As with many things, you get what you pay for. PRINTS Do you want cheap photo prints ready in an hour that you print from your phone but are of mediocre quality and might get cropped funny? Or do you want high-quality photos printed in about a day that will last for years? I chose to get my photos printed at NY Camera. You email them the photo and they let you know when it'll be ready. Because digital cameras take pictures at different ratios than frames, I had kind of a funky situation. I proposed a solution (e.g., print with white space on top). NY Camera did that. AND they also printed two other possible options, one of which was WAY better than what I proposed. I chose their option, and they only charged me for the one print. FRAMES Do you want a cheap frame that gets shipped to your house overnight but that you have to assemble yourself and look okay but not great? Or do you want a nice frame that works with your picture? I got my frames at NY Camera. Not only did I get the right size, but they also provided input on the best color to enhance the picture. AND THEN: The owner opened the frame box, checked that the picture would fit, trimmed it carefully until it would, obsessively cleaned the glass of the frame until there wasn't a speck of dust or fingerprint in sight, and then put it all together for me. CAMERAS Look, I love online reviews. I love tech blogs. But sometimes you need a real human. While picking up other stuff, I've heard the staff engage in depth with customers about the merits of one camera over another, used versus new, benefits, drawbacks, etc. They know their stuff. And not just their new stuff. My dad has a camera from 1950 that he loves. They lovingly provide the tune-ups it needs to stay in shape. I live out of town, but whenever I'm back and need something, I'll come back here.

The pictures came out amazing and we had so many different options to choose from- we had all of the traditional poses/combinations as well as so many amazing candids to choose from, she must have been walking around all night. It was great to go through all of the pictures (which not all places let you do) and see the memories that we otherwise would have missed. All of the pictures were touched up and edited within a few weeks after, and she even put together a video/slideshow for us! Our wedding was in November 2015 our contract said that we would have our DVD in 4-12 weeks and 32 weeks later we got the DVD with a ton of issues spelling and the video itself. When we asked him about it he said it was because he was trying to get it done and "in a haste" he made mistakes. On top of that when we first approached him to fix the video he told me there were no recuts. Then when it came time to do our album we went from having unlimited pages to 10 with a max of 3 photos per page. We reviewed the contract and non of what he said was in there. For the money there are MUCH better photography companies out there!
