And it was forecasted to be in the 90s for the next few days. We called one company and was told they couldn't be out until Wednesday!! We then called Aire Flo and indicated that we needed emergency service. An extremely friendly and professional woman immediately answered our call and told us that there was a service man out in our area and she would have him call us. He called within the hour and told us that he would be able to come out that evening. It was almost 8:00 pm. He arrived around 9:00 pm and was extremely professional and efficient. He determined that we were low on refrigerant and had our air conditioner up and running in no time. Most importantly, the bill was unbelievably reasonable. In fact, I was expecting to pay double what we paid. I highly recommend Aire Flo. They provide old time customer service. I still can't get over how wonderful our first experience was with them. And no, I am not handing out information to have multiple companies contact me. And it is HOT, so I am in a lousy mood. The AC has been running for nearly 12 hours and the house went from 82 to 81! Frankly I was amazed Pickerington Heating and Cooling aka Five Stars was answering phones at 8:50pm. Furthermore, I was amazed that they could send someone out the next day. We got Noah, the grandson of the man that founded this company 45 years ago. Noah carefully, without regard to time, analyzed the entire system, the furnace, the heat pump. And he was very nice in telling us that the expensive aprilair filter needed replacing soon and Amazon was a good choice. Our system is now a senior citizen. We could plow $$$ into it and if we were lucky, maybe get another year or two out of it. Okay, how much to replace with a more efficient unit? We decided with a 10 year parts and labor that replacing was a better use of our money. In setting things up, I learned that this company gives back to people returning to society. I like that. When you've paid your debt, it is nice to get training and a job. I learned a few things. Keep the thermostat at a constant comfortable temperature, for us, 78. Don't open the windows at night unless there is no humidity. Don't go any lower than 55 in the winter. Do I wish it was cheaper? Yes. This has been a month of big bills. But I have lived here 45 years and this is my 3rd system. You own a house and systems get old. I thought Pickerington Heating and Cooling was knowledgeable and responsive. Yes I know this review is LONG. The next day Billy and Alex showed up. I liked both of them. They put on booties and protected my floor and carpeting with coverings. Expertly they installed my equipment. They caulked around the ducts, even going into the crawl space. And floors were swept and cleaner than before. Loved Billy and Alex. I am pleased.

After getting a few quotes we decided on Pickerington Heating and Cooling aka Five Star Home Services. They also easily installed the smart thermostat we had purchased. The installation techs were friendly, quick, thorough and clean. We would highly recommend calling Pickerington or one of their other local branches.

This largely went okay as first, they came out the same day we had called them and scheduled for the work to happen two days later, a good turnaround all in all. The problems started when I when to check in on them and they had placed the new water heater in such a way the it mostly blocked the crawl space entrance (and only furnace access) without consulting me at all even though I was on hand at all times. The next problem occurred in the following days when I noticed some items missing from the area around where the work happened. I had called up and mentioned to them that some items had been stolen and they didn't want to talk about it at all. The final issue came up about a week and a half later when my heat went out again. The response on this was slower and this wasn't resolved for another two day, and I had to hassle them to even get them to come out. The tech told me that the furnace had been wired wrong and so when the heat turned on it blew the unit's transformer. In the end, they were cheaper than other competitors but it wasn't worth the hassle. TLDR: They made baffling decisions without asking, stole personal items from me, and wired the hardware wrong that resulted in us not having heat for multiple days.
