It's large enough to cater for just about all your needs in terms of groceries and food, and has a fresh fish counter and delicatessen. The interior is a slightly odd shape, so navigating takes a little while to get used to. The choice of fruit and veg is a bit more limited than we're used to at home quite a lot of stuff is pre-packed, and there are certain things they don't have but then the market is only a few minutes away with several greengrocers to choose from. Other than that, it stocks most things: of course, the choice and brands reflect Spanish tastes, so there are a few things they don't have that we're used to the in UK, and vice-versa. It's a popular branch, and has customer parking and (useful, this) lockers to stash your bags or other shopping while you are going around.

Of course I checked on Yelp and the Mercadona was at the top of the list. It was also located a few blocks away and easy walking distance. The store is rather large, but from the entrance, one wouldn't think so. They have a great selection of food products and other household items. I picked up a baguette, some jamon (lol), brie and white cheddar cheese, potato chips, and a bottle of wine. Oh, and paper towels, dish soap, and a sponge. It was all pretty reasonably priced. The bread was freshly baked but I'm not sure from where. The jamon and cheese were great! And the brand of chips were pretty good. I scored with the bottle of wine as well. Overall, I was able to recreate a cafe meal for less than the cost at a cafe, with enough left over, except the bread and wine, for another lite meal. Overall, this is a great store to shop at. Much like my Albertson's at home, but better...way better!

But anyways workers are nicer here. Well stocked but I guess Spain likes to keep everything stocked well. Make sure you bring your own go green bags. They will charge you for plastic bags. Just a FYI most Mercadona closes at 21:15 which is a lie they close 20:50 or 21:00 always early. I don't know why but don't follow the closing time just get there early. Good selection, fresh produce, it was a good store, decent prices. I think they must have expanded into several buildings because you'd turn a corner and then there was another 90° turn in another direction with more stuff ! It was pretty cool exploring their space. They also had one of those European flat ground escalators that could take a shopping cart up and down as the store was two levels. I didn't need any help, but there were plenty of employees, stocking shelves, etc.

Alcampo at Diagonal Mar is a supermarket/hypermarket located over two floors in the mall. The store…read morereminded me a lot of the big American supermarkets similar to Walmart/Target in style. I visited to get some essentials to return to my hotel nearby. The opening hours are in line with the rest of the mall, as of October 2024, they're open until 9 pm Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday. The store is large, but the layout just seems to make sense, so I didn't struggle to find what I was looking for, the language barrier caused the only issues, but I managed to sort everything out using the translate app on my phone. The store seemed fairly modern through the aisles; prices were no more expensive than anywhere else in Spain, although many items seemed to be priced much higher than I'd expect to pay back home in the UK. The checkout area could use a little extra work, though. The quality of the fresh fruit and meat looked very good, which is something I find so appealing in Europe, although I was unable to make the most of it on my trip. 4*

Went there in 2019 and it was terrific! Wandered around for four hours (Thought they might kick me…read moreout). A lot like Target.. same orange plastic carts, good prices and very close to the same signage, but many things we don't have in the US. Bought ALL the interdental tooth brushes they had. My dentist loved that. Had to order more in 2021 for 5 times the price. Going back again this fall.
