See attached photo of text with Travis accusing me of exploiting loopholes. Rhonda and Travis were both adamant that all charges were legit, despite clear evidence to the contrary. The $170 on travel fees were unethical and violated their own stated policy. See attachment. The 3.35% of sales fee is illegal. See attachment. Yet, Travis says it's all a minor bookkeeping error. To me, it's $210 that was wrongfully charged against me. Yes, they refunded, but only after a couple hours of pushing back, denying and accusing me of taking advantage. Had they handled it more professionally and accepted responsibility, my review would've reflected that. But, they didn't. See full review and Travis's reply. After taking a closer look at my invoices from two jobs I hired Direct Service Garage Doors for, I am adjusting my original 5 star review to 1 star, which is still generous. First issue is the fact that they charged an additional 3.5% credit/debit card fee both times I paid for their services. I used a debit card. According to Arkansas law, it is illegal for merchants to apply these % of sales fees to debit cards. One such fee was $70! The second issue involves them charging me an $85 travel fee for both jobs. Their policy, as stated on their own website, states that the $85 travel fee will be waived if customer makes purchases exceeding $85, which I more than qualified for on both jobs. Now, these illegitimate fees are adding up: $70 debit card fee, $170 in travel fees. Total of $240 in illegal and bogus fees!!!! When I called to address my concerns, I spoke with Rhonda. She was beyond rude and pushed back, claiming all the fees were legit in accordance with the law and with their stated company policy. I quoted her verbiage directly from the Atty General's website regarding the illegality of charging % of sales fees to debit cards. I then directly quoted to her their own stated policy regarding waiving the $85 travel fee if purchases were made in excess of $85, which I more than qualified for. When confronted with facts, she then denied their website states that waiver policy. She then whined that it wasn't fair that they can't pass the credit/debit card fee onto their customers. I literally had to remind her that the law doesn't care about our feelings. I then had dealings with Travis, the owner. Travis advised me that he would refund $240 in fees, but then he accused me exploiting loopholes in their policy to take advantage. Let that sink in. They overcharged me $240 and then whine that I'm exploiting loopholes. This is not how you treat customers and I'd seriously consider using any other garage door service than Direct. See attachments that include a screenshot from their own FAQ on their official website, a summary of AR law regarding debit card % of sales fees legality, and a text from owner accusing me of exploiting loopholes.

Amazing how they were able to take my money (was billed twice for the same install) 5 minutes after the work was completed but they still have not given me an invoice after 22 days. The invoice is needed to demonstrate scope of work performed. The customer service people give great lip service but absolutely provide no results.
