I'm normally not a rock collector (My dog is though but that's another story, just ask my vet) but this shop was on my way back to the hotel so I thought hey why not check it out. It's fairly small with only 3 parking spots but you can pack a lot of geology in a small space. There are several varieties of rocks, polished stones and fossils in different sizes. I appreciated that there were both common and quite rare pieces here for sale. Prices varied from $.50 polished stones and fossilized shark teeth to an impressive looking fossilized cave bear hand for about $600. I was especially intrigued by the fossils the owner had available. There were several different types of animal fossils for sale such as sawfish, tapir and even dinosaurs. They even have coprolite/fossilized poop if you're into that. The only negative was that I got a weird vibe from the shop keeper. I felt like I wasn't really welcome in the shop and he didn't want to answer any of my basic questions about the fossils and rocks I was interested in. Maybe I'm not as cool as a rock or fossil to him but sometimes I feel like a fossil, can't that count? read more

This is the best rock shop currently existing in Arizona. The owner once held exclusive contacts with many of the larger mines in the area to extract specimens. He seems to have a limitless supply of old material, good material, and even the rarely found NEW material from the area. I'm a rather advanced mineral collector, and I've found specimens in this shop at very reasonable prices which I might never best at a mineral show for any price. It's a long drive from Tucson, but I've never left disappointed. Help keep the man in business, buy his stuff. read more

My wife and I drive to this place from Phoenix all the time! The prices are unbeatable. There's a wide selection of stones. From little pocket size pieces to three foot showcase pieces. I love this place! So many different things and such a nice, kind man. Local stuff, exotic stuff, you name it, it's there. The prices are MORE than reasonable- you will be able to find something to walk out with, whether it be local rocks and minerals and metals to old fossils. I will definately be back. read more

although this rock shop has a good selection of fossils and minerals from around the world, the owner is not very friendly. I was visiting from outside the area and asked if he knew of any areas to stop for an hour to collect petrified wood or agates, he wouldn't give me the time of day! I visited this rock shop a year ago, before I even knew about San Carlos peridot. The owner was very knowledgeable, friendly, and answered my questions. I bought a really nice 7mm peridot. I took it home to Washington State, and had it set in a ring. The price was fantastic and the stone is gorgeous. I'm planning another trip to Phoenix, AZ in November, and we will make a day drive to Globe, just to visit this rock shop. read more
