I have been buying beef, pork, lamb and chicken from Date Creek for years. Their food is great and they are wonderful to deal with.

Urban Organic Gardens. They are hiding everywhere. You just have to keep your eyes open…read more I stumbled on this wonderful little patch of heaven while I was on the "Arcadia 9th Edible Garden Tour." It was one of the scheduled stops on the garden map. I had no idea what a treat we were in for as we pulled up to what appeared to be an ordinary one-story quiet neighborhood house. Getting out of the car we realized that this was no ordinary front yard. Yes, it had a small wooden rail fence around it. But behind that fence there was no traditional landscaping, no hedges, no grass, no manicured flower beds. There were rows of beans and corn and tomatoes and peppers! As we walked through the carport to the back, we entered a delightful sun room filled with baskets of fresh produce - all freshly picked and, of course, for sale. (Yep, I bought a few small fresh green items to supplement my salad already in the refrigerator at home.) The back yard was more of a delight than the front. Raised beds. Veggies and flowers. And, yes, there was some grass . . . . but most of all it was a miniature oasis of a farm from my childhood. There were chickens and goats, who all seemed somewhat nonchalant about city dwellers stumbling through their little bit of heaven. My Farmyard is a delightful example of what you can do to "grow locally. produce organically. [&] eat well." One of the services they will help you with is planning your own raised bed garden in your yard. They will help you create a "Planting Plan." Oh, I didn't tell you the best part. If you don't want to convert your yard to a veggie garden, you can sign up for weekly Urban Farm Produce Baskets. Freshly picked seasonal veggies and fruits delivered once a week. They even have half shares that are perfect for 1 person. And extra large shares for families or vegetarians. No more been in the store too long and came from who knows where. These veggies and fruits are grown in your own back yard - or in My Farmyard's front yard! Call and go visit your local urban organic farmer. He/she lives on a wonderful little patch of heaven right here in our city!

I tried to hire Rebecca with Farmyard to help install a small backyard garden as my friend and my…read morefriend's mother had both used her for their gardens with wonderful yields. Both had spent a few hundred dollars to help ensure their gardens were successful. I, on the other hand, was told it would be a $2k minimum just to plant the vegetables (that's with me creating the beds and doing the irrigation on my own)...and that it could be as much as up to $5k. The reason for the price discrepancy? "My location". I'm certain that's not the true reason as I don't live that far away (Chandler) It was either A) not profitable enough for them with the small job I required or B) related to my last name. Regardless, I recommend others take their business elsewhere.

It was easier than expected and I think my wreath came out very well! She also served a delicious salad, soup, and pastries. I would absolutely consider visiting her farm to help support her by purchasing eggs, etc. I would also love to come back in the future if she hosts another event.

So far, I'm into week 4 of Maya's Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) for Winter 2013. I've…read morereally been excited every week to receive the wonderful veggies and fruits. If you are not familiar with a CSA and how it work, here's a down and dirty explanation. You pay a certain amount of money in advance for several months of veggies each week. In this case, Maya's farm charges about $300 for 12 weeks of a whole heck of a lot of veggies that are certified organic. You support your local farmers and you know where your food is coming from. I recommend that you swing by the farm and take a stroll around. You might see Maya. I've met her and I think she's a very nice person. I will update this review with more info but I think the pictures that I post of Maya's Farm CSA speak for themselves. My only wishlist with Maya's farm is to have a half-basket. My small family and I can't finish all the veggies in one week.

The food here is pretty pricey, but delicious. It's a great time when the weather is nice to sit outdoors and enjoy a good meal. The eggs are fresh and most of the produce is too. Would recommend!

2/28/26: it was disappointing eating lunch at The Farm. Years ago we had eaten at Quiessence and…read morehad a lovely time. Wanting to try another of their restaurants before the ungodly heat arrived, we decided to stop in for lunch. Parking: can be a bit nerve wracking, especially parking in the dirt lots east of the place. You have to walk across 32nd St & if you know Phoenix drivers, this can be dangerous. There is a pedestrian light now, though, so that helps -- but oddly enough, there's no "walk" signage. It's merely a blinking yellow light for north- sound-bound traffic so you have to pray to the universe drivers are paying attention & actually stop for you. Ordering: a bit odd. The main door we went in was more the middle door that didn't really take you to the beginning. There's a drink station then the food station. We skedaddled to the right of the main doors for the drink order, only to discover there's another door that people walk through to place orders. So we joggled w/ another customer trying to figure out who was there first. It honestly felt like a school cafeteria, a bit chaotic, as well as cramped. The patio was pretty large & well shaded, but it was also full -- and this particular day also the ONLY SHADE. We were left to sit at one of their many tables on the grounds with no shade. Food: not worth the $77 we paid. I get it's a working farm, & though we try to support local as much as possible, the food we ordered was not good enough that we will stop by again. The strawberry fields salad was a typical salad, no wow factor there. The Italian sammy was dry. There was a minuscule amount of some kind of dressing on it, but def not enough. Dessert: red velvet whoopie pie was so overpriced it's not funny. If it tasted great, I wouldn't complain...it did not taste great. The pecan pie was abysmal; not enough filling and very bland. Two "specialty" drinks, a salad, a sandwich, & two small desserts, for $77? No, sorry, not again.
