Both Alex and Martine Irmer helped us both buy and sell in Old Town Alexandria. We couldn't not recommend them more! If we could have them for our future transactions (we're moving out of the area, we 100% would. Both Martine and Alex were very professional, gave us the upmost confidence in their knowledge of the markets, and served as a good advisor and friend through, what can be, a stressful process. I would argue they have the top pulse on the Old Town market, knowing block by block which homes are worth the value. In some cases, they had previously sold the homes and were intimately familiar with the history, the work done (especially in the case of renovations and flips), and past issues or complaints about the location. Alex went above and beyond to show homes in the market in two days, seeing over eight homes! He worked hard to show the pros/cons of each property, educate us on the inventory, and guide us to the right choice. In both the buy/sell negotiations, you NEED Martine Irmer on your side. She's very smart about real estate transactions, will defend you as a buyer/seller, and knows the landscape well. They began by helping me identify the most cost effective and appropriate repairs and updates on our 120+ year old home to ensure a good sale price. They even assisted me in finding a reasonable and responsive contractor to do the work when my initial contractor fell through. They were excellent in communicating about the process, always listening to my concerns, and ensuring I knew the next steps and what to expect. Initially he answered me briefly and when I told him I wanted to come purchase it, he stopped answering. I contacted him for two weeks trying to buy the truck. After two weeks of him not answering he then lowered the price $3000. Seeing as Mike is a realtor and post a lot on Facebook I can only suspect that he spends a lot of time on his phone and was receiving my messages. Desperately needing the truck I then reached out to him through text message, phone calling, emailing, and even going as forward as to call City Hall when googling his name revealed he's the mayor of his town. Mike never answered me back after over three weeks of trying to purchase the truck, Mike sold it to someone else. I saw a review on yelp stating Mike was not found of out of town people and I have to wonder if this was the case and why he would not sell me the vehicle after trying for so long. If this is how he acts selling a vehicle I can't imagine using him to sell my house or using him to purchase a house. Very unprofessional of someone who holds a public spotlight as mayor as well as a realtor.

She was not able to sell our home and while she did answer questions she was not capable and due to her lack of communication and determination we had to let her go. I wish we would have noticed the red flags sooner. We almost lost the purchase of our new home based on the fact Hometowne was incapable of selling our property. We had no choice but to put our house up for rent and trust me when I say we were alone in thru this process. On the purchase side things got worst. They were the epitome of non communication. There only concern was to make sure they got there money. I spoke with Kevin several times and practically begged him to have his agent Donna help guide us Thru this purchase process His response was unacceptable. The only thing Hoemtowne and Donna Norris did was take our money. If you want personalized attention and guidance for your home needs DO NOT GO WITH COMPANY.
