When the list had several tasks, some of importance, some not so much, I decided to hire a handyman. I submitted the job to Yelp, and very quickly I received several responses. One response was from C & M Home Improvement. We very quickly arranged a visit, and I went over all the tasks with Mark while he took notes. Mark gave me an individual quote for my most important task that was more than fair and I immediately accepted. He literally took care of that task, and a couple of others that very day! I was surprised and very pleased with both the timing and the job that he did. These tasks included, 1) repairing a crack in the plastic roof on my back porch, 2) my drive-through gate would not stay closed, and 3) my gutter downspouts were loose or detached. These are the three tasks that Mark completed that very day. Subsequently, Mark sent me an individual quote for each of the remaining tasks from my list. All were very reasonable, and I agreed. Times were set up for these tasks and they were all completely quick and well. These remaining tasks included 1) cleaning out the attached shed, 2) cleaning and organizing the unattached shed, 3) power washing the patio, 4) installing a chimney cap to prevent squirrels from falling down chimney, 5) staining/sealing the full front porch, and 6) painting the wooden porch railings. For tasks 5 and 6, Mark power washed before applying the sealant and the paint). Mark also suggested that the house be power washed, and the gutters cleaned out. He quoted a price, again very reasonable, and I agreed. I am very satisfied with the work Mark performed and the timeliness. I am thrilled that all the tasks on my list were completed. I particularly liked the reasonable pricing...being on a fixed income in a difficult economy. Each task was completed as I described on that first day, without any further direction needed and without my presence required. Mark is personable, efficient, hard-working, and reliable. I will happily hire Mark again and highly recommend C & M Home Improvement.

After a week I had to let them go because the drywall job was so bad that they literally had pieces reversed because they cut them incorrectly, and then mudded over them instead of cutting a new piece. Mason was honest and took responsibility as his drywall person was new and apparently did not have the skills he proclaimed. Because he was honest and straightforward I decided to potentially use them for a smaller job in April 2025. However, when I received the estimate, it was high ($800 for a couple of drywall repair sections and a small area of baseboard) so I asked about a few things on it. I had also offered to use the matching paint I already had and was wondering if it was deducted from the list. Apparently, this was not well taken as I received a response of "I build in an extra charge in case there is anything unforeseen I run into"..."I think at this point in my career we are not a good fit, so I am pulling my estimate". This was a clear waste of my time, but it turned out well as the 2 estimates I received from other people were both for $500, and the team I hired had all materials included...and no one fell through my ceiling :) I think Mason is an honest person, which is very important, but his temperament is lacking, and his estimates seem to be more in line with professional contactor rates rather than those of a handyman.

These guys were awesome…read more I custom-ordered a Mission Oak colored door, but the factory sent it in white. They called and told me of the mistake, and got a new one on order. Then, because of the delay, I was out of country for a couple months. when I called back they set up install that same week. BUT....in my absence, my shed needed some work, and so I delayed install---twice. They were SUPER flexible, easy to work with, and the door is (1) exactly as requested and (2) VERY well installed. They paid attention to every detail, including how the wires were routed, as is for a very nice shop (not a garage).

I had some unsightly blemishes on my interior trim so I asked if the guys at Excel could refinish…read morethe trim rather then me buying a new piece. They were able to repaint the trim and I took the opportunity to add a custom touch to my interior by changing the OEM silver color to a nice tan color. A few days later I was able to pick up the trim piece. The shape and texture of the dash piece did not allow for the painted trim to be 100% precisely masked so Excel offered to touch up some areas of overspray later in the week when the paint was completely dry. I wound up just taking care of the overspray myself and I even added some pinstripes with some vinyl wrap. I'm happy over all with the job excel did was glad they were able to help me out as quite a few shops refused to accept the job.
