I came to Bread and Salt for an event that I was invited to by a local artist. I had no expectations when I showed up though I was confused as to the real intent of this establishment then other for events. In one room there was music being played though it was a bit loud with people talking you could not hear what the music was. Off past the clear roll up doors was a dirt floor what seemed to be an indoor patio with a pretty chill feel. I think this place has a lot of potential in the art realm- I would love to revisit this place and learn more about it.

Good wine. .. so I heard. This event location allows for wine. :)

Pretty cool venue in Barrio Logan. I attended an art show of my friends here and I was liking the vibe. It's a little short on parking and the entrance is a little dangerous if you step wrong, but I liked the variety of the spaces and how unique it was. I heard it was the old Wonder Bread factory, not sure if that is true or not. The gallery my friend was showing in was called the 'Not and Exit' gallery... and the entry way to it looks like... well, an exit! :) They allowed wine in the gallery so I can just imagine the possibilities for future events to be possibly held here... I took a few pictures that you can see linked to this review.

This is an odd venue - for an art gallery and social events. My only time here was for the opening night of the San Diego Latino Film Festival and access to the building was limited areas being used (plus the upstairs restrooms). With the exception of the art gallery, much of the interior walls and flooring seem "unfinished" - with some large areas still just dirt - but it is a fairly large venue able to accommodate a wide variety of events such as the one I attended - that included catered food and a band for dancing. The neighborhood is mainly residential and parking is mainly on the street but there is also a lot in back.

Talk about a cool, secretive art collaboration! I have to say I love the name as well. What used to be an old bottling warehouse, I believe, is now blooming with artistict talent in Logan Heights right near the Coronado Bridge. I have been lucky enough to walk through an art exhibit and also watch a wild performance by Tribal Baroque, street performers who have made a name for themselves in Baloba Park. There is no doubt that Bread & Salt is slowly becoming an oasis for art, quenching the thirst of locals who might have thought the scene 'dried up". This place has unlimited potential and they have only begun to start renovating it! If you have a passion for the arts and want to see a place well connected with the scene, definitely stop on by and see what they have to offer. I guarantee that you will see something memorable that will challenge you in a creative way.

This location was beautiful! The event I went to here was very open. I Could see the industrial yet classy feel for an event at this location!

Barrio Logan/Sherman Heights is always a nest of surprises. One of those is Bread and Salt, the bread factory that has known two families of entrepreneurs in the dough business and currently is a design hub for architects, artists of all kinds and designers. I went to their open house this Friday and the red neon lights with Salt and Bread seen from different sides was very retro looking. The night was offering a view of cotton candy clouds that totally matched with these neon and the yellow facade and turquoise door made me think I was in some Caribbean location and not in San Diego. Coffee was freely served by Cafe Motto, what a pleasant surprised! I loved the exhibitions and exploring the old factory and checking the silos (and some music experiment going on there with water and metal containers). I had the opportunity to chat with some artists and everybody was very friendly and open. I am very happy to find out about Bread and Salt and looking forward many exhibitions and events there, as its is a very spacious venue that can serve to multiple purposes.

I gladly paid asking price and would have never thought to ask for a "better price". I have since added her Aluminums, Steel Rounds, and Framed Reprints. Her art is breath-taking. She pours her heart, soul, mind, imagination and then finally her talent as a LIFE LONG Passion (& Wayne State MFA Educated Artist) -to bring an image to canvas. Art isn't for everyone & Mee's Gallery is free admission to view her heart, soul, and lifelong passion. She's been in same location for 13+ years. Not many businesses- who make millions, and millions more- can even say that - especially on India Street. Please don't ask for discounts when she spends at times months on a piece or you don't understand the background details to create such an image. Don't ask for pricing favors- like no tax- Mee Shim has to pay it on sales & so should you as buyer. And lastly- don't be rude, loud, obnoxious, disregarding her posting for "No Photos". One of the owners, Diane, was very pleasant and friendly in nature. One could tell she has a beautiful soul. My friend is a joker but loved and appreciated the quality of the work and had last been there about 5 years ago but remembered the excitement and pleasant experience at the store. It was a pleasant experience to enjoy my first time here with my friend and Diane. As I walked around the store I instantly fell in love with a small pair of green and blue glass earrings. I knew I wanted something to buy as a memorabilia. I must say of all of the pieces of jewelry that I own and as expensive as mine are, that these earrings are my favorite!!! They were inexpensive but so beautiful, caught the light in a way that was absolutely stunning on my complexion. Love them and have worn them every day since. As I was going to pay for my earrings my friend took notice of a beautiful peacock that was blue, green and had streaks of gold. When asked if I liked it of course I did who doesn't like peacocks, it was gorgeous. To my surprise, My friend bought me the small Peacock and my earrings!!! Of all the gifts that I have these are my prize possessions. They're absolutely beautiful, well made and made with love. I knew this shop was special and I can see that it's because of the integrity and craftsmanship that goes into each piece. Diane is a blessing and I wish nothing but good health, success and happiness for her and her family. I can't wait to bring my out of town family here!!! There's only a few places that I frequent and this will be one of them when I'm in the area to appreciate the art and buy something and the other is the seashell shop in Morro Bay, CA.

I wanted to bring a piece of beautiful San Diego home with me. We met with Diane and talked about what I was looking for and she offered so many wonderful ideas. We went home and I took all types of pictures of our home and sent them to Diane so that she could get a feel for who we were and how we liked to live our lives. After emails and all my silly questions, (Diane is very patient) we had her create two (2) fluted pendants to hang in our kitchen over our island and she created a inverted fluted bowl to hang over our dinette table. They are amazing. Words can not describe how beautiful they are. The colors are so rich and lush. We love them and every time I look at them I think of San Diego. Diane you are very sweet. Thank you for the beautiful pieces you created for us. We will be back very soon to San Diego Diane and we will be in to visit....I'm thinking centerpiece for dining room table now. I highly recommend everyone when you visit San Diego stop by Lowry's Hot Glass and be amazed.

I will start with the art. They had a few artists displayed but mostly had the work of Grant Pecoff (given that it is his gallery). They also had some very moving pieces from Stephanie Clair, the expression that she created with her cubism style and simplistic faces was very apparent and warm. Then I noticed Grant work and immediately recognized it. One of my friends has a piece of his I have always loved, it is of about 10 narrow homes above a reflective river in Amsterdam, the colors used and the reflection created are so unique and awesome. I love his art and hope to one day own a few of his pieces as they would compliment any room. He also has many San Diego paintings, including one of the Coronado bridge...which elicits a very interesting story of how he met his wife Layne. She had seen this painting for the first time a week before her parents came into town. When she was showing them around Del Mar she remembered it and brought them over to the window to check it out as she went on and on about how much she loved it. A guy was also looking at it from outside of the window and let her know there was a marching band on the side of the beach that day, that man was Grant Pecoff and only 5 weeks after that moment, they went on a trip to Europe together and had gotten married. Layne is full of happiness and it radiates to you when talking with her. She provides such a warm and comfortable aura and will leave you in positive thought after conversing with her. She writes the children's books with Grant's art next to the words, I have read through some of them and would recommend to any parent who hopes for an active imagination for their young one. The art and words dance and mingle in a lively fashion that stirs even an adult mind. If you are in the Little Italy area and you are look for an uplifting gift for your eyes and mind, please oh please, come on in and surround yourself with beauty.
