It is also near a variety of cafes and restaurants plus it houses several restaurants on site. All of which are very nice! The room is clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping. Although the bathroom could do with some upgrades. Quite out of date and very little vanity space. Of course, this is specific to the room I stayed in. Perhaps the other rooms are different. Also, no air conditioning which can be stuffy during the summer months. Despite these minor notes, the room is comfortable. The lobby restaurants are a property highlight! I enjoyed the sushi restaurant so much that I visited twice during my stay. Nice quality of food and well varied menu. I also found the Italian steakhouse pleasant. I should also mention that the included breakfast was delicious and offered great options. I will definitely stay again as I enjoy the friendly service, clean rooms and delicious eateries.

Round up to four stars if you're fairly easy to please about hotels. What you get: Great downtown location. Half a block from the train station. Cool older construction; maybe genuinely historical construction, of the main facade building. Pass through the lobby and there's much modern construction behind that, where most of the rooms are (though some are in the attractive facade building). Cool atrium area with a really good continental breakfast. Enormous high glass ceiling. Full bar. Lots of corny potted plants. They have cool dances for older folks here on the weekends. It's actually a nice setting, though the entertainment choices skew a bit geriatric. Big, comfortable rooms with gigantic eurotubs that you can soak in all day. Carpets are pretty thrashed though. Reasonable rates. Cool Malt Whisky Society attached. If you're a member, you can buy litres of interesting custom single malts with really funny names. Very high-end stuff, priced accordingly. Evidently there's a truly spectacular scotch festival here at some point during the year--one of the best in the world, if I understand it correctly. Very friendly and nice staff. From a value standpoint, it's easy to look past the basic nature of the building and the dirty carpets and push this to four stars, no problem.

It is less than a 5 minute walk door to door. I'll separately post more tips on the LEGO House but make sure to book your tickets online and book for the first time slot. You get a discount and can be one of the first people in before it starts to get filled. Back to the hotel - loved the decor. It was very classic Danish and hygge. Also after coming from Copenhagen, it was of great value in my opinion. Breakfast was included with our booking and was delicious! The hotel has a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (days and hours open vary by season). It was very cozy and warm. The restaurant had sheepskin on some of the chairs, candles and cut flowers on tables, live plants and decoration on the window sills, and framed poems and sayings on the walls. So very hygge! The hotel has some common areas with a modest assortment of LEGOs, books and board games. There is a fridge and dining table along with gathering areas with sofas and chairs. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms basic but clean and comfortable. There is a little market with a nice assortment of gifts. The hotel is about a 5+ minute walk to the bus stop (Billund Centret). Very convenient if you're taking the bus from Lejle (take bus 43). Lastly, the shower had great water pressure. It was glorious!

Enjoyed our stay immensely. Personell was kind and engaging…read more We had the "Forkælelses Ophold" that includes an overnight stay, and a fantastic 5-course dinner with wine. The dining experience: Arriving in the charming restaurant, gives the feeling of walking into a real world adventure story. The decour gives the illusion of stepping a few hundred years back in time. Our waitress bid us welcome and showed us to our seats, and shortly thereafter our dinner started. All the courses were above expectations, and the wines accompanied the food well. We had two in our party that does not enjoy red wine, and our waitress assisted in switching to a fitting white wine without any hassle. A lovely evening, with lovely food. The Hotel: Charming and confusing. The old building from 1581 shows its age in the ways that floors and walls are skewed and tilting. It was interesting that it was after the dinner with all the wine that i felt like i could walk straight without worrying about my balance. But this is part of the charm that Hotel Dagmar has. The room was cozy and had all the amenities we could need. All in all, a great stay i would recommend to anyone. The only reason that I'm not giving 5 stars, is because 5 stars are reserved for michelin level dining experiences :) EDIT: Changed to 5 stars as the stars should fall within what can be expected of the price range. And we got a lot more than pur moneys worth. Also, thanks to our waitress Laura for helping us achieve what was an absolutely memorable evening.
