Yes, yes, yes! That's the thought in my head every time I eat the halal from this cart. It's one of those close your eyes and shake your head experiences. That's how good they are.
I am proud to say I have tried quite a lot of halal during my days working in NYC. I've tried halal from The Halal Guys, before they became so commercialized. I've tried halal from Adel's Halal in downtown. I've tried halal from the Biryani carts near Zuccotti Park. I've tried halal up and down NYC, Brooklyn and even in Montreal. You get the point, but I have to say Continental is up there with some of my favorites everrrrrrr.
The prices have only slowly risen in the decade I've been coming here. In the early 2010s, it was $5 for chicken, lamb or combo over rice and now in 2023 it's still only $7! Amazing considering how much inflation has impacted the prices of just about everything.
As for the food, I don't think I've kept it much of a secret. It's freakin' gooooood. If you love halal, you'll love the food here. I typically order the combo over rice, which typically comes with a small salad, but I tend to leave it out, however, it's totally up to you. As for sauces, go with the barbeque, white and green. Trust me on that. And to boot they add a few slices of bread in there and that's it! The meats are extremely fresh and delicious from this cart. I've had bad halal too and I know what bad meat taste like, but the chicken and lamb here is as fresh as it gets.
If you don't trust me, just observe the line during lunch time every weekday. Unfortunately, many of the food carts are no longer around in downtown and the industry has been devastated, but somehow Continental is still around....and thank goodness they are. read more
