A person from chase gave their number telling me that was experience number. When I called I did not hear the welcoming sound from experience, and a man was trying to convince me to pay him $350.00 to protect my credit report. BEWARE! This business is using a phone number previously owned by Experian. The numbers are exactly the same - only the toll free prefix is different. When I called, thinking I was connected with Experian and asked about lifting a credit freeze, the employee (Jenness Kissman) did not tell me I was talking to "Consumer Information Bureau in Pompano Beach, FL" but she did ask for information about my Experian account. When I gave it, she tried to sell me protection for my social security number. That's when I realized something wasn't right. Funny thing that all the five-star reviews are from the last decade, and CIB's methodology hasn't changed. First, it pretends it's Experian. "Cory" (who's apparently been there for at least five years) did the same: play the friend, explain how vital it is to have this coverage, yada, yada, yada. Initially, I was considering it, but I needed specific help about an issue with Experian's app and website, and I needed time to think if this "family coverage" was worth $510. "Cory" referred me to Experian's IT department, but I kept getting shuttled to voicemail that was never answered. "Cory" called me several days later, leading with his sales pitch. I told him I wouldn't buy any coverage until I could get the glitch fixed, and if he couldn't help me, could I speak to his supervisor. He said he'd have his boss call me. Later that day, "Tim" called from the same phone number (but when I asked, he gave me the name "Consumer Information Bureau), and made a pitch that was much more catastrophic, emptying bank accounts, voiding Social Security records, etc. All in all, it actually sounded threatening, that the company was basically a protection racket. I'm now also wondering if the daily texts from "Experian" were generated at CIB, and even wonder if they hacked my access to Experian to scare me into buying their "product." read more

Scam. Due to ID theft, I did a quick search on Google for Experian's fraud line. I got this number instead. Bob Shields answered the call, I gave a short explanation of needing to dispute something fraudulent. He immediately starts pitching without giving me a chance to speak. Right then, I had a feeling that I did not reach Experian. I asked him how I can dispute my credit. He never told me how to dispute but kept telling me to buy some $299 ID protection service. I asked how do I resolve these issues and he's goes by buying this right now! Are you kidding me!? He then asks how my credit score was and I told him. He goes well it's not bad but not perfect either. It's ok, I guess. This man tried every tacky sales scare pitch to convince me I needed this. Never once did he disclose he was not with Experian. I finally point blanked asked if I called Experian. He didn't confirm or deny and said he works with all the credit agencies. Callers beware. read more

I was skeptical when I first gave Consumer Information Bureau my money because some bad reviews I read. I can say that I am so glad I'm the type of person that makes my own decisions and I don't go off what others say. The bad reviews that you read are because those individuals didn't bother to read everything. Of course there is a fee. Nothing good is free in life. Someone said that Credit Karma is free and does the same thing. No it doesn't!!!! Credit Karma also doesn't protect you from the Dark Web. If Credit Karma did the same thing, I wouldn't have been scammed out of $2100!!!!!!! And if people just look around, all the good companies charge a fee. Places like LifeLock, ID Shield, and Identity Lock all charge. The only difference is they charge a monthly fee for the entire time you are on their program. Consumer Information Bureau charges ONE fee and you don't need to pay anything else EVER!!!!! Yes if you call Experian you are transferred to CIB, but that is because they are partnered up together. This place engages in fraudulent business practices. My mother misdialed Experian's number, which wound up being this company's unlisted 800 number (obviously by design). An agent named Cory posed as an Experian employee and tried to sell her an identity theft protection product. When she would not give her credit card info, he encouraged her to buy a Visa gift card to pay for it. By intentionally using a phone number close to Experian and pretending to be Experian when they answer, they have designed their system to fool unsuspecting and vulnerable people simply looking for help with their credit. Not only was the staff knowledgeable but was also extremely helpful. This program not only help me turn my credit around from low 500s and getting denied at every car dealership to north of 700 and getting me approved for my Ford F3 50 super duty. I can't understand any negative review of this company unless they work for a competitor or are just negative people. One trick? Click on their user name and if you only see 1-star reviews you know what kind of person you're dealing with. CIB was awesome to me. At first I didn't think that something so simple would work very well, but I was pleasantly surprised. My credit score went up exactly 150 points in three months! Hard to complain about that! This company is a scam. They said they were accredited by the Better Business Bureau and they are NOT. I am in a dispute case with my credit card company at this time because of this business. I cancelled within 30 minutes of the transaction but the company rep said it was too late and that he already sent it out. The package according to the tracking number was only sent the next day.
