A Norwegian summer day doesn't end too early because there's still sunlight around midnight. This supermarket in a small town like this doesn't close till 11pm on a Wednesday in June which is quite impressive! It's located very close to the train station, no more than a 10 min walk.
The store carries what a regular supermarket carries and it is not just for tourists. They have grab and go sandwiches, yogurt, even pre made Starbucks coffee! And many more breakfast/lunch items if you're on a budget. Also you can find all kinds of toiletries and even zip lock bags and foil.
Many times you can find Norwegian or in general Scandinavian confectionery and snacks here which can make excellent souvenirs for your family and friends without being suckered at the tourist gift shops!
The cashier is very friendly too. She actually said hello and bye to is which is not normal outside of the US lol. If you pay by cash, hand her the bills and put the coins into the red machine in front of you at the check out. Guess it's better and more efficient than rolling up coins for deposit!
P.S. They charge 10 kr for a plastic bag but it's a good quality bag, not those Safeway ones where they break before you get home... read more
