There is a little area that is enclosed with a heater similar to the one at the Fenway station. Unfortunately the heater was broken. A train comes by every 10-20 minutes at night, while in the mornings and noon it's every 5-8 minutes. The train around this area does go a little slow so leave for your destination early. Keep in mind if you get cold easily, don't sit by the doors. A breeze comes in every time they open the doors. If you sit in the middle or away from the doors the green line does heat up!

Except that out here, Reservoir station, Cleveland Circle Station and Chestnut Hill Avenue Station are within about five blocks of each other. An easy walk and maybe if you're riding the Green Line into the city, you'll have a quicker ride from Reservoir since there aren't as many stops between here and Kenmore. Reservoir is on the D branch of the Green Line. A solid above ground station, it has good cover to protect you from the elements, plenty of waiting area, audible and visual announcements of the next trains in both directions, and automated ticketing machines for purchasing a Charlie Ticket or adding value to your Charlie Card. The station is between Chestnut Hill (about a mile away, outbound) and Beaconsfield inbound. There are a number of bus connections upstairs.

Pros: -As a Boson College/Boston University/Allston-Brighton…read moreresident, the B-line train is the lifeline of getting ANYWHERE in and out of the city -If this train did not exist, Allston-Brighton would implode and Uber would own BC & BU -A great place for college kids to socialize and scope out the opposite sex/gender -Instead of grumpy/inconsiderate middle aged commuters and entitled millennials, you get chatty college kids who are more endearing (although equally as entitled) -Cuts down on BU traffic (which is already bad enough) Cons -It's miserably slow, making it the most despised of the Green Line itinerary. -There's a stop every 100 yards, which is the reason for its slowness and constantly opening doors -Since it not only serves commuters - but students - it can get packed at random times - making traveling on it a game of Russian roulette -Like all B-line trains, it's actually a rattling/rickety above ground trolley that was built at the beginning of time

Getting there was a saga, every person you spoke to at MBTA told you a different place to catch the bus. We ended up walking 16 blocks. On our way back we had to ask multiple bus drivers which bus ours should be to get back into the center of Boston. Bit of a nightmare, really. Clearer signage is a definite must, esp on days when it's raining, which it was.

We tried booking the direct train for a concert in Foxborough at the Gillette stadium but it sold out in advance online quickly. We then took the regular train, bought tickets at the desk and the workers were super friendly and helpful and told us where to go and it would tell us where our train track would be departing from. It was very bustling on a Thursday afternoon, once we got our track everyone ran to try to get a seat. Lots of stores and restaurants. For 3 adult one way tickets it was about $26 in total so a little over $8 a ticket one way for an adult. Located in the middle of town and not too far from hotels and public transportation. Took less than an hour to get to Foxborough and was pretty convenient.

Yelp Review 2026 #208:…read more We took a train from South Stadium to "Boston" Stadium (Gillette Stadium) for the World Cup and back. The station was buzzing with people rushing to get to work and futbol fans trying to get to the stadium. Police were everywhere. World Cup volunteers and train station staff were very helpful and patient. We paid $85 for roundtrip train tickets from Boston to Foxborough. Normally, it's under $20. We booked the 9am train which is boarding group A. We started lining up to the side of South Station. They had free sunscreen, water, and bug repellent wipes for us. We didn't board until after 9:45am and it was chaotic. Some people were running towards the train instead of staying in an organized line - most of them were foreigners that don't believe in rules, manners and decorum which is beyond the station's control. The train was open seating. There are food stalls, shops, and pharmacy at South Station. The restrooms are not the cleanest as one would expect from a train station at a big city. We've also used this station to get to different parts of Boston before and after the World Cup. The trains were alright.

It was a mob scene trying to get into the station, and down the stairs, a serious bottle neck, which only got worse as each person had to scan their pass/tickets/credit cards to get through the turn styles. The city could seriously alleviate this botttle next after a game by simply opening the turn styles, I'm sure they're making plenty of money already. The station occupies a unique position tucked directly alongside the Mass Pike (I-90), where the constant hum of highway traffic mingles with the rhythmic clatter of approaching trains. Just one block from Gate A of Fenway Park, the station serves as a crucial gateway for baseball fans and commuters alike. The proximity to the ballpark is celebrated through a striking public art installation that honors the numerical legacy of baseball--displaying the retired numbers of Red Sox legends and MLB greats who have been permanently enshrined in the sport's history. The station's architecture reflects both practicality and exposure to the elements. Its semi-sheltered design provides protection from the worst weather while maintaining an open-air feel that keeps passengers connected to the bustling urban environment around them. The two-level structure efficiently manages passenger flow, with stairs and elevators providing access to both inbound and outbound platforms, ensuring accessibility for all travelers. This vertical design allows the station to maximize its footprint in a space constrained by highway infrastructure on one side and the dense urban fabric of the Fenway neighborhood on the other. As construction continues to rise around it, Lansdowne Station stands as both a witness to and facilitator of the area's ongoing transformation. Note: This was formerly known as Yawkey Station. The MBTA renamed this Lansdowne Station due to its proximity to Lansdowne Street in 2019 after community concerns around memorializing members of the Red Sox owning Yawkey family who long-refused to hire African-American baseball players. They were the last holdouts in the MLB. The city of Boston reverted the name of nearby Yawkey Wayto Jersey Street for similar reasons the prior year.
