I had six sessions with Dr. Epstein-Browell. During our initial intake phone call, I noticed she…read moreoften interrupted my introduction with her opinions. Initially, she helped me address some of my current limited thoughts, which I found beneficial. Her approach to psychotherapy involved asking questions like, "What's next?" or "What are the solutions?" but she rarely provided concrete answers herself. There was no EMDR therapy during these sessions. When we discussed my past traumatic experiences, I felt that her responses sometimes appeared critical of my perspectives and feelings regarding those events. At times, I felt the need to defend my viewpoint against what I perceived as judgments. In one session, she seemed to understand my perspective, but her stance shifted significantly in the next, which was frustrating. On the third occasion, she questioned my memory and feelings, referring to my past trauma as a 'miscommunication.' When I pointed this out, she attributed my distress to 'Mother's Day' rather than acknowledging my concerns. Overall, I did not find her approach helpful and felt it lacked sensitivity to my needs.

She helped me understand my reactive behaviors, restore my confidence in myself and develop coping skills for my issues at hand. My friend also sees her, and any time we say something especially insightful or emotionally healthy, we laugh and say "thanks, Jenna." I highly recommend her especially for young women. Also, just a note to anyone actively searching for a counselor. Take the plunge. Make the appointment (preferably with Jenna, lol). You clearly have an interest, maybe even a need. If you don't like it or it's not a fit, no harm done. It's worth it to give it a try. I say this from experience, and I'm so glad for the time and therapy I received, because I took that first step. Good luck, my friend.

This led to our credit card being charged, instead of insurance we were planning on putting on file at her appointment. Even though services were not rendered, we understand they have a cancellation policy, but we at least wanted to resolve the situation and hoped for flexibility to bill our insurance. Instead of being reasonable, responsive, and assisting us, the receptionist was difficult to get ahold of and rude on more than one occasion. When she finally got back to us she told my wife she could have just had a telehealth appointment, except the appointment was already over, so it would of been impossible to attend. Insurance has yet to be billed as of this review. We feel it is very unprofessional way to go about this, while we are already going through a difficult situation. This has left a bad taste in our mouth regarding The Montfort Group, which is unfortunate because we really liked the therapist.
