There are two reasons why I'm starting this review with 3 stars. For now…read more 1. I rent - and all the horrible damage the minimum-wage-paid, non-English-speaking folks did to the yard is someone else's problem. Were I to own the home, I'd be just as pissed as everyone else here. 2. Service has not yet began. After getting a card saying that there's a "wi-fi router included" in the $40/month for 1 gigabit speed - if my first bill includes ANY charges for equipment OR if I don't see anything close to 1 gigabit during that first month - I'll take immediate advantage of the "FREE 30-Day Trial - no strings attached" and be done with Conxxus at that point. It's too bad there aren't ANY good reviews here. Not boding well for the future.

If I could give this company a negative score, I would. I have had nothing but problems with…read moreConnxus from the very beginning. The issues started with my installation appointment. The technician was at my house for over four hours and spent most of that time sexually harassing me to the point that it made my children uncomfortable. On top of that, he was unable to get my internet working at a usable speed. The next day, I called to report both the unusable service and the sexual harassment. Someone higher up in the company eventually became involved and sent a different technician to address the speed issues. He was also at my house for several hours and still could not get the service working properly (but hey, at least he didn't sexually harass me). A few days later, I received a call from someone in corporate who told me my complaints had reached the owner. Apparently, he wanted to know what he could do to regain my business. My answer was simple: provide reliable internet service and professional installation, but now they had to beat Comcast's new promotional pricing. They sent the second technician back out again, this time with a crew to run fiber through my walls. After that, things finally seemed acceptable for a while. Since then, however, I have experienced multiple outages. Their customer service is only available from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., so if your service goes down outside those hours, you are completely out of luck. Every single month, I have also had to call and fight with them to correct my bill because they cannot seem to apply the promotional pricing that I was promised for five years. This company has cost me over a thousand dollars in lost work time. I work from home, and I cannot even calculate the amount of stress and frustration they have caused me. My recommendation is simple: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, sign up for internet service with Connxus. It is, without question, the worst internet service and customer experience I have ever dealt with. I am supposed to begin work at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow with back-to-back meetings. I will not be able to because my internet is down again, and I cannot even contact technical support until they open, which is the same time my first meeting is supposed to begin. I have already ordered equipment from Comcast and will be picking it up tomorrow morning. I am completely done with this joke of a company.

Mediacom - Brandon the insulting cable installer.

I installed a splitter I researched and bought from Menard's along with my own f connectors. The first cable installer that responded was polite and tried his best to fix the problem with the MoCA. He called for help. Brandon another installer got here and tried to talk over me as if I wasn't well educated. He called in to have a software build on one of the boxes and to link it to my moms account. He "had" to get a new box from his truck because they mailed one with the wrong serial number. The first installer said he had tried to trouble shoot and removed it from the account. Brandon told the first installer he would be charged for the box if it wasn't returned. I informed the first installer of his legal rights. The FCC has a valuable tool to report corruption with the cable companies. It only takes 5 minutes to boss up and report them. Here's a link - https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us I installed a modem and router for my mom that she owns. The cable companies don't like that. The have some ridiculous MoCA software protocol that only works with their modems. I ended up running some CAT5 cables from the router to the bedroom TVs. Luckily my mom has a drop down ceiling in her basement so it was a breeze to do. I live in Champaign and Xfinity has way better hardware and company structure. I feel bad for the residents of Charleston having to deal with Mediacom. Before they left I asked for my F connectors back. They were insistent on installing only their products. Probably because they have to have certain length install times to appease customers and build satisfaction. Brandon informed me that I installed a RadioShack piece of junk splitter. I was so offended. I asked him "What? Are you incompetent? This splitter is just fine." Before he left I snapped this picture because it felt as if he was trying to take advantage of the ignorance of the residents of Charleston. I love my mom too much to let her be take advantage of by deceptive installers like Brandon.
