Were brilliant. Had good engineer paired with good front-of-house man (Jack), who discussed the problem, returned telephone messages, replied to e-mails, nothing too much trouble. Built me a special, oddball machine. After 18 months that failed, NOT their fault, Windows update screwed it up. So naturally I went back to them for help. Ye Gods have they changed! With Jack, gone you just get fobbed off with "it's not ready yet" and "engineer's not picking up" week after week after week. Eventually I had to demand my property back and cut my losses. I will never use Computer Assistance again and would not recommend them to anyone. Terrible communication, 9 months of wasted time and money and I still have a computer that doesn't function properly, despite them rebuilding my IBM Think Pad and buying a Microsoft Surface which they set up for me. They recommended Microsoft 365 as they are a partner and they don't know how to handle it. I had faith in them and they have let me down time and time again. If I had the time or the energy I would sue them as I am so angry with their service. I truly believe all they are interested in is taking your money. I have been going to this shop since they were further down the Cowley Rd. They really bent over backwards recently to sort out my Mac laptop when I managed to spill coffee onto it, They were able to email my documents to me so I could keep working while the laptop was having all its insides cleaned out of sugar and milk. A thoroughly useless shop. It is over-pricey when it comes to repairs - oddly enough every repair we had there never 'took' and when we got the computer back we were generally charged more than originally quoted. Another little extra was that when our computers original fault reappeared other faults came to the party too - but when we would try to raise these issues with the owner he turned deaf ears to us. Yes, I can see why the owner hated the corporate world - the corporate world is usually well regulated and its consumers protected. read more

I took my computer here that ive had for a year with some problems concerning word. i wanted word uninstalled. The technician told me my hard drive was broke and if i didn't replace the drive my computer would break completely. He tried to charge me £160 for this job that i was quoted to cost around £80 by three other independent technicians. I had a feeling this was a bit of a fishy deal so i asked a friend who is good with computers if my hard drive was the problem, befor he even saw the computer he was 100% sure the hard drive was not the problem. Not only this but the hard drive WASNT broken atall, infact it is in good order and works fine till date, i simply needed a few viruses wipeing from my computer, instead of £160 to fix somthing that wasnt broke i have paid £40 for some clean up and backing up of files. In short AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS, they appear only to function to cheat you of you cash with the fact that they have computer knowledge that you cant comprehend. read more

I had a faulty laptop in for diagnosis for £23. We agreed that it would take 4 days and they phone me with the results. I had to call them 5 days later, they said they were busy so it would take more time, but they would call once it is completed. They never called and to my surprise when I called again I was told the laptop was fixed for £78 which I never authorised. The most annoying thing is that it was the RAM and it only takes 5 minutes to change, and they charged an hour labour for it. I could have done it myself saving £35-£40. As it was urgent I paid and didn't argue. I told my concerns to the staff at the till who were quite ignorant. read more

Worth driving to Oxford for! I spilled water into my Macbook. PC World told me come to them in Cowley, it turns out it just needed cleaning out and now its still working 2 weeks later. They did warn me the keyboard might not work but it still seems ok. so good news I would recommend them. read more
