They're very consistent with their quality and although there are other nice bakeries in York, for me, none of them compete with Thomas's. Thomas the Baker is really cheap too, it's possible to get a decent lunch there for a couple of quid. The only bad thing I can say is that it's unhealthy but then again all bakeries are!

The bakery is very bright and clean inside and looks fresh. There is a good selection of cakes, which seem to be bigger to me, although the children's ones are not colour and additive free, which I always avoid. I've never tried their sandwiches but they look fresh and offer larger baguettes. There is a hot counter serving pizza and savoury pies and pastries. You can see the ovens from the counter and see where the sandwiches are made so it always looks clean and tidy. My children especially like their caramel donuts.
