I remember the last time I visited this place was in 2018...And it's still as good as I remember it! The eating area inside is a bit dark and quaint; They also got a foosball table from what I saw. Having said that, Coolside places more an emphasis on outdoor eating like most places in Downtown Palm Harbor, and it is actually really cozy and classy. I found it to be quite enjoyable! Honestly doesn't detract from the quality of the store at all. Food wise, the gelato was sweet enough to be good, but not too sweet to the point of being overpowering. It's creamy, and there's a reasonable variety of flavors here. Not much to say given it's pretty basic, but there's something to be said about the classics. Honestly, no complaints! Definitely give it a go sometime. read more

I am thoroughly confused by the high reviews. Either these are local friends just trying to help the owner which I applaud. Or people who have never in their life had real Gelato or even good ice cream. I hate to tear a local business down but my reviews are meant to be honest for other patrons. Each time I've entered this establishment the vibe has been unwelcoming and cold. A man of little words. Inside is very small as is outside. But the real let down is the "Gelato" and for me personally calling it Gelato is highly offensive because it's nothing like Gelato. The flavors aren't great and I tried several. My honest opinion is that this would be an absolute last option for me. I would go to McDonald's for soft serve before coming here. My guess is if they weren't next to the pizza place they probably wouldn't still be open. I just can't recommend read more

Stopped here for dessert after lunch. It's quaint but has some seating outside. There were lots of flavor options and I had half Oreo and half Samoa Goodness. Both flavors were fantastic. I would definitely come back. read more

Cool Side Gelato in Tarpon Springs is a must post dinner. The location is next door to Fire Side Pizza Cafe. The location is unique, festive and fun. If you are not having gelato, they have plenty of options. Wine and craft beer. Plenty to chose from. It was my first gelato bar that sold beer. One of the features that I LOVE is they have a foosball table. Costs 1.00 to play in quarters. Seating is very limited. You will either We tried the following: Chocolate: Had a strong chocolate flavor. Coconut: Good flavors. Plenty of shreds of coconut 1/2 mint chip and 1/2 Oreo. Nothing out of the ordinary. Gelato place at Palm Harbor bring joy to the kid of the neighborhood. I hope New Tampa has one of the mom and pop gelato store one day. Coolside has a special beerlato that I did not try. I will try that next time. Today we have three of the flavors. All three flavors was very nice. Before you are ordering, you can try their specialty flavors. The server was nice enough for any cup size, he can fill as many flavors he can. We got the small cup, and he was able to fill with three flavors. This is a plus to attract customers to come back. Other than gelato and beer, they serve coffee too. It is as advertised fine Italian ice cream. read more

Cute little gelateria in hopping downtown Palm Harbor. Home of the Beerlato (just what it sounds like a gelato float with beer-and that's a no for me). We had a medium and a large for under $12. We tried butterfingers, pistachio & Sea Salt Caramel gelato. All good but hands down the Sea Salt won. Pairs well with almost any flavor. I would love to see coconut gelato next time I come by hint hint;) And word to the wise, don't call it I scream or the nice young man will correct you. read more

WOW! One of my fellow Elite Yelpers (I am pretty sure he is the DUKE here, lol!) was bragging on how good this place was, and after we had a nice meal of wings and pizza elsewhere... they drove us up to Coolside. Palm Harbor is always busy, and does strong bar business with some food also (or so I see it). Coolside is right in the middle of this madhouse... and so finding parking is not easy... be prepared to park a little farther away and walk a little. Good for you, right? :) Coolside Gelato did not disappoint.. great Gelato! I had the chocolate hazelnut... and it was delicious! Girlfriend had salted carmel and loved it. Everybody was happy with their choices, and service was on point too. Friendly and efficient! And free samples to try the different flavors! Yum! Highly recommended! read more

We walked in and found out they serve coffee, beer, gelato, ice cream and float. After trying couple flavors, We got a large cup strawberry pineapple, bubble gum and pistachio. The straw berry pineapple gelato was excellent. I can feel the strawberry seeds and pineapple pieces in the gelato. The bubble gum had un unique good taste. They were all mildly sweet, so after tasted them, I didn't feel thirsty. The place got indoor and outdoor sitting . Good service and reasonable price on top of yummy gelato, I am a fan. read more

TLDR: delicious gelato, just like I had in italy! Small was plenty! Interior is so cute! Hidden gem for sure! This was the highlight of our family night out! We just so happened to eat at a place across the street and I am happy we walked past! Apparently, if you buy pizza at the place next door you get 10% off. We will definitely keep that in mind for our next visit! They let me try the heath & pistachio gelato before I finally chose the biscoff flavor. I was in heaven! So creamy and decadent! My kids had chocolate (basically brownie batter) & mint chocolate chip (she wouldn't share, that's how good it was). My husband had the butterfinger and it tasted exactly like the candy but, didn't get stuck in your teeth They also had alcohol and coffee offerings but, we didn't try any this visit. Great Gelato! And really cool flavors. The woman at the counter seemed passionate and excited by all the flavors. I had the wasabi almond chocolate which had an interesting kick to it and the salted caramel, which was creamy and sweet. I tried another flavor like blueberry goat cheese--definitely weird! But I like places where you can get something tried and true and something experimental, never know what you are going to like! This is a great finish after the next door pizza or just great as a late night stop. There is some seating inside and outside and some limited parking. But it's a great dessert local--definite must try! read more

It is about time that I finally tried this place. The owner is a sweetheart. I asked to try most all the flavors because I couldn't figure out my most favorite. I liked the Pralines and Cream, sea salt caramel, strawberry balsamic, tiramisu, Rocher, all of them. I finally picked the tiramisu and strawberry. It was so good and creamy. Felt so nice on my throat that's been bothering me. They also have beerlatos which is beer with different types of gelato. They even have a pairing chart. They have flights as well where you pick four gelato flavors and try it with your beer. They have moscato wine with lemon gelato. They also have coffees, cannolis, and desserts. We will be back for sure to try all their fun variety! read more

This is the real thing, straight from Italy by way of New York. The owners did everything they could to make gelato properly, including training from an Italian gelato master! Leila was quite friendly, describing how just one trip to Italy inspired the opening of this shop! I understand, since our first trip to Italy also changed our perceptions of great fresh food, forever. We enjoyed our homemade gelato while sitting outside on a beautiful cool day. I had homemade biscotti crunched up in mine. My wife had this incredible wasabi chocolate almond flavor that stretched all gelato boundaries! Go here. Order gelato. Win. read more

Limited amount of flavors, but all the Gelato flavors we've tried have been great. Haven't been brave enough to try their signature Beerlato. I'll update this post if I do! The inside is small, but very cool, Foosball table if you want play. Overall nice little place. The best gelato I have had!!! I've come here a few times but need to start coming more. They have a variety of flavors, and they're all so good! They allow you to test the flavors. The small size is super small, I usually get the medium. The prices are not bad at all. I for sure recommend this place for a nice treat! Inside and outside seating and such a friendly staff. Get a little adventurous with Pad Thai, wasabi or Cheez-It! They like to keep thing interesting Creating new things with Gelato. That's why this place is home To the delicious treat known as Beerlato. Like an old fashioned coke float But this one is made with beer! So come on down to Coolside, You can only find that here! FABULOUS in every single aspect! We have stopped in for gelato several times. Off the chart incredibly great service! In addition, the gelato is AMAZING!!!! The owners are personable and fun to talk with. When I requested an additional scoop in vanilla to be on top of my Almond Joy gelato commenting it was intendedb for my dog who was home. They immediately offered to keep it in the freezer until we were ready to leave. If you want GREAT gelato and appreciate great customer service, this is your place! Great tasting gelato for a decent price. Small $4 Beerlato $8.95 They also have medium and large sizes just forgot what the price was. My favorite gelato was the biscoff and sea salt caramel! You can combine flavors in your cup as well. Super friendly owner and let us sample the different kinds. I had the Biscoff, Sea Salt Caramel, Coffee, and Rocè (chocolate hazelnut) (in order of my ranking from my number one favorite) They have inside and outside seating available and also have coffee, crepes, and cannolis. We went to Bar Fly for dinner then walked across the street to this gelato spot and I'm so happy we did! The staff was friendly and helpful! My kids got the bubblegum and mint chocolate flavor and I got the tiramisu. We sat out front at their tables which had cute cafe lights. It was a perfect spot to end our family night! read more

Great gelato here! I love the ambiance around here. It's such a cute area. I love all of the details of the building inside, outside, and all over the patio. Great place to hang out and bring your dog for a stroll and hang out on the patio. Such a selection of flavors! I loved meeting the owners and suggesting new flavors and admiring the flavors they have previously made. A little on the pricey side for the size but it's worth the scenery. Looking forward to coming back to this one of a kind spot soon! read more

So a friend of mine invited me to meet her for gelato on Friday night. I thought what the heck, why not, I could go for some ice cream. Well I was in for a surprise when I got there - and you will be too! Ladies and gentlemen, yes this is a gelato shop, but not your ordinary everyday gelato shop. For starters, the owner Layla is fabulous. Very helpful, welcoming and ready to help explain the process from start to finish. They have not only ordinary gelato flavors, but also some savory ones like cornbread & jalapeño and PAD THAI! Yes, I said pad Thai gelato. I sampled a spoonful. It's made with peanut butter, coconut, cilantro and sriracha and it really tasted like the real deal. There's so many flavors it's hard to choose Here's where it gets really good. As I said this isn't an everyday ice cream shop. It's home of the BEERLATO!! What fabulous creation. It's like a root beer float for grown ups. So you pick any flavor gelato you want, mix it with any one of a variety of craft beers and just like that you have an amazing adult treat. I opted for the cinnamon gelato with sweet potato casserole beer. It was AWESOME! I honestly couldn't get enough. Oh and did I mention that beer was 8% ABV- that's like 2 beers in one, not some wimpy imitation! For $7.95, it's well worth it if you ask me. From here on out this will be my new ice cream spot. Myself and 2 friends stopped in here for a post dinner treat. Lots of selections for gelato and Italian ices. They offer tastes before you order. I believe I even saw a beer gelato (or maybe it was an ice?) They also have fresh stuffed cannolis (my friend said it was great) and some cookies. Also coffee. Great industrial decor and vibe! Never had gelato and beer? You are missing out! This place makes the best beer floats. My favorite is salted Carmel with the peanut butter and chocolate stout beer. It's decadent and you can't only have just one, but totally worth every calorie. Just remember to return the steel straw and spoon combo. The owner says they are hard to find and expensive I would imagine. read more

History

Established in 2013.

2013 was an amazing year for us, we turned the BIG 50 and decided to go to Italy to visit family and friends. Little did we know that Italy would change our lives the way it did. Mario wouldn’t eat ice cream in the States because it would upset his stomach. A few days into our trip Mario asked to try my gelato (I was a little concerned) but I let him try it. After a few days of sharing my delicious gelato with him we started noticing that Mario could eat gelato without getting an upset stomach. Our trip now took on a new direction everything centered around gelato. Mario looked at me before we left Italy and told me that we were going to open up a gelato shop when we got home. I said like any wife would “sure sweetie”. Not really taking him serious. Mario has since mastered the art of crafting his own gelato just like we had in Italy! Here we are now in the most amazing little Gelato shop. Yes our lives have changed for the best and now we are sharing our new found passion.
