I had gone to one other traditional boutique and felt a little rushed because I hadn't had time to browse the racks before my appointment and didn't know what kind of style I wanted. So the more laidback vibe of BFAC was appealing to me as I wanted to peruse at my leisure and I was able to try on any style dress I wanted. I booked a solo appointment so I could just try on what I wanted, but not having someone there to help with zipping up made me a little slower with the dresses. The girls were able to help with zipping and clipping when I needed it. I was able to try on 8 different dresses (of varying degrees of condition). Most dresses were priced under 1000 but I did see many that had broken zippers/ripped seams/sold as is that would need repair. I ended up going a bit over my appointment time but the girls were so gracious in giving me more time, probably because I was there alone. Also I'm normally a 4 in street size but they recommended sizing up so I was looking at dresses between 6-8 which they had significant stock of. I stumbled on an absolute GEM of a dress that was a sample by Maggie Sottero. It was the second dress I had tried and it fit like a glove, was in pristine condition, and was so beautiful. The girls were so nice in hyping me up. I felt so pretty and comfortable in the dress but I didn't have the wow moment or tears so I was actually unsure if that was "my dress" but they were able to hold it for me for 24 hours. The hold was nice but stressful for me because I wanted more time to think about it (which is the nice thing about traditional stores that have normal stocked designers where you can try on a dress and return weeks to months later and still be able to buy it, but if I didn't buy this one, there wasn't a guarantee it would be there again next time). I ended up going back the following day (no appointment needed) to try it on again and styled it in different ways to see what alterations I would want and I realized I would be devastated if I passed on it and would regret not getting it right then. When I was paying for the dress, the girls actually said they had just gotten the dress in too so if you don't find a dress initially, check back again because it seems their stock rotates frequently and you might be able to find a really good quality dress for a fraction of the cost (I ended up saving 70% of the retail cost at BFAC).

I had the chance to use the amenities at Ronald McDonald House in San Diego, and I cannot say…read moreenough about what a true blessing this organization is. Back in December, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter in Murrieta. Just hours after delivery, she started experiencing complications. Unfortunately, the NICU at the hospital where I delivered was full, and she had to be transferred to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. My husband left immediately to be with her, and within a day and a half, I found myself alone, freshly postpartum, running on no sleep, with no money and very limited support. By the time I was finally reunited with my baby, I was completely drained--physically, emotionally, and financially. Walking into Ronald McDonald House was like walking into a safe haven. They had a hot dinner waiting, along with cold drinks, fresh coffee, and even dessert--all completely free for families like ours with children admitted to the NICU. Throughout our stay, we were provided with so much more than just meals. They had hot breakfasts, lunches, dinners, showers, laundry facilities, and even nap rooms for exhausted parents. These things might sound simple, but when you're living at the hospital with your child, they are life-changing. Without these resources, our time in the hospital would have broken us--especially since I had already been admitted for a week prior due to preeclampsia. The kindness, generosity, and compassion we experienced from both the staff and volunteers were unforgettable. They didn't just provide meals or a place to rest--they provided comfort, dignity, and a reminder that we weren't alone during the scariest time of our lives. After seeing firsthand the impact Ronald McDonald House has on families, it has become the number one organization we donate to and support. Their mission is powerful, their impact is real, and I am forever grateful that they were there for us when we needed it most. If anyone is considering supporting an organization that truly changes lives, I cannot recommend Ronald McDonald House Charities enough. They go above and beyond for families in their darkest moments, and my family will always hold them close to our hearts.

We got to meet a lot of adorable dogs, and one little guy instantly stole our hearts. What really stood out was how thoughtful and thorough TAP's process is. There was no pressure to adopt on the spot, which we really appreciated. After the event, we completed an application and received clear next steps. The following week, our foster brought him to our home so we could spend more time together. That confirmed everything we felt at the event. TAP conducted a home visit and checked our references, and it was clear throughout the process that they truly care about the well being of their animals and making the right match. Our foster was amazing, so kind and supportive. When we brought our little guy home, she sent him with his toys, some food, and a sweet note, which meant so much to us. Such a wonderful experience overall, and now our home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of snuggles.

I would not recommend adopting from The Animal Pad based on my experience…read more I recently adopted an older dog from them, and it became clear very quickly that some of his medical needs had not been adequately addressed. His medications had not been given consistently, and serious dental issues were left untreated. Since adopting him, I've had to constantly push just to get action taken on problems that should have been addressed much earlier. This past week, his gums became infected, likely related to his ongoing dental problems. It has been one medical issue after another, and what makes this so frustrating is that I believe many of these problems could have been prevented or better managed with consistent care. I understand that rescues rely heavily on fosters and have limited resources. But when you take responsibility for an older dog with significant medical needs, that responsibility includes making sure medications are given consistently, necessary veterinary and dental care is provided, and medical problems are followed up on. I'm exhausted from having to fight for this dog to receive the care he needs. Had his medical needs been managed properly and consistently, I believe his quality of life could have been significantly better.
