I have been coming to this consulate office for several years, since I've lived in Houston actually. A few of the ladies that have helped me in the past are now retired but replaced with just as helpful people. The office is a very small cubical space, super tiny! Over the years they have remodeled the small space and added seating and an additional interaction booth (total of 4 now) for assistance. I do not see the purpose of the additional booth when they only use one or two of them. First things first; an appointment is required. Zero exceptions. The appointments are made online at: http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/HOUSTON/en/Consulado/Pages/inicio.aspx Now, it is CRUCIAL! And I cannot stress this enough, it is crucial that you come prepared because if you don't have all the necessary documents for whatever your visit is for you will not be seen and have to come back. And that would really suck if you're from out of town. They do not take credit or debit cards so bring EXACT amount cash for your passports ($28), visas, etc. In the United States there are a total of (9) Consulate offices of Spain: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Boston, New York, Miami, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. So yes, come prepared if you flew in from a different state or city just to come here. This office does not really take phone calls, good luck trying to reach a person by phone. The automated system is difficult to bypass. Once you are here for your appointment there is zero instruction on what to do for example; Do I sign-in anywhere? Do I just sit down and wait for my name to be called? I stood in line and people were walking up to the booth from multiple directions. Very frustrating if you ask me. I finally just went up to a booth and told the person there that I have an appointment for right this very minute. She ended up helping me on the spot but I think the only reason she did it was because she could tell I had a frustrated look on my face (Resting Bitch Face) and we had been making eye-contact for about 25 minutes with zero acknowledgement. I give the office a three-star rating only because they are kind. Other than that, there needs to be a better structure or clear process on what you do once you arrive.

This hotel had A LOT of pros (and only a few cons), but overall, we had a wonderful stay…read more For starters, it's walking distance to several downtown hotspots. Not once did we feel uneasy (and we live in the Houston area - did a staycation for my husband's birthday). A few years ago, it would be a different story. There are a few homeless in the general area, but they aren't disruptive. We stayed in room 705, complete with a city view. It was quiet and lovely. I wish the rooms had a full-size fridge and cooking area, but for downtown, the suites are just as big as a studio apartment. There's space-themed decor throughout the hotel. I found the valet pricing to be a bit steep, and unfortunately, I have reason to believe two pairs of sunglasses were stolen from my vehicle. (I realize they should have been put in my purse immediately after use, but it slipped my mind, and out of habit, I put them in the console.) Regardless, it's frustrating. It also took 10-15 minutes for valet to pull our car around, so that's something to keep in mind. The evening reception was nice, especially with the two drinks/person/night. We had chips and queso, though they had a few other offerings. Make sure you get the card at the front desk. The front desk staff will also try to sell you on destinations for a cheap rate. I'm not sure when this became a thing, but instead of telling us about the evening reception and breakfast, they tried selling us on a stay in Chicago. I really just wanted to go to our room since I did everything on the app. We also found the breakfast to be worth every penny to stay in this hotel. I can't have gluten, and there isn't any GF bread. I had eggs, potatoes, grits, and coffee. There were cereal, fruit, yogurt, and waffle-making options as well. I appreciated the coffee bar having various syrups. The hotel was extremely accessible for those with disabilities/handicaps. We saw several people in wheelchairs or with assistance. Hearsay on the Green is inside the hotel, and the food is priced well for what you get (and it's excellent). If you DoorDash, the Dasher has to leave your food/items at the front desk. They are not permitted to go up to guest rooms. The rooftop pool and hot tub offer views of the city and Toyota Center (excellent people watching). Overall, I'd stay again (but I'd ensure I brought my cheap sunglasses and not my Maui Jims).

I loved my room and the bar/restaurant was nice. Hotel Staff is excellent. Valet parking was fast.read more

The regular rooms are very nice and the room with a enclosed bedroom is even nicer. Very spacious. It's nice to have a door that closes, but this room has two doors, one that takes you through the bathroom and another that takes you directly to the living room. Breakfast in the morning is great. There's a made to order omelet and eggs any way you want station. They do an excellent job. There's also a waffle maker, one is in the shape of Texas. Plus the regular assortment of bread, muffins, bagels, yogurt, fruit & etc. The oatmeal was very good. We also utilized the meeting space for a large day & half meeting, as well as a luncheon party. Both were set up and executed very well. All of the staff was phenomenal. These are the ones I was able to get their names before I left. All of them went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. My grouo can often be a little bit high maintenance and since we travel a lot we have high expectations but everyone was fantastic. I know we'll br back next year. The beds were comfortable, and the quiet atmosphere made it easy to relax. The complimentary made‑to‑order breakfast is a standout feature. The omelets were fresh and delicious, and the buffet offered plenty of variety. All of the staff members were consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to help. Whether it was a quick question at the front desk or a request from housekeeping, every interaction was polite and professional. There were three women in particular who were the kindest. One at the front desk and two staff member in the dining who passed out a flowers to all the mothers for Mother's Day and wished all mothers a happy Mother's Day. I hope their day went just as well as they made everyone else's. The location is ideal--close to the Energy Corridor, major highways, and plenty of dining options. Parking was easy, and the property felt safe and well maintained. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again.

Overall, my stay was okay, but this hotel just wasn't my cup of tea…read more The biggest issue is how extremely outdated the property is. The walls looked like they had 15+ layers of paint, and the entire building feels overdue for a renovation. The elevators were very slow and had a hard jolt when stopping. There was a note posted saying repairs were underway, which made sense. The pool area was shabby. I know it's winter, but I still would have liked to sit poolside and read a book, and it just wasn't inviting. The booths in the dining area are old and unstable, and you genuinely feel like you are falling when you sit down. In the room, the toilet would not flush properly unless I held the flapper, which was annoying. While the room was visually clean, I left a drink on the table and came back to find a roach in it, which was disappointing. Housekeeping only cleaned the room once during our three day stay. On the positive side, the water pressure and temperature were excellent, and the happy hour was a great perk with free drinks. The location is fantastic. The Galleria is about a seven minute walk and very convenient. This hotel might be a decent option for families looking for an affordable stay, but personally, I would rather pay a premium for a nicer, more updated hotel. The owners really need to put money into updating the property, because the location alone has so much potential

Get rid of rude and disrespectful workers in this consulate who tell applicants pure garbage…read more We went to this consulate to apply for my 8-year old Philippine citizen daughter. I am a US citizen and lives in Texas. My daughter lives in the Philippines and waiting to emigrate to join us. I have her passport and birth certificate proving I am his father. The interviewer asked me for a Power of Attorney?!?. So I asked what's the power of Attorney for? He went away from the interview window and grabbed a Power of Attorney form and answered me that since my daughter is already 8 years old and not 6 years old, she now needs to consent to me bringing her to Japan. They are asking me to have my daughter who is a minor to sign a legal document. I asked for the Supervisor, and sure enough, he stood by what the first interviewer asked me - A Power of Attorney signed by my 8-year old daughter consenting. Does this mean in Japan, parents need to furnish a Power of Attorney signed by their minor children as a proof of their consent that they are traveling with their parents. The interviewer and the supervisor of this consulate should be both FIRED!

She is incredibly rude and condescending, which happened before my family begun speaking to her. It seemed as if she was trying to provoke my family to have an excuse to kick us out. This experience is already anxiety inducing because of the steps of the process. She doesn't seem like a good fit to be working a front-facing job greeting people seeing how unwelcoming and insanely rude (unprovoked) she was to us as first-time visitors. She angrily and loudly gave me unsolicited advice about my personal life as my back was turned and walking away. I didn't say anything to her the entire time. It was strange and unnecessary. After getting through that nightmare of a person the experience was good. The employee that actually helped us through the process was a great man, very helpful and friendly. There are so many peculiarities of documentation that we still have to go home and mail some of it, even though we brought as much as we could possibly think of.
