Looking over the below reviews, I was a bit hesitant on calling them but Segelman Shaw Roofing did…read morea great job replacing our 20+ year old roof. The roof, like most this age, needed some work. Tiles/shingles were getting blown off and I suspected the recent rains maybe causing problems. The neighbors up the street had Segelman replace their roof and they said the price quote was competitive and the work was done promptly and professionally as well. I called John Lozon on a Sunday (leaving a message) and John called me back Monday. He said he would swing for an estimate and using a drone was able to get the info he needed. I had the quote via e-mail that day. When I got back to John he was put things in motion. Workers were out in two weeks and completed the job in two days. The crew was very polite, prompt, and cleaned up after themselves every day. We had to replace our skylight and they took no time doing that. One worker came in to help line up the skylight, he wore a mask as took about five minutes to aid the workers on the roof. We also had let one worker in the house as we replaced the metal chimney that connect to our heater. We though a new chimney would look good on the new roof. He wore a mask and was in and out under ten minutes. Getting a new roof is like going to the dentist, it just has to be done. John made the process easier as he remained in touch and let me know if he saw or his worker saw any issues that needed to be addressed. We had a few issues with the roof but John clearly communicated what they were and always gave us options to consider. I certainly would be happy to recommend them any time.

NEW STEEPLE EXTERIOR MCAS did a terrific job replacing the…read moreexterior of the steeple on our church. We are so pleased with their solution and it was a pleasure working with them. We don't know of any other company in the Westchester area that has the experience needed to perform this kind of work. The steeple, which dates from the original construction of the church in the 1970s, is made of plywood. The exterior had been coated with a thick, rubberized, highly water-resistant paint. Because it was only paint protecting the plywood from the elements, it required a new paint job every 6 or 7 years. And because the steeple is so high and hard to access, any painting had required either building scaffolding or renting a bucket truck. A rather expensive bit of upkeep. MCAS helped us analyze other easier-to-maintain options--either traditional shingles or metal sheathing. We decided on metal sheathing because 1) it would have a cleaner look and be more attractive, and 2) it would last longer. Yes, the installation would cost more, but long-term it would be a simpler and more elegant solution. MCAS gave us a great price on the install--around 20k. And despite equipment hassles (the rented bucket truck kept breaking down), they got the work done in 10 days. There was only one actual installer who was an expert with aluminum sheeting. He approached the work as an artist and did a beautiful, impeccable job. On top of that, he was a super-nice guy. Our new steeple should last for 50 years or more and continues to be a bright spot in the Tarrytown community. Michael Casolaro, the owner of MCAS, has a documented history of high-quality roofing work (customized copper gutters to standard reshingling--the gamut) and we are so glad we went with him on this project. P.S. MCAS also reshingled our roof at the same time they resurfaced our steeple, and they did an excellent job with that as well. P.P.S. Please note, this job was done in spring, 2019. We then lived in Westchester, NY, but have since moved.

I have worked in construction my whole life. MCAS did a nice job in a timely and efficient manner…read more It came down to two comparable bids but I chose MCAS because it's a family run business and I could call Mike, the owner of the company, any time and he would answer. You also have to admire a roofer who breaks off and starts his own company. I have a soft spot for those with an entrepreneurial spirit, improving the US economy. Justine was also exceedingly pleasant to deal with. Responsiveness ranks as my top priority when dealing with large home projects and Justine get full marks, always getting back to me within minutes. They didn't try upsell me or talk me into any extras, they did exactly what I asked for in a quality manner and at a competative price. The crew was friendly and fast. I only had to do some minor yard clean up after they left, which I was happy to do considering the scope of their work. Mike pays them a good wage and that makes a difference in both attitude and craftsmanship. However, the high wage can backfire on the homeowner if additional work is involved. Inquire beforehand about their additional work rates. When I was surprised with the price of the additional work (they had to replace a rotted section of the roof), Mike was happy to explain the math behind the numbers and worked with me get the price down to an amount that I felt comfortable with. Be warned: NYS has very expensive insurance and companies like MCAS have large overhead costs to cover that are added into the price of additional work, so if you think they may uncover a lot of additional work, consider doing it yourself if you have the time. Regardless, Mike was pleasant and willing to work with me. Moreover, they were honest in the scope of additional work performed and did not magically find more or extrapolate. All this is something you can only get from a successful, family run business. A corporate company would never do that. I recommend MCAS. They get full marks on everything.
