical Garden is part of the city metro park system, which I learned from other reviews. Thus, being under this umbrella might mean that the park is free of charge ... and it is! For this aspect and for delivering more than I had expected, having pulled it from a "top things to do" list, I believe the Toledo Botanical Garden handily earns 5 stars.
