Dar A Luz is simply the best. From start to finish, every visit was warm, personalized, and reassuring. I will forever be a patient at Dar A Luz and plan to continue my well-woman visits, and hopefully future pregnancies, there as well. It was absolutely wonderful catching up with Meagan; it felt just like seeing an old friend. I also have a big THANK YOU to say to Eliza and Abigail for truly having my back and making me feel comfortable before my dreaded and unexpected C-section. Thank you for making the experience the best it could have been. The care, attention, and genuine kindness from the entire team make Dar A Luz feel like more than a midwife visit. It feels like family. Thank you for all that you do.

It took me three months of excruciating pain before I could get in to see a doctor. Then I go in…read morethe nurse was really nice asked a bunch of questions. When I actually got to see the doctor I was met with distain and no compassion didn't want to figure out what was wrong. Just wanted to refer me to other people so I went and started again going online trying to figure out my own symptoms. Based on my lab work that was done that the doctor had access to, so I have some type of infection could have prescribed me something based on that ordered some test. I was looked at now just oh well you have a small fibroid and nothing is gonna help your pain. We can maybe try this and maybe try that maybe try this but didn't wanna actually figure it out. Just wanted to refer me somewhere else so hopefully the excruciating pain she put me through for the test actually get run so I can get the results and hopefully get a doctor that will actually try and figure out what's wrong and help instead of criticizing and treat me like I didn't matter

I enjoyed our visits together during my pre-labor visits and she came right away when my water broke and I went to Dar a Luz birthing center. She sat with me during a stress test, talked through the plan to get my labor going, and then off she went to help me choke down some castor oil in a keva juice smoothie. She spent all afternoon with me trying to get my labor going with walks, pumping etc, and finally when we had to make the choice to go to the hospital she met us there and had the room ready for us. She made it so my partner could sleep at night and she stayed up with me while I labored. I don't know how we would've survived my very long labor without her. Once we were home, she provided sitz baths pre-made for me and helped me learn how to nurse my baby. I really enjoyed having a doula. I did get other parts too such as the post partum yoga with my baby, the belly binding, and the meal planning/guide. All of it was wonderful! I highly recommend getting a doula.

I came in after dealing with persistent…read morepelvic pain for several months, including symptoms that strongly suggested a ruptured ovarian cyst. I explained everything in detail to the intake staff -- including the fact that I had experienced sudden, sharp back and pelvic pain while flying, followed by bleeding and ovary pain. However, the provider (Dr. Okun) ignored all of this. The first thing she said to me was, "I heard you admitted you don't exercise," which had nothing to do with why I was there. The pelvic exam was so painful it left me in tears. No imaging was ordered. She quickly concluded that the pain was "muscular" and told me to follow up with my primary care provider. I left feeling completely dismissed and unheard. Years ago, I had sought care at this same clinic (with Dr. Eunice Baca) for similar symptoms and was repeatedly tested for STIs -- despite negative results -- while my actual condition was ignored. It was only after leaving this clinic and seeking care elsewhere that I was finally diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis through exploratory surgery. If you are dealing with chronic pelvic pain or gynecological symptoms, I strongly urge you to find a provider who listens, investigates thoroughly, and treats you with compassion. I do not recommend this clinic based on repeated negative experiences.

Michelle Pino is a TERRIBLE, I can not emphasize that enough, terrible midwife. She is very friendly, but pays absolutely no attention to anything about her patients. I asked her about it and she said it was nothing to worry about, so I didn't. My next check up was at 24 weeks, I still had terrible edema and my weight jumped up tremendously, 25lbs in 4 weeks and my blood pressure was through the roof! She said again that it was normal as long as my urine did not have protein. 3 weeks later, 13 weeks before my due date, I was in the hospital having an emergency C-Section and giving birth to a 1lb baby because I was dying from preeclampsia that was almost HELPPS. as if her lack of knowledge about the number one killer in pregnancy wasn't enough, I went back ... my OB-GYN needs, and now after seeing Michelle Pino during my pregnancy, I go to Dr. Wurzel, or Dr. Gough.
