Teller who handled my transaction and debit card question on 4/4 was wonderful. However, the young lady from one of the offices was cold and unfriendly. I advised that my debit card was expiring next month and I had not received a new one or notification a new one was being sent to me. She did say it would be sent this month. She did proceed after speaking with the teller whom I made my deposit and inquired about my debit card. She had me come over and input a PIN number and I said, usually cards are issued a couple of months prior to expiration. Her reply, No they are not. I said, ok that's been my experience with credit cards. She said give me 3 minutes and your card will be printed. I walked back to the waiting area and thought just give her patience and grace as she may be having a bad day, since she was giving attitude from her initial can I help you...what happened to it ,to no they are not. She approached shortly with my newly printed card and said you can't use it until after 12 and I thanked her and said have a great day. At this point, she greeted the next customer in the waiting area warm, friendly and accommodating. So upon leaving she seemed to not be having bad day I was just the wrong hue. Connex credit union is by far the worst credit union, or bank I have ever done business with. On my last visit, I had a CD that matured. I asked what is your best renewal rate. Since the rate was extremely low I decided to just withdraw my money. The representative then said did you get a letter offering a better rate? I showed my letter, and there was no such better rate in it. She said I could give you a better rate. That's funny because just a minute ago you gave me your best rate. Since I was able to get a better rate elsewhere, and I was tried of the games they play I said just close the account, and give me a check. She then said their check writing machine was down at all locations, and I won't be able to get my money until the machine is fix. I have used them for 12 years. Recent upgrades and policy changes are horrible for small business checking. When I have tried to address this and get an explanation or assistance, I receive that same type of BS answer you'd expect from a large corporate bank. Can't wait for interest rates to go down and refinance my mortgage. Already in the process of closing other accounts. DO NOT do business with Connex!! My HSA account was hacked in the amount of $464. When I noticed, I brought it to their attention and I was told "there's nothing we can do." The WORST! First of all good luck getting any loan even if your credit is good. The customer service reps are miserable and rude. I had a company scam me out of money and disputed the charge gave them everything they needed gave me the run around so long that I ended up getting a letter saying sorry we need more info and it's past the time you can dispute. So yeah the scammer got away with my money. Oh yeah and the icing on the cake they decide to update their systems where I can't get a balance on my account or transfer any funds for 5 DAYS!!!!! I'm here to say that I will never open an account with Connex . My mom recently passed away and we went to the credit union to present her death certificate and possibly obtain a letter stating that she had an account with them. The Manager Frank Pomarico was so rude and unprofessional he was so busy assuming we wanted to get the money out of the account with out a letter from Probate court he didn't realize we were trying to present to him a copy of my Mom's death certificate so they could have a copy for them. After I called corporate on him he lied and said we didn't present a copy. He's a liar and a nasty man. read more

Ok, so. As a bank, Connex is on point. They are 99% reliable when it comes to alerts and my account's safety (maybe even a little overmuch - they change my debit card number whenever there's a breach anywhere I've shopped!) and they're always extremely friendly when I'm in the location. Also, where else can you earn interest on your checking account? Hello! Really my only complaint is that the hours are not really helpful. For example, I found out last Tuesday that my debit card had been cloned. I was returning home from a trip so I thought I'd stop by to get the fraud taken care of, but they closed at 3pm that day. It's really hard to stop by the location when they close so early most days. With more and more banks expanding their hours so people who work during the business day can do their banking in person, Connex needs to get on that trend. read more

I've had this credit union for several years with great customer service and felt safe with my money. Until recently..., I applied for a mortgage and was pre-approved, went so far as the OK for a deposit and suddenly was unable to contact the loan officer. Weeks later I was told there was an issue and was denied. Had i not pressed for info I would have never know the reason nor fixed the issue. I almost lost the house. (Another bank assisted with no problem) 2nd I sent paperwork over for a personal loan, after a month of calling and messages (2-3x/week) with no call back. When dealing with a financial institution, one of the most important qualities you expect is accuracy. Unfortunately, Connex is lacking in this area. When I got my car loan from "The Un-Bank", they somehow managed to get my name and address wrong on my mailings. By some miracle, I managed to get a letter from them and noticed the problem. Connex had to resend my payment coupon book and the information was incorrect on that as well (grace period, late fee, etc.) When I called to clarify, things only became more confusing. For example: My book says I have a grace period of seven days and a fifteen dollar late fee, My quarterly statement says there is no grace period on payments, and the customer service department says the grace period is two weeks with a ten dollar late fee... Very frustrating. When I went to sell my car, it was more of the same. I contacted their customer service department and told them I planned on selling my car. I told them the dealership needs to call when Connex is open to get payoff information, etc. Instead of giving me hours to their customer service department... THE DEPARTMENT SHE IS ACTUALLY SITTING IN... she gave me branch hours instead. When the dealership called "The Un-Bank" for the loan information, they were "Un-Open." My girlfriend and I both left work early and had to shuffle around other plans. We ended up having to take another 30-minute drive back to the dealership the next day to sell my car. I have very bad experience to close my account. It was a car loan and I overpaid my last bill. I receive mail it says I have a credit on that amount. I called to close it and the representative encourage me to keep it open, he told me I will have some percentage on that amount and in case I need a credit or loan I will no need to search for, just make a call and take it. Or if I decide to close it anyway make another phone call and they send me a check. Two years later i receive mail with monthly charge for unused account, it was almost no money left on it, that instead of percentage a was keep it up by representative. I made another call and was told I can't close it by phone call, I have to mail a latter . English is not my first language and it take me some time to wright it . I went inside the Connex branch in Orange and they told me that I could not enter because I belong to a different credit union. They used Covid-19 as an excuse, even though I was the only customer there. Then I go through the drive thru today at 12:25 pm, there was no one there. I would have left but I sent my driver's license and info through the tube. Finally, someone comes and I ask what was going on? The teller refused to help me and sent back my license and slip. I applied for a mortgage loan the last week in May 2020 because I was told by the Connex loan officer that there was a remote possibility that we could close the loan within 30 days and their rates were competitive. I like to support local businesses, especially when often they're more available to deal with questions than a national company. While the officer that took my loan application in no way guaranteed a 30 day close, he said that loan were regularly closed within 6-8 weeks and he had seen them close earlier. Connex uses an outside organization (Members Mortgage, inc) to underwrite their loans. At the very beginning of the process, the loan officer at Member's was pretty responsive. As time passed and I was looking for answers to some questions in order to move the process along, I was stonewalled. Calls and emails were regularly ignored and when a response was finally received (many days later) it was often non responsive to my questions and usually very terse. Finally, in week seven, I was told that the original type of loan I requested was not possible but that the rate would be honored and processed as an investment property rather than a second home, which it is. I inquired as to why this was necessary and per usual, no reply was received, even to this date almost a week later, I've received no reply! It's obvious that the Senior Loan Officer assigned to my application, John McSherry, has absolutely no interest in my loan being approved as was clearly communicated by his insouciant attitude. When I endeavored to complain to his supervisor about his lack of attention, I was not even accorded the courtesy of a return call. Unfortunately, I wasted eight weeks in the process. I've since checked with a few other lenders whose rates were at least as good as the one quoted by Connex and who indicated they could easily accommodate a 30 day or sooner closing. Unfortunately, I may not have the time to wait since it's late in the game and I need to satisfy the closing date I have agreed to. Although, Connex themselves were not directly responsible for the entire incompetency I encountered, Member's Mortgage is part and parcel of the approval process and are a vendors of Connex Credit Union. When I spoke to the manager of the Connex mortgage department, she said she would speak to Members Mortgage and that she was "sorry we couldn't do business." My recommendation is to avoid applying for mortgage financing through Connex and to use one of the many other competent lenders in the area. Rates are at least as good and the service can only be better since it is non existent with Connex. read more

I have been a member of Connex CU for years now and currently have a HELOC loan through them. After being afflicted with Parkinson's disease, we decided that we needed our bathroom renovated so we could put a whirlpool tub in to ease my body pain. I applied for a home equity loan since we have sufficient equity in the house for the renovation as well as paying off the HELOC loan and some credit cards. After going through the application process, I had to wait 2 weeks to get an answer even after making several inquiry phone calls and emails to them. Subsequently, my application was declined, even after I provided additional information provided at the underwriter's request. This process was not only lenghty, it lowered my credit score because of the hard pull on my credit score. I have never been declined before by Connex for various loans including vehicle loans which were all paid off. They boast about all of the money the company has for various things but declined me for a simple home equity loan. I'm done with Connex!!! read more

I have been dealing with Connex Credit Union for over 35 years and in comparison to other financial institutions I have dealt with I have found Connex has the best rates going for savings through their Unbank checking. My only issue is I would prefer to get my great savings rate through my savings account as opposed to my checking which is what Unbank Checking requires (which is why I only rated 4 stars). I have also had my mortgage and home equity loans through them and always got rates and terms that couldn't be beat by any bank I inquired with. In 35 years there have been a few times I had to wait for service and I believe there was one time an error was made but overall I feel their service and hours are comparable to other savings institutions and they have a lot to offer. read more

As soon as I recieve funds from my latest bank certified check, I plan to close out my accounts and do business elsewhere. I have been a member of Connex Credit Union for nearly 50 years. I became a member while working for the telephone company AT&T when it was known as Southern New England Telephone Company and the credit union was associated with it. I kept the account even after leaving the telephone company after the birth of my first child, after a divorce, and even when the company I was working for transferred me to St. Louis, MO., and, of course, after my return to CT. I have been extremely happy with this credit union am very surprised to read any postings that reveal people have had bad experiences. Today I give my Credit Union Connex a 2, now mind you I have been a member since 1984, alot has changed, today picking up my medicine apparently I used all "6" over the phone transfers that Im allowed, well the Call Center associate Rebecca, after I asked her could she do a 25.00 transfer into my cking acct.(which they charge a 2.00 fee) because my car was stolen & I have NO WAY to get to a ATM, & Im in Walgreens. After she completes the transaction, she tells me I need to keep track of how many times I do a transfer over the phone, when I proceed to call her on it, I asked to speak w/ a Manager/Supervisor she refused to put one on the phone insisting everyone was on "other calls" with members, I told her to look at my history I have been a "member" since the mid 80's, then she wanted to know is there anything she could help me with, Im in Walgreens at the Pharmacy counter arguing w/ a customer service person about my $$. REALLY CONNEX!!!! And thats why I encourage people to do their homework on Connex before they join, and I do NOT Co-sign. I have to say its been a rough year financially, and Im soon to see a breakthough, when it comes (and its coming) Connex will get the bare essentials. I will be moving ONI advise others to do the same and if you decide to stay, use this as a tool, when they do and act as if they have a right to say whatever they think they(Connex) can say to its members.
