Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.

Red flags went up when they started making inappropriate comments like discussing other clients financial information or how she liked to 'fire' the clients she didn't like right before tax season. The final straw was when she attempted to change her costs after agreeing to a rate, literally yelling at me that 'I could afford it' and she deserved it. I opted to discontinue service and as a result my books are now being held hostage as they are claiming I owe a termination fee equal to three months service. I strongly advise people to stay clear of this individual and their company.

The company has one employee, the owner Lori, and appears to be a side hustle, emphasis on hustle. Everything was very professional at first and after agreeing on services and making my initial payment things went down hill. I regularly felt like I had to hunt them down for updates or get information. When I did call I would often get yelled at about how they were busy and how dare I call without scheduling an appointment. I found this absurd as I was calling the number she provided and was assured I could contact whenever I needed anything no problem. I should have run when this occurred but trusted my friend that Lori was good at her job and would have my books sorted and well maintained. Unfortunately, I have no idea if this was true, as I was informed in January that I was being fired for not getting them a Christmas gift, when I asked for my data I was told they had deleted everything and to f-off. I would be more upset with my friend but a similar thing happened to them. Currently exploring options, though I suspect the best thing to do is cut my loses and pray I never have the misfortune of interacting with Lori again.
