Mcleod's was by far my favorite fish and chips spot on my trip to Scotland. I visited with my mom…read moreand sister and it is juuuust outside the city center, so we took about a fifteen minute jaunt along the river to pick it up. Luckily, the view is gorgeous and it felt perfectly safe even at night. When we arrived, Mcleods was filled with locals and everyone was so gosh darn friendly! The wait after ordering was no more than 15 minutes, then they handed us a giant bag and we realized we may have made a mistake....we each got our own order of fish and chips and the servings are gigantic! I mean, I'm not complaining as it was delicious, but we certainly could have shared. We also got a battered pizza (yeah, that's right, fried pizza!). Even after the walk back to our lodging, everything was still nice and hot. There is no seating inside so this is strictly a take-out joint, and the only parking available is on the street, though the restaurant was quite busy on our visit and the street was not too crowded. Prices are incredible and if we had had a longer stay, I am sure we would have frequented Mcleods more than once. If I lived in Inverness it would be a go to spot for sure!

One of the best Fish and Chips in the UK (for me). I had Haddock and fried scallops. Their coleslaw…read morewas amazing, great for fish and scallop dipping. It is creamy and tasty. I pre-ordered, so I wouldn't have to wait. This place was a short walk from my hotel (AC, by Marriott). Can't wait to go back next time.

Busy, though I'm not sure why because the fish was pretty awful. I was happy to find that they…read moreserved Haddock, one of my favorite kinds of fried fish, but with the first bite I discovered it was not very fresh. This may sound silly, but I don't like my fish to taste "fishy"... Anyway, there were 6 people working, but we still had to wait about 10 minutes before our order was ready. There was no lemon served with the fish. The tartar sauce and ketchup cost extra; Heinz brand. The "forks" were these awkward little modified wooden tongue depressors that were difficult to use. The chips were a little soggy, but the batter on the fish was saturated with heavy oil. The inside of the batter was slimy, so it slid right off the fish - I could barely eat half of it. As I'm writing this, it's been over an hour since I finished this meal and my stomach still feels unsettled. Yuck.

Renatos is situated at the bottom of the main high street, it is perfect for parking with a big car…read morepark behind it. Usually there is a seating area out the front for customers to sit and enjoy there meal. They do have an extensive menu with some really tasty food. There are meal deals, usually for school kids, but the prices are pretty reasonable, especially for the portion size. It does need a bit of updating, as it's a little old fashioned, but it's all in all not that bad. It is very busy and there are usually a lot of staff working, more than likely young people behind the counter. The downfall can be when it's really busy that some customers have to stand outside, which is not ideal especially in adverse weather. Speaking of adverse weather when it is snowy or raining the inside can get really wet and very slippy, and i'll be honest i've been victim to a fall or two inside the shop due to the floor being slippy. Not nice at all. Another down side is that when it's busy the staff get stressed, and mix up orders, a few times our orders have been mixed up. It can also get a little frustrating when the staff start mucking about behind the counter, especially when there is a queue of customers. But apart from that this is a popular little business, and the food is of a high standard. I usually go for a nice burger, and the burger sauce is delicious, my hubby has the fish and he says it is not bad either. Perfect if your peckish and cannot be bothered cooking!!
