I came in at 10 for Physical Therapy. It ends at 11. And usually I'm seen by Chiropractor within 10 to 15 minutes. At 11:20 I went to the front desk and one of the ladies made a face concerned that I haven't been seen yet. She said she will look into it. At 11:30 I walked up to the front desk and said I'm leaving. This is the second time it happened. If it was the first time I would've written it off. I did not write a review after the first time the physical therapist was not told I was there for a treatment. One of the staff went into James's office and said I was waiting to see him. Yes they gave me a last-minute appointment that morning. I don't know if his schedule was updated or what happened, but he had no idea that I was there and had an appointment with him that morning. This isn't a large office. Luckily the first time, one of the staff noticed me sitting there and alerted James. He said he would look into this and it wouldn't happen again. Well today, I waited 30 minutes. I watched people who came in after me get treated by the chiropractors. At 11:30 when I left someone at the front desk was said: 'she's next.' I should have been next at 11:15 or even 11:20.... and again, I'm gonna say this it is a small office. The front desk could've seen me sitting there. The front desk could've seen that my paperwork hadn't moved forward. The Chiropractor's could easily see me. There are three chiropractors on site. I really don't understand why I was ignored for 30 minutes. So if you have an appointment and you feel like you're waiting too long and you see other people who came in after you being treated before you, you've been forgotten just like I have been. Twice.

Dr. Nygaard, Lesa, and Jamal at Atlas Brain and Body have all helped me immensely these last 3…read moremonths. I have had mild to moderate neck pain for the last 8-10 years (at least) that I had grown so accustomed to that I never thought about seeing a cervical spine specialist until my pain level became dire. I found out about Dr. Nygaard through a former partner who had discovered him on Google when he was having neck issues. He had a positive experience at the time, and I remembered the name and looked him up 4 years later. As a very physical person who has been doing dance, athletics, pole, and partnered acrobatics all that time, apparently I had needed to come in for a while, but at 36 years old, not bad, I finally made it. Well, it turns out my atlas went out even further, with no notable incidence, and put me in a significant amount of pain - I was at the point where I needed to lift my own head out of bed for a week and so I called and they fit me in for x-rays soon thereafter. I was able to get my first adjustment 2 days after the X-rays and noticed a good level of results immediately. Through asking Dr. Nygaard and Lesa questions in addition to casual internet research, I came to find out it's very normal for the atlas to keep going out consistently for up to 2 months or longer for most people before it starts staying in place. Because of this, I needed to go in twice a week (they are only open 2 days a week, Mon & Wed) to get my atlas adjusted, as well as a few other spots along my spine. Crazy, but I found out experientially through the pelvic/low back adjustments that my lower back pain was due to being out of alignment there too... I had no idea! Again, I just thought the level of pain/ discomfort was "normal" for someone my age. So we've been working on 4 different spots all along my spine, and my overall discomfort has gone way down. I'm very happy with the results after 3 months! It took 2 months almost to the day for my atlas to start maintaining alignment consistently, and the other work has been great too. The doctor's dog Jamal is an old, wise, friend, and helped me through it all with his gentle encouragement as well. Overall the costs have been of good value, the office has a positive vibe, the doctor is highly experienced and we'll educated, and the location is convenient. I'm fortunate enough to never have had musculoskeletal trauma, but I've spent years hunched over a computer and using smartphones. Obviously, my posture and alignment got out of whack. What a difference chiropracty has made! For the first several months, he saw me twice a week. After a while, we went to once a week, then less often. I moved out of Asheville five years ago, but he'll see me every time I visit! Since I was here two years ago, they've given up the location on Church St. and now operate a mobile clinic and accept appointments at their new "permanent" location, but they can also travel to you. Gardens of Health no longer accepts insurance, but their rates are quite reasonable.

I was very leery of going to the chiropractor 1.) The last one I went to had a weird vibe that could be interpreted as unprofessional and 2.) I'm a massage therapist, therefore a huge advocate of massage, and I had little chiropractic knowledge. My visits with Gardens of Health have been so very informative, and he told me exactly what he was doing and why as we went along, which helped me to relax. I'm so happy I gave it a chance! And that was a good thing. For our first visit, Dr. Baker really took his time in figuring out what is wrong with husband. He asked a lot of questions, did various tests, and in between exercises he'd chat with you about life and made you feel really comfortable. I'm always amazed of how physical size is irrelevant when it comes to chiropractor. Dr. Baker is about 2/3 of my husband but boy he popped him good! We are going back in 2 weeks for the next treatment but homeboy is feeling really good after the first one!
