A couple days ago he experience severe stomach pain and vomiting which we thought was likely a virus. He went to the ER where they did a CT scan and found what they believed was an 6-8cm mass in his colon that caused a bowel obstruction. Before being transported, that ER doctor called to talk to Dr Panzer about the recent colonoscopy findings. I don't know what was said other than he told the ER doctor he doesn't go to the hospital. He was admitted hours later, another CT scan performed where they confirmed the mass. Over the next day we saw oncology, GI doctors and specialists. Everyone was as shocked and confused as we were on how nothing was found. I wanted answers or guidance from Dr Panzer so I called the office to speak with him. I spoke with Kyle, the office manager that was concerned and said he would have Dr Panzer call when he got out of procedures mid day. Nothing. No follow up after the first ER doctor called, no follow up from Dr Panzer or Kyle, or a nurse, nothing. Fast forward, further review of labs and scans, they believe that during the colonoscopy there was a perforation to the bowel that abscessed or became infected that lead to thickening of a section of the sigmoid colon causing the obstruction. It was to risky to go in and biopsy so he was on IV antibiotics and sent home with oral antibiotics yesterday. He is doing much better and we will follow back up for new scans and next steps in a couple weeks. I do believe Dr Panzer has a great bedside manner but the lack of follow up or concern to something this serious is so disappointing and negligent. Beware!

They have become closer to family over the years. They've seen me at my absolute worst. They've been my support mentally and emotionally. I trust them with my life as they have fought tirelessly for me and have given me my independence back. Dr. Joseph is in the business of resolution AND prevention. I've listened to him (albeit stubbornly at times) and have gotten healthy because of his knowledge, and now I intend to stay healthy because of his preventative care. We don't always like to hear what our doctors have to say about our health and how we might be tending to our own care, but sometimes we really need to hear it in order to be the healthiest we can be. I owe all of my gratitude to this wonderful care team of mine and cherish this relationship we have built over the years. It will be a bittersweet day when he decides to retire. Out of all the doctors and medical staff that I have dealt with over the course of my disease (20 years), Dr Joseph and his team are the very best of the best. They've treated me with respect and compassion, and they genuinely care about the wellbeing of their patients. They call and check on me in between appointments to make sure I am doing well and work tirelessly to find the answers needed. I am so grateful that they are in my life.

I've been hospitlized for 6 days now - she's the consulting GI doctor and has tossed the idea several times that I have Ulcerative Colitis - yet, seems to refuse to confirm the diagnosis with a colonoscopy that even the attending phys and RN's here at the hospital are demanding. DO NOT - and NO this is not my first experience with this quack with the health issues I have but seems to be the only dr in Denton the hospitals use.

My experience with Dr. Vijaya M Dasari at North Texas Gastroenterology was extremely disappointing…read more I had called in advance to inquire if testing for food allergies or sensitivities was available, and I was told that it was. However, when I had my appointment on Friday, September 27th, things quickly went downhill. My appointment was scheduled for 5:15 PM, but I was not seen until 5:45 PM. When I finally met with Dr. Dasari, I expressed concerns about my digestive issues and potential food allergies such as lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity. Dr. Dasari informed me that there was no way to test for lactose intolerance except through elimination from my diet, which was both surprising and inaccurate. Upon further research and consultation with another gastroenterologist, I learned that their office offers the lactose breath test, a recognized method for diagnosing lactose intolerance. Additionally, I discovered that a blood sugar test and stool acidity test can also identify lactose intolerance. None of these were mentioned during my visit. When I asked more questions to clarify, Dr. Dasari simply responded, "Well, I'm a doctor," as though that should be the end of the discussion. Being a doctor does not necessarily mean all information provided is correct, as this situation clearly demonstrated. Additionally, I asked Dr. Dasari about gluten sensitivity, as I had taken a DNA test that indicated I am a carrier for celiac disease. Instead of addressing this concern thoroughly, she mentioned that a blood test could be done "next time." She then palpated my abdomen and said, "See that your stomach is soft? You're normal." As I continued to express concerns, she dismissed me, laughed at my face to all my questions, and ignored me, following with an awkward silence and failing to provide clear answers. Throughout the consultation, I felt as though my questions were not taken seriously, and I left feeling embarrassed for having raised legitimate health concerns. Dr. Dasari also emphasized "cleansing and eliminating" as a solution and prescribed GaviLyte, advising me to take Miralax daily after that. I understand this advice, but I was looking for a confirmation by a professional and a proper diagnosis. While I understand that this approach could work, I was looking for medical confirmation rather than a self-diagnosis. I have never experienced such a lack of attention from a medical provider. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, devalued, and frustrated with the overall lack of professionalism and attention to my medical needs. I understand that I'm young, but I still have concerns about my digestive system especially since I've had family members who had passed away from related cancers. It was a really sad experience, I still can't believe she laughed at questions of concerns and answering each of them with "I'm a doctor" and that "I'm too young to have any gastrointestinal issues." She told me to come back after I'm 50, which is apparently when gastrointestinal issues start developing. I would not recommend Dr. Dasari especially if you are younger than 50. This was by far the most unprofessional and unproductive experience I have ever had with a healthcare provider. I ended up seeing another gastroenterologist after. I felt heard and was not neglected. I was diagnosed with IBS and I was also given tests to determine my food allergies and was able to confirm all of my questions. Now that I got the proper diagnosis, I am now able to treat it at a younger age and know what to do to prevent potential future health issues to myself.

I will say this -…read morewhen I called the office to voice my frustration, the young lady who answered the phone and heard a bit of my concerns, said she would ensure that Crystal (office manager) would get back to me. I was skeptical. Well, Crystal DID call me, and was super gracious and empathetic to my frustration, concerns, etc. She went way beyond any sense of "customer service", to ensure that I felt like I was being "heard". That same day, immediately after lunch, Dr. Raj himself called me as well. He was also very professional and apologetic that our paths did not cross the day of my husband's procedure. He went through part of the procedures, of what he saw, why he took biopsies and what he was concerned with. He did assure me that either he or Crystal would be the ones to reach out to me once the pathology reports came back. Fast forward about a week. Crystal reached out to me, and went thru each of the tissues biopsied. We had our follow-up today (09/25) and Dr. Raj was very personable even though it was the end of the day. He explained the next steps and assured us that the procedure would be sent to the VA to ensure their approval and payment. We feel much better with this office now.

We are no longer going to this office and if I can be objective about it, I think this is 70% the…read moreoffice staff and 30% the specialist. The office staff has come off unprofessional and disorganized. They give incorrect information that they do not hold themselves accountable for and they do not give their name on the phone/introduce themselves so that you can follow up on this misinformation. It's been a disturbing mix of things from telling me their rates were $100 less than the actual cost, cancelling appointments in less than 24 hours, not returning calls and not sending lab results. Frankly, it's exhausting to deal with them. The office manager Crystal has been the only one who has a helpful demeanor and has been apologetic about the problems, but I can't give her too much credit as she hasn't returned any of my calls in the last 9 days. Since Dr. Raj works some mornings at the hospital, he may have emergencies. Our first day there they told a gentleman who came in that they called him to cancel his appointment and he showed his phone had no missed calls. They were unapologetic about making him miss work and wasting his time and he was understandably upset. He raised his voice slightly as he left and they actually LAUGHED. We were appalled and knew we wouldn't return after our follow up! That same visit was a reschedule that I was told was for 1:45pm, so we arrived at 1:30pm. After we had been there for half an hour, I was told the appointment was actually at 2:15pm but they wanted me to fill out paperwork. On that same call I had confirmed they received the paper work I had emailed Monday- so either someone isn't great with listening or isn't great with the truth. Anyway, we ended up being there for 2 hours, time I also took off work. I've had to work really hard both to get an appointment and to pay them, as they always assured me they would follow up, but never did. I had to call several times to even find out they had the referral, I called several times to confirm the amount. I don't know if they didn't return my calls because they didn't want to get yelled at for it being $100 higher than they told me or if they just don't return calls at all. Regardless, it's rude and unprofessional. If you can't work a phone, ask for me to call you back at a certain time. Still, it's ridiculous that they don't know their own prices. I was put on hold and still ended up paying about $75 over what I budgeted for. If I misquoted someone like that at my job, I would have to eat that amount- the least they could do is train the other members of the staff to take their jobs seriously and own up to their mistakes with an apology. Instead they are content to let their office manager deal with the brunt of it, which indicates she isn't holding them accountable either. They like to brag that they are great about communicating with the referring doctor, but that's inaccurate. I was told on 4 occasions that they automatically send the results to your PCP after giving you the results. It's a good thing I got a hard copy during the visit, because after 10 days and several messages I had to give my hard copy to our PCP to scan (they had zero files from Dr. Raj). Why tell me you will do something you can't manage? It ends up wasting more of my time and energy than if you were upfront and left it all to me in the first place. In regards to Dr. Raj, he is a poor listener and communicator. He literally holds the paperwork you spent time filling out with family history and does not read it, while he asks you all the questions that are in it. Then he asks you the same question 3 times in a row. He couldn't seem to understand that my husband was sent to him due to serious family history and needed some genetic testing done with his labs. It's very disconcerting to think you are paying $100-200 for 7-13 min and you aren't even being heard. He dismissed our concerns about the possible negative effects of certain medications on the liver in a way that made little sense and didn't try to help us understand. My husband requested some tests be run together to save us money and save him his issues with the needle, but Dr. Raj keeps ordering tests. When we expressed concern, he lectured us about how he doesn't get paid on tests. What do I care how much he gets paid, I care what I'm paying. His bedside manner is unapologetic and unconcerned. After dealing with his staff and the wait times, that attitude was just too much. When considering a doctor, think hard about what's important to you. It's possible he is better with patients that come to him with an existing treatment plan and less questions. This doctor may be a good fit for you, depending on your priorities, only you can decide that. I just can't imagine how frustrating it would have been to waste even more time and money with him for such little information. We have gone back to our PCP and will get a new referral if she deems it necessary.
