Stopped here for a break going to Prescott. Very surprised at the fresh subs. Meat was plentiful and salad was fresh and crisp.

They're pruning trees, adding shrubbery... and have continued to raise prices, trying to sell the idea to customers that everything in the store has to be shipped from the Phoenix area, Horse feathers. Everything delivered to Safeway stores is shipped from somewhere. Everything. It doesn't come from a "one big national warehouse"... it all comes from warehouses scattered regionally and doesn't matter whether it's driven 40 miles across the Phoenix metropolitan area or to Wickenburg. Everything is transported, and it doesn't matter whether the store is "remote" and requires highway driving 26 minutes to get there (it takes longer for Safeway trucks to get to Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Tempe, Surprise, Santan, etc than it does to get to Wickenburg -- and the drive to Wickenburg has far fewer traffic bights than those listed. I had to do some shopping there due to a surprise visit from family our of town a few days ago, and stopped yesterday at a store in Surprise: checking 12 items purchased 4 days ago in Wickenburg, the mean prices of the identical items in Surprise were ~23% lower in Surprise. The Wickenburg manager this morning explained the price difference is due to shipping its stock long distances (a lie)... then insulted me with stating that senior citizens and veterans can both save on groceries one day a month... as if the veteran and retired community will wait to do their shopping on only two days per month. Interesting that over 65% of Wickenburg residents are retired (even higher percentages in towns like Congress, Yarnell, Kirkland)... yet Safeway prices are escalting even higher than the rate of inflation. All the work done to update the Wickenburg store's internal and external appearance ("image") is little more than putting lipstick on a pig.

When these Circle Ks purchased new signs they easily could have put an additional display to show the cash and credit price at the same time. No, they wanted to deceive. I am going to try not to buy anything at Circle K again. We have a far superior alternative in Maverick. In other areas there are Quick Trips, Speedways, Arcos and others. Good bye Circle K

I left my ID in the car but we went inside with my parents and we grabbed a bit more than chewing gum. One item my mother grabbed was a canned alcoholic beverage she wanted to try when we got to CA. When we went to check out, I stood with both my parents. The cashier refused to sell us the one alcoholic drink since I did not have my ID on me but I was with my parents. I have gone to many grocery stores, liquor stores, and convenience stores in my life with my parents and they have bought alcohol and I've never been asked to show my ID. There is no laws in AZ that states that you have to check the ID of everyone in the party, as long as there is one person who is 21+. Also in AZ, people under 21 can accompany someone 21+ into a bar but apparently can't buy ONE alcoholic drink at a gas station convenience store. I did not appreciate the rudeness of the cashier (who was an older lady). What if I was a minor and accompanied my parents since they would not want to leave me outside? Would they not sell it to them because I needed to be 21? Does not make any sense. Do better. Will NEVER stop at this location ever again and do not recommend anybody to come here unless you want to be unlawfully hassled for no reason.
