    Boardwalk

Coney Island is so cute. I loved the vintage vibes of Luna Park. It's like stepping back in time with all the classic rides and old signage. The boardwalk was full of energy, with music playing and people everywhere, and some people selling stuff. It was really busy. The beach was nice, and there's plenty of seating and food options around. I got a great sunset view, and it was easy to get to on the subway. I went in October and had a great time, but I'd love to come back in the summer to experience it at its peak.

Public bathrooms are nice to have but not so sanitary. Boardwalk and pier are a nice stroll - lots of rides functioning even after Labor Day, restaurants and shops open too. Most importantly, a very short walk from the subway station.

I have mixed feelings about visiting Coney Island. I was deciding between a two or three star, and only gave them the three star because it was a new experience for me. Pros - I've never been here so I'm glad I went to have that experience - It's exactly what you would expect from Coney Island, including the rides, the food, and the beach. Old, dirty and carnival type food. Not necessarily all bad. - It was something different to do which I always like experiencing new things. Cons - I got injured on the Cyclone roller coaster. I had a moment where I thought that I shouldn't be getting on this thing by the way it looked and didn't listen to my better judgement and got on anyway. This is a very old wooden roller coaster that jerks you around too much. I'm surprised more people don't get injured on a daily (maybe they actually do). I ended up with a fractured rib. I highly recommend you do not get on this thing. Ride at your own risk is real! - It's not cheap to buy tickets. Over-priced for old rides. - Everything is old and it could use some updating. I'm happy overall that I went, but have no desire to go back again.

I love Coney Island , so much to do here , so much fun , lots of families and characters to go with it . Hours upon hours of fun and people watching , I love the food selection and rides and of course the beach.

One of my favorite pics of the historical Parachute Ride at Coney Island. When I was growing up Lunar Park was our "Great Adventures."

Coney Island was an amusement resort at the beach. During the 1800's several luxury hotels were built there and a railroad was extended to the resort. Coney Island was described as "Heaven at the end of a subway ride." When I was growing up Coney Island was the place to go to enjoy a day at the beach and affordable amusement park rides. This was my generation's Great Adventures, I have wonderful memories here when I was a child, building sand castles. It was convenient because you didn't have to get on the highway to enjoy a day at the beach, the F-train to the last stop was your destination. In the seventies I watched it decline but the worlds first rollercoaster The Cyclone, Nathan's Famous Hotdogs, Deno's Wonder Wheel, and the aquarium remained. Business's would eventually move back and build up around those amusement rides which are now landmarks. Coney Island is back! Coney Island is a seasonal center operating between Easter and Halloween. Rides and attraction are generally open on weekends from Easter until Memorial Day, all week long from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The beach and boardwalk are open all year round (lifeguards are only on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and Nathan's Hot Dogs and the New York Aquarium are open almost every day of the year. Nathan's sells oysters and clams on the half shell. The Bumper cars are still here. I still love it. Great memories. Bring a blanket. .

If you do not like hanging out in an outdoor beach environment surrounded by working (and formerly working) class, happy people, all of whom are having fun, then Coney Island is not the place for you. But it definitely IS for me. Same as it ever was.

Dirty and hot. No breeze no surf lots of rides but far too hot for kids to enjoy. Lackluster food options and a few tourist trap shops.

Tonight is the last Friday fireworks of the summer. I'm looking forward to meeting my friends there. I recommend crossing this off your bucket list. Recently, I learned that end of summer is the best time of the year. Fall is the beginning of a school year. I posted a sunflower on my Instagram page to cheer a person up. I want to clarify the post. It was my way to say be happy with yourself. Love yourself before you can love another. It wasn't an ending post. It was my way of telling that person that I want new beginning for blue flower and red rose.

First visit to the famous Coney Island! Although it being december and most things being closed it was definitely cool to walk around and check everything out. We walked the boardwalk which was beautiful and can definitely see what draws people there. All the rides and vendors make it look like a great place to visit in the warmer months and a cool old abandoned vibe in the off season which made it great for picture taking and scouting out for future visits. We ate a Nathan's famous dog and we love that some of the shops and store fronts off the subway and main rode in front of Coney Island are open year round which made it worth the visit and 1 hour subway ride. We would definitely visit again no matter what time of year!

I went to Coney Island for my first time. I enjoyed myself but there are aspects I didn't care for. The first was that it was absolutely packed with people. It was a holiday weekend so that made some sense but still, packed in a way I've rarely experienced in my life. My wife and I were constantly harassed for money and pushed to be buy rap CDs etc from roaming groups of kids that simply didn't take "no" for an answer. It was intimidating and we didn't enjoy it at all. The parting comments when they realized we weren't going to buy anything were unpleasant and racially charged. There were people passed out and laying in the middle of the boardwalk we all just walked around. The pier itself was lovely and a lot of fun but it does seem there is an "element" that makes the place feel like we were at risk. We opted to leave before the sunset as felt uncomfortable during the day already. We did find some great ships, restaurants and ice cream places. The train ride there from Manhattan took almost an hour as did the train ride back. It makes for a long and tiring day. I don't think I would choose to go back as I don't enjoy looking over my shoulder all the time.

Coney Island A really fun place to spend the day! My visits before Hurricane Sandy are different. I'm not sure some of the places in my photos are still there. I always enjoy hanging around getting my pictures of the pier and beach too. I like to get there in the early morning. The food is great. There's a carnival atmosphere. The rides are fun. Bring lots of cash and your credit cards. Some places are cash only. The amusement park is historic. I must admit I would not want to live in this neighborhood. You need to be a true-blue beach person. The people traffic in the summer must get hectic. The place is kept clean, people are friendly and I love the architecture. I don't go when it is too warm. I didn't find many trees to sit under. There were plenty of benches to relax. If you haven't been, you should go at least one time. They have replaced the wooden boardwalk now. Go on a Sunny Day so you catch all the colors. The people who visit and live here are colorful too!

This is where I go when I want these things. No longer living in NY, it's an hour+ trip, but always worth it. Many pizzas do not reheat well due to rubbish cheese- not L&B- pop it in the oven around 400°F, and let it crisp back up! Also- the Spumoni- it keeps at a nice consistency in the freezer, unlike rubbish American ice cream- which gets like a rock. The only other Spumoni I buy is from Corona. They're both phenomenal in their respective rights. When asked by non-NY'ers which pizza is my favourite- this is number one for Sicilian- not heavy at all. The crust is light, airy, and flavourful. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect- not swimming in greasy cheap cheese. I have the same standards for Neapolitan Pizza. We can discuss that elsewhere. Please never close shop- at least let's celebrate the centenary!

I have been reading OG reviews for the past few years, and they are a mixed bag of great to…read moreterrible, terrible to great. This was my first time to OG. I went with a friend. Where it lacked: When we arrived, we were told there was a 15-20-minute wait, though the place was very quiet and we could see lots of empty tables. My friend said OK and said to the matière D that we would wait in the bar. The matière D nodded his head yes but never asked her for her name, no did he write down that '2' were waiting in the bar area. In the bar area, the bar tender was absent for what seemed like a long time, then when he appeared and my friend ordered a drink, he said he had to send someone to get a bottle of the booze she had ordered. So this took about ten minutes and still there was no table for us, at least that is what we concluded, remembering that the matiere D never took our names. After 25 minutes of hanging in the bar, my friend asked for a manager, and we were told the manager was not in this day. OMG. NOTE: There were at least four tables in the bar area that we could have been offered when we came in. These were perfectly fine and were all empty. The bartender asked some one to help us, and that person was very upfront and stated to us that she recognized that we 'we lost' in their system, to which I replied ... you mean lack of system. None the less, we were ushered out of the bar area and seated. With all the raves about the bread sticks, I thought they were nothing special and I do wish they would serve them with butter. A bit too many crotons in the salad but a totally beautiful robust mix it was and all the ingredients were cleary fresh. It did not lack of their signature salad dressing. I was under the impression from reading 'stuff' on the internet that the meal included both salad and soup, but soup was not included. I did want to try the Chicken & Gnocchi and when ordering that the server stated it would be no charge. That was a nice gesture. The soup was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it so much that when I got home, I looked for a copycat recipe of it on line. My entree was the Shrimp Alfredo. The server offered to top it with broccoli which I said a yes to. This dish arrived and it was perfect. The flavors were great. The noodles were cooked nicely and the topping of broccoli really did add something to the dish. The portion size was so large that I took home quite a large left over. Same with the salad. I took home a very large portion of salad. And, although there were bread sticks on the table that were not touched by us, the server came by and offered to bring more bread sticks which we said yes too and here too I took some of these home. Though as stated at the beginning of this review, I did not find anything special about them. I ordered a coke and friend ordered another beverage but we had to ask for straws. My friend ordered a steak dish which I though was a mistake to order. This is not a steak house, but she was pleasantly surprised how tasty the meat was and it was prepared to medium as she had requested. We shared the chocolate lasagna cake for dessert. It was very good. When the bill came we were pleasantly surprised that we ate for under one hundred bucks which included the bar drink and the beverages ordered with the meal. Almost in Unisom, as we were leaving, we looked at each other and said 'we'll definitely come back here'.

Two of us went to dine at this location for a late lunch…read more Lots of seating available. Free parking in huge shared lot. Best Buys, Kohl's and a few other shops in open outdoor mall area off Shore Road. ADA compliant location. Service was great (very few customers there). The two dishes we had: 1. Lasagna - so small it could be meant for people on diet, but it was decent tasting; and 2. Chicken Parm - guest enjoyed chicken, absolutely hated the spagetti. The chicken dish was a bit more generous in size than lasagna. They do provide endless salad and bread sticks with meal. The salad was abundant, cold and tasted fresh although it seemed like it chopped up entire head of lettuce and tossed in the stem as well. Nothjng exciting here but was refreshing mostly lettuce. Breadsticks came out warm and for the guest, they enjoyed it. They had a deal where if you purchased a meal, and it cost more than the regular price by about $6+ you get to take home a choice of one of three dishes. They were all pretty much just pasta dishes. Yep, the same as I can quickly make in 8 minutesnatbhome for $2. There were other dishes but they had add on fees. After computing what the dishes were, and comparing the increased dish price vs. regular price if you don't go for the take one deal, the option is really as value basedband worth it if you really thought through the added costs and what yo'd take home. Summarily, it seemed like a good deal at face value but it was pure bait dangled in front of hungry patrons who don't think it through. The restrooms were clean and spacious. The hostess was just there, doing her job. When we left they didn't even pay attention to us at the exit as she was discussing some personal stuff with I believe a waitress. Waiter did a great job. Although we were seated quickly - again other than two other tables we were the only customers there. It was filling up as we were leaving - afternoon early bird time. Would I go there again? Not to this location, but due to the cost vs. what you receive, you could probably choose other better deal at other restaurants with better tasting entrees, even in competing chains. Bon Appetit~

I have walked past it many times and always assumed it was closed. Turns out they only serve dinner, which explains a lot. The dining room is small with just a handful of tables, so it is probably best to come early or make a reservation. The tight space and rustic interior give it a lot of charm. It almost feels like stepping into a place that has not changed in decades, which really adds to that old school Italian vibe. The service was incredible. The waiter, who might also be the owner, was so friendly and welcoming. He made the whole experience feel personal, like you were being hosted in someone's home rather than just eating at a restaurant. Since it was my birthday, we went a little overboard with the ordering. I had to pace myself because I honestly wanted to devour everything that came to the table. The portions are generous and every dish we tried was great. The mozzarella in carozza was easily one of the most indulgent things I have ever eaten. It was rich, crispy, cheesy, and completely over the top in the best way. I thought that would be the highlight until the stuffed artichoke arrived. The stuffing was incredible and packed with flavor. I only wish the artichoke itself had a bit more flesh, but I would still order it again without hesitation! The entrees were just as satisfying. The chicken parm was excellent, but by that point we had already gone too hard on the appetizers, so most of the mains ended up coming home with us. Even though we were all stuffed, I made sure to save room for dessert. The ricotta cheesecake was absolutely worth it! It had subtle hints of lemon and the texture was light and creamy. I will probably be thinking about that cheesecake for a while. Overall, Ortobello checked every box. The atmosphere, the food, and the hospitality were all fantastic. I will definitely be back!!!

It is usually not very busy for dine in when I go, with more takeout orders and solo diners stopping in for quick meals. Food wise, I have not tried their pizzas yet. The Francese was good, while the veal missed the mark for us, a bit chewy and slightly off, though it may have just been that particular cut. Chicken Francese was better but the pasta came out too tart. The Marsala and clam sauce are fine and decent, but dont particularly stand out compared to other Italian spots in Brooklyn.
