When I followed up a few days later before driving 39 minutes out of my way, the staff refused to confirm whether my items were there--citing "policy"--despite asking me to describe them in detail (size 13 Adidas EVO SL shoes, black shirt, shorts). The manager got on the phone, asked me to repeat everything, then gave a vague answer about the cleaning crew throwing away "smelly" items. Still no clear yes or no. Completely unhelpful and unnecessarily difficult. When I asked for his name, he didn't say it--he just spelled out "N-I-C-K" and refused to provide a last name. Overall, a bizarre and unprofessional interaction. I travel a lot for work and value gyms with multiple locations, but this experience was enough for me to cancel. I've never been much of a gym person but after loosing my love for running (I was that actual…read moreperson who ran one marathon and went "yeah this is really terrible") I knew I needed to find a new form of exercise for both my physical health as well as my mental health. Living in the energy corridor I had a lot of different options but I did not want a cookie cutter gym, I wanted somewhere that I could belong, somewhere that I felt the staff would get to know me and not judge me if- and when- I did something wrong. Plus I wanted classes- I LOVE group exercise classes cause I have no idea what to do on my own. So I took my then boyfriend and we went to MAC. We really found it to be a welcoming place. It is not the cheapest around but one thing I have learned is that I would always rather have quality in the things that affect my overall well being. I have made friends at this gym, I have been through Harvey and road construction with this gym and I always felt valued as a member. I've been kept in the loop- they do a fantastic job of hosting different types of events and keeping their social media up to date. And now through what is proving to be one of the most interesting events to happen they continue to show their dedication to members by offering youtube classes and free virtual classes. Every day they are posting and making sure there is something to do and a way to get a workout in even at home. This is far more than a gym but truly also a community and a family.

I have been coming here for just over a year and have seen a 53% strength gain and have dropped a dress size. Koko takes a holistic approach that is effective and has long term impact. They integrate your nutrition and workouts. This doesn't feel like a fad diet plan - it's sustainable and has helped me to really change how I think about food. I love that the cardio audio workouts have various fitness and nutrition studies and facts interspersed with the directions. Most importantly, I feel taken care of here. Art, Alicia, Edward and the rest of the team always make me feel welcome and are willing to help answer any questions I have! The environment is high energy, super friendly and supportive. From the moment I joined, JJ took care of me and helped guide me to the package/membership that best matched my fitness needs. The boxing classes are challenging and engaging. Even though it's a group class, Pablo pays special attention to each and every person, working with them one on one, guiding them on how to improve their technique. And don't worry, you'll get your butt kicked and handed to you with each and every class but you'll enjoy every minute of it. I have been working out here for three months now and now I am doing personal training with Jose who is just phenomenal. Jose follows a structured no BS approach which I love. I told him my goals and he takes them as seriously, if not more seriously than me. I started the HMB Boot camp in April and have been addicted ever since. I started it thinking I…read morewould just do a month and be set.....little did I know how much inspiration I would get! The boot camp setting gives me both the motivation and accountability I need to meet my personal fitness goals. With morning and several evening classes to choose from you always have a chance to make a class, even with a busy schedule like mine, allowing you to continue reaching and even exceeding your goals. Hugh, the instructor really takes the time to understand your fitness level and goals which allows him to push you where you need to be. In just 6 short weeks (I can believe I'm even saying that) I have lost inches, become much stronger, built muscle, toned up the muscle I thought I had, and have really had a mindset change as well.......I now find myself looking forward to my grueling workouts in the heat because I know it's the one hour of the day I am regaining my confidence and building a strong bond with other people with my same goals in mind.
