Horrible. Staff is rude and don't know what they are doing. Took out a car loan, they insisited we didn't have insurance. Gave them a copy of the card and the insurance agent called to varify. Still clamied we had no insurance. Staff talks to you in a horrible manner all the time and when you give it back, they warn you but it continues, So they kick you out. In a way it was a good thing as instead of making $75 a month on interest we are making $300 a month. read more

Worst bank/ credit union I have ever dealt with. They make TCF/ Huntington bank look top tier. Very sad since I had been a member since 2012 (was orginally a member of Motorola Employee Credit Untion) and went through two different buy-outs. The staff is absolutely amazing! Joe & Georgina always welcome us with a smile so friendly. Management always available to assist. I recommend people avoid this institution. I lost my debit card and by the time I realized it, someone made over $360 in purchases. I filed a fraud complaint within 24 hours and also a police report. The police reviewed the security footage and have a suspect in mind. This place closed the fraud complaint as final after crediting my account $33. Time to take my banking elsewhere. read more

I have been with Consumers for more than 15 years and have always let issues go. However, I am now changing to another credit union. I was laid off during the pandemic and had numerous emails reflecting these conversations between myself and multiple employees at Consumers. There are two dings on my credit for a late payment during covid. I requested they remove it due to hardships as I am now purchasing a home and interest rates are incredibly high (that little bit impacts everything). Not only did Consumers refuse to remove it or help in any way, but they also called me a liar and said I never reported I was laid off or experiencing hardships. I forwarded the emails and stopped getting any response whatsoever. I have started the process of switching to another credit union and started my mortgage loan through them. Avoid this credit union at all costs if customer service is important to you. read more

Deposited a large insurance check via over night delivery to the Round Lake Beach office, it took a week and a half for them to deposit the check and then they held it for another 7 business days. This against FED depository regulations. The manager in Round Lake Gary Bernacchi says he doesn't know why the check took so long to get deposited and then a hold placed on it. Seems no-one is taking responibility over there or at the top. When you call in no-one answers the phone -it's automated and takes over ten minutes on hold to reach someone.........Hey Consumers it's customer service that drives a banks business. Looks great when you walk in as it looks like a big bank. But eerily quiet. Not that much staff here either. Maybe everyone took today off? No, just the norm here. So, you get personalized attention. But can they answer all your questions. Sometimes. However, if you have money with a differnet credit union, can most likely use the atm here at no cost. read more

As usual, put on hold for 25 minutes and finally I hung up. They will let you apply for a call back but when I did that, they didn't call me back until about five hours later. My account had been compromised and I needed immediate help. Just so disappointed in the credit union these days. read more

Your car title,,, first of all they make you try to pay a fee to switch it into their name...don't fall for it that fee is their responsibly.... Plus when cars paid off ..they seem to lose your title ...I have paid 5 cars there. Currently waiting for my Honda title for 3 months...my CBR 1000 title took 2 months then I had to pay a fee to switch it over back into my name 100plus.They are holding your title not taking your car so they do not need to put it in their name ....and then stick you with the fee to switch it back..there was a lady all upset about it when i was paying off my car ......I would really like to sell my car but can't without title.....consumes makes me sick.... So bring in the pay off but tell them you want your title there in person do not let them mail it...head of the finance dept there some young shaky voice guy who threatens you then his voice starts shaking cause he gets so mad....very bad experiences.....horrible never again since they lost my last title....Still waiting. read more

Worst credit union ever. So many times they will deposit my money to someone else account via drive through. One time I accidentally got another persons driver license and came back to return it and in return all I get a apology. I was charged 2 late fees for $25.00 in 7 years and they were only able to waive one due to their own glitch as "one" time courtesy. I asked if I was with them for 25 years would the same rule apply and she stayed quiet. Upper management is worse than lower. All the care about is charging interest and late fee. Do not get a loan with them. Very high interest rate and the principal never goes down. Bad customer service management. They do not care about customer-bank relationship anymore. It has all gotten into $$$ not like before. Take your money to some good bank. Chase bank is much better . Even BMO Harris is way better... read more

When you go to the branch it is highly unlikely you'll speak to someone in person, they have you sit in front of a webcam & talk to somebody. This is not how I wanted to get an auto loan. Then 2 months later I find out they snuck in "unemployment insurance" that I never agreed to and told me I just had to fill out the form & they would refund it & cancel the insurance. They never canceled it & when I called in they "found the paperwork" and told me they would cancel it & refund me the first 30 days but not the second. All before my first payment was even due. Not the first problems I've had with consumers either. Nothing is easy, will be working on getting my loan transferred somewhere else just so I don't have to deal with them. read more

I cannot speak as a customer, thankfully, however as the GM of a motor vehicle dealer I experienced the worst possible customer service. A customer had a loan with them for their trade in and purchased a new vehicle. CCU paid off their own loan and should have immediately released their lien (it's a quick electronic process in Wisconsin) at the time of contract last month. Never received the release and we sold the unit. I called and got an incredible run around. The first person (who did not mention her name) told me I had to provide just about every piece of paper in the deal so they could figure out who their own customer was and that I was really there I'd have it in a few minutes. Two hours later I called back and was not happy as the customer purchasing the unit had been waiting that entire time. This call was answered by "Phil". He was even less knowledgeable and twice as rude as the first person. I told him I needed the lien release right now and that it's not my problem that they failed to carry out their duties as required by law. Well, then he accused me of yelling at him. I said it was nowhere near yelling. Guess what Phil did? Phil asked me if I was threatening him. I asked to speak to the bank manager. Phil offered to fax me a lien release immediately. Without seeing or re-requesting all the documentation the original person required me to put together. Either inconsistent policy or employee incompetence. Phil remained on the line to ensure that I received the fax, which I did. About twenty minutes later our main business line, not the fax line, starts getting fax calls from Consumers Credit Union. Over and over and over. Phil thought he'd be funny since he had already faxed it to the right line. Phil seems to think life is a Seinfeld episode and sending a fax to a voice line is funny business. Finally I get through after 10 minutes on hold. I asked for the fax to be stopped and again I asked to speak to the manager. Apparently the manager id out of the office until January 21st. On January 21st, she and I will be discussing Phil as well as some WI law points concerning motor vehicles. Now, since auto dealers are a large source of revenue for banks and credit unions and CCU would treat us like that, I really can't see them be very good to customers who aren't making them a lot of money. I would not advise conducting business of any type with this credit union. read more

This company has blatantly lied on multiple occasions, and is not worth doing business with. Recently, I was charge a late-fee nearly a week after making my payment, then when I called to ask about the fee their answer was that the fee was from the month before. So, they are expecting me to believe that they waited an entire month to charge me that fee? It is just not true when you look at all the statements and payment dates that had passed. When talking to their Customer Service agents you could tell they are just giving you the run around until you just give up. Put your cash under your mattress, and deal with a loan-shark before giving these people your business. read more

One of the few banks I never have a problem with using the drive thru. They always get my deposit right and the teller recognizes me.

I have to say that I have banked here for years. However, I had a problem with a gas station overcharging my credit card (charging me twice). I went to Consumers with the problem and they took care of it immediately. Then, without warning, they took the money back out of my account assumingly giving it back to the place that overcharged me. No notice, no phone call. It was obvious and I offered them proof that I was overcharged. They accepted this and then a month later took back my money. Sorry Consumers, you've lost my trust and my business. read more
