My company paid for me to take the basic, intermediate, and advanced Access courses for three consecutive days. Due to covid restrictions, I decided to take my classes online and it was easy to follow. The classes started on time and Karen was exceptional in answering our questions and providing step-by-step instructions on how to execute functions. I always preferred to work on Excel, but Karen really showed the true power of working in Access. I work with large datasets and tables daily, so being able to evaluate the datasets and make updates and changes without excess formulas really simplified my job. The books are hefty and there's lots of content per class, so not likely to review all materials. However, the books are great resources I know I will be referencing for many years to come. read more

The CompTia A+ course I enrolled in was great. The school offering the course not so much. It seems the school really gears itself towards students who have the WIOA grant. Since I paid out of pocket, I had to ask and have emailed to me materials other students could retrieve via their online portal. In the end, after I received my certificate of class completion, I was on my own. It seems that those WIOA students will have their exams paid for and have access to post-course practice exams. I, as an independent student, wasn't entitled to that but was "gifted" similar info from Udemy. Also was provided the link to enroll (and pay) to take the exam if I'm interested in that. Why would I not be if I paid for the class in order to take the exam? So my lesson for anyone interested in this school and you're paying for your classes out of pocket is to shop around. Please research and look at other schools. I wish I had done just that before taking this course. read more

I can't recommend Computer Training Source (CTS) enough. After getting my WIOA grant, I researched several schools and reached out to a bunch, but CTS really stood out because they genuinely care and are so responsive. The teachers are top-notch, and the practice materials and exams are incredibly helpful, and all those virtual labs to clear concepts giving you a hands on experience was super helpful. I passed Comptia A+, Security+, and Network+ with them, and Patrick and Peter were amazing always there to answer my questions and clear up any confusion. They're super friendly and always give you all the info you need. Plus, having the option for both online and in-person classes made it so much more convenient. Absolutely loved my experience with CTS. I was in a 1 day course for Quickbooks. The instructor was very helpful and patient to all students (even those with technology challenges). The course syllabus covered the basics which have made a big improvement in my comfort and ability to navigate the site. I trained virtually for Microsoft Office classes with CTS. I have to say, the Director, Tech support, very supportive and accommodating. The class Instructors were very knowledgeable and pleasant, however, they varied a bit in teaching structure, most followed the book exactly, over all they covered all important material. The classes are recorded if needed for review, or option take class over if desired. I do have to say though, the recordings are of the actual classes so some have a little more extra 'chatting' could be left out, but over all staff very peasant and helpful. There are not enough good things to say about the staff at CTS. From my initial phone call, to the start of my participation in their Administrative Assistant Program, professionalism is the first word that comes to mind. The instructors are all well versed in the various programs. Each bringing a unique perspective to the software. For an instructor to open up Excel for me, where it all makes sense, well there was a huge sigh of relief from this gal. The staff here really care about the students, and making sure the understanding is there. FYI-you can retake any class within 6 months. Pretty good in my estimation. You also take home a substantial binder as well as a disc containing all of the exercises covered in that day's lessons. I've just begun, and feel like I've come so far already. I just took two HTML courses at the Chicago location this week. One word: Excellent. I was so impressed with the structure of the course which combines both theory and practice. Both courses start right away with showing you how to develop a web page using HTML and providing clear explanations on the logic behind each concept. Both instructors, Dan and Ryan, were fun, knowledgeable, and patient. They both were very passionate about the subject which kept the energy level high and made it more interesting, and it created a sense of confidence in me that I could grasp the concepts. I'd like to add that the location was really easy to find and perfect for me since I rely on public transportation. The facility is really nice, airy, and the training labs are intimate. I also like that they have a break room that is open to students. I'm dieting so I didn't need to eat out! I recommend you try a course. Took HTML yesterday and Adobe Fireworks later in the week. Immediately when I walked in the receptionist was extremely friendly and attentive. She made me feel very comfortable and made sure I knew where the classroom/break room and restrooms were. (The break room has a fridge and microwave if you bring your own lunch which they don't indicate on the website but it's good to know.) Even in passing other staff or instructors, everyone was friendly and welcoming. I usually find training classes to be boring and tedious however the instructor was enthusiastic and attentive to everyone in the small class. The equipment was all new and clean (there's nothing worse than computer training on a keyboard storing grime from thousands of previous users) and properly functioning. Materials covered were as expected and the cost of the class was reasonable and you can 're-take' a class you've already taken any time 6 months after. It's apparent that this place has their sh*t together. If you need a low cost way to learn new or improve computer skills I highly recommend CTS. read more

I have wanted to learn more on Excel, so that I can be better myself within my field. I really learn well in, an in person setting and Due to COVID- 19 that has been just impossible, however when I stumbled on Computer Training Source they were the only company in Chicago that was offering that, so I jumped on it. They take great measures to make sure you were safe, socially distance but able to learn. They check your temp at the door, you have to wear your mask the entire time and there is no more than 6 to 10 in a class. I had 1 other person that was in my class and 1 online, total of 3 Plus they even had a sanitizing station area. I had a great instructor, her name is Karen Haney. Karen kept me engaged, had me wanting to ask questions and gave great one on one help. I learned a lot and had a lot of light bulbs going off in my head. The best part is she even kept the student online engaged and we were all laughing by the end cause we felt comfortable, and that's hard to do. The class was so good that I recommend it to a colleague that's in our San Francisco office and I recommend that you try it out to, it's worth the money! read more

The company I worked for thought I needed to brush up on my excel skills so I took a two day excel course. The instructors were fine. They told us ahead of time to bring a thumb drive so we could save the tutorial and the work we did in class. A little over thirty days later, I plug in my thumb drive and the tutorials are now blank and my files also blank. All other non CTS files were just fine. That left a bad impression. I was not impressed and I thought the class was expensive. I will give them credit in that they do allow you to retake the class at no charge so that is a plus. I will admit this was the only time I have taken a software class so I did not have another experience to compare it to. read more

This review is based on an overall experience. The facility is clean, organized and the instructors/staff are friendly and professional. This is a place where you waste company money and time, however, if you are paying out of pocket it is expensive and the content offered can be found with a quick Google search, ex: YouTube and for the cost of one CTS class, you can receive an entire year of tutorials on Lynda.com. Personally, I do not think it is worth the money, but if you choose CTS because of their reputation on Yelp and years of experience like I did, I suggest purchasing classes individually, you have up to four days prior to a scheduled class to either cancel and receive a refund or reschedule, although if life throws at you hazardous weather conditions like this past week and you have to reschedule the day before, you forfeit any refunds. Unfortunately, I cannot reschedule another class because I am leaving the state and management refused any partial refund. My pick four became a pick three @ $799 because I paid up front for what I thought would be a deal. I ended up paying $266 for each class anyway and limited to the choices within the pick four package. Minus the hour for lunch, this class cost about $45/hour, plus transportation costs, etc. etc. In the end - I feel cheated. read more

I am so happy I finally took a class in HTML. I was very nervous at first because I have ZERO experience. Thankfully, as soon as class started, I realized it was not a problem. He allowed us to ask questions when we had them, instead of waiting until the end of class. We were able to follow along with Excel on computers there, no our own. I took the CTS class Intro to Word. I currently work in an office, but was a stay at home mom for 20yrs and needed to strengthen my skills. Wow, what a great class to take. The instructor, Sandy, was awesome. She took the time to explain when we did not follow what she was doing, she showed patience and exceptional knowledge of the material. Such a Rude owner! I had Excel class today. I drove from North to Downtown like 2:30 hours. There was an accident close to Ohio Street and got stuck unbelievably for almost 1 hour. however I called at 8:30 am and NOTICED that I had stuck in traffic and would be late. By the time I got there was almost 10 AM. I couldn't have found the building and called, The owner answered the phone and with a rude smile , he mentioned "there's no need to find the building because you cant go to the class." so was I had already called.....they are not gonna even refund me .Its ridiculous. You cant treat people like that who invest on your business. Such a shame.... read more

I can't on good conscience recommend Computer Training Source after taking 3 courses - Access beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Let me preface by saying, the facility is very nice/clean, and the instructors are very knowledgeable. 5 stars to them. So why one star? I went into the class knowing very little in Access and left the class knowing very little in Access. The expectations people have going in, including myself, are not realistic with the knowledge you will have coming out. Over 50% of the students took the class, took it with the expectation they WILL PASS the Microsoft Access certification when the class is complete. That is NOT going to happen. I am not leaving the review as someone who is bitter about having spent the money and not putting the effort in. I can tell you, the manuals they passed out are in front of me, at my desk, and I try to apply them to my business needs in Access. Access is just too robust or a program to learn in 3 days. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and take a college or junior college course in Access. I read reviews all the time and ignore most because I trick myself into thinking it will be different for me. To reiterate the one star is not for the course materials or instructions, it is for setting poor expectations. All the while they are happy to take your money and DO NOT provide refunds if you are dissatisfied. They merely offer the ability to take the course again. Do not take this course thinking you will know how to use Access after three days - you will not. Caveat Emptor. read more
