I had my yearly terrible sinus infection a couple weeks ago and was prescribed exactly what I needed, and had two, yes TWO, follow up appointments to ensure that everything was cleared up. Furthermore, Dr. Buchbinder did some blood work to find out why this happens so often. What a difference from some crappy NYC clinic that shoves a z-pak in your face and sends you on your way. I also get weekly allergy shots at her office. Her staff is very nice, and they seem to know almost everyone who comes in by name. Unethical business practice. Be sure to triple check your itemized bills…read more I saw Dr. Patel in June to get tested for my hives. A few days later she called me to discuss my results so we spoke for a few minutes and I asked some follow up questions. At the end of the call she asked "Is it okay if I treat this as a visit?" and not knowing exactly what that meant, I said it was fine, but thought it was odd that she would ask me such a question. I had a weird suspicion that it was billing related and took a screenshot of our call after. Sure enough, 2 months later, I get a bill from them for a whopping $200 for a "physician telephone patient service". The itemized bill clearly stated "11-20 minutes of medical discussion" I couldn't believe it. Thankfully I had the screenshot to prove to them that the call lasted exactly 7 minutes and they ended up waiving the bill, but I am deeply troubled by the fact that the doctor would lie about this in the first place. What is wrong with the medical system? I'll never be going back as I don't trust her.

When he finally arrived, he didn't perform the assessment he had mentioned and instead told us that our baby needed to have blood drawn. If that was the case, why wasn't I informed of this earlier? I had to drive two hours each way for this visit, and it felt unnecessary. To make matters worse, when we arrived at the clinic to have the blood drawn, the staff couldn't find our appointment. It turned out that the name on the appointment was spelled incorrectly. How many mistakes can one office make? This experience was extremely frustrating and inconvenient.

They brought me back and nearly administered a shot I was not even meant to HAVE. I had to ask what they were doing before she realized the near error. When I finally saw the doctor, I had to explain for the third time (not including the paperwork I filled out) what I was there to have done. He was extremely rude, then proceeded to allergy test me but gave zero guidance on what he was doing, what to expect, how I should be feeling or what would happen next. It took all of 5 mins for him to see me after waiting that long and the results were inconclusive, so he sent me to a lab for additional testing. Fine. Not his fault. What is his fault is billing almost $2000!!! I have amazing insurance and still had to pay $500 out of pocket. On top of all of this, he sent me to Quest Diagnostics for additional testing which he never said was special or would be too costly. He also gave me zero guidance on which lab to go to - literally told me to Google it and acted as if I should already know. So rude. The opposite of helpful. I had additional allergy tests which they billed at $2800!!! Total billing for "standard allergy testing" ended up being $5000 and costing me $850 out of pocket! The worst part? My tests all showed up inconclusive so I don't even know what I'm allergic to! Do yourself a favor, and don't ever waste your time or money w/ Dr. Nejat.

Knowing that the alternative to getting it out at the office was a costly and time-consuming visit to the ER under general anesthesia, she stayed with me for nearly an hour, trying seven or eight times to get it out. Was this due to sinus issues/infection (not uncommon), age-related only, or something else? I found Dr. Keenan abrupt, disinterested, and almost nasty. She refused to consider my specific questions but simply sent me to the on-site audiologist, who confirmed the hearing loss and recommended a hearing aid. It felt like I'd seen a salesperson, not a physician. ENT & Allergy Associates was once an excellent MD group on East 86th Street. Now it feels like a corporate-owned money factory. I had to stop seeing her because she didn't make me feel very comfortable when I had an allergy reaction in her office, but in the end, given where I live, she is the only available doctor in my network who does shots and testing and has decent office hours. In short, don't go see her if you're a sensitive person. She's not nice. Don't go see her if you have another choice. Revising my last review about "hidden charges". I got a call from Dr. Osterweil detailing the exact…read morecharges for that visit. It was misplaced anger on my part. The situation was that a 30 minute ordinary ENT office visit warranted a $200 bill because of insurance policies that are outdated. The blame should be put on insurance companies. I'm not saying that this situation could not be avoided. If anything, I could have asked about the procedures and their cost before permission was given to perform the procedures. (It would be nice if the doctor could give a disclaimer of the price before performing the procedure as well.) The lesson learned is to take your health in your own hands! The system is not as transparent as it should be and if you ever feel any concern or ambiguity, just ask. If you read my first review, Dr. Osterweil was absolutely fantastic. Even after this debacle (in my opinion), he and his biller explained all the charges to me and also sympathized with my displeasure. What can you do? DO NOT go to this hospital unless you must. My horrific experience began when I was rushed by…read moreambulance to the Emergency Room because I was having an appendicitis. When I got there, the admitting staff in the ER was completely rude, uncaring, and not at all paying attention to what was being said (more about this later). Once I was finally transferred from the EMTs onto a gurney/bed in the ER, I laid there writhing in agony for literally an hour before a doctor came to see me. My wife begged one of the nurses to give me some pain medication. And the only rude response she got was: "He's just going to have to wait. I mean, he just got here." But then, finally, thank God, the doctor came in and he at least was EXCELLENT. Great guy. And he immediately gave me something that eased my pain and scheduled me for a CAT scan, which revealed that I had appendicitis and that I would need surgery the next day. But then, rather than actually ADMITTING ME into a room, they forced me to stay overnight on the gurney in the Emergency Room. It was a nightmare. My only comfort was a new night nurse--Chris--who came in for his shift later in the evening. He literally saved me from losing my mind. Before he came, the nursing staff and the admitting staff in ER were horrible. They were all standing around talking about boyfriends, dating, laughing loudly, and making disparaging comments about patients coming in from the stream of EMTs. Right front of one patient, an admitting staffer said, "OH, she's a mess." Another admitting staffer reeled off a list of the troubles of another patient, then said, "ya know the whole nine yards." Meanwhile, EMTs coming in and admittance staff behind counter were swearing like sailors as they talks about this or that, dropping the F-bomb all over and laughing about all kinds of things--all with patients suffering right in front of them. It was the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL atmosphere I'd ever encountered. And now comes the the worst. The incompetent admittance staff apparently entered a lot of my information into the chart wrong! So when I finally went in to have my appendectomy, the surgeon comes in and he says, "Okay, so you are 200 lbs. and 5'11." I said "WHAT!" WAIT! No! What are you talking about? I'm 175 and 5'6." He says, "Are you sure because it says 200." I said, "yes, I'm sure. I want to be weighed for the anesthesiologist." Sure enough: 172.2 lbs, NOT 200. If they would've given me general anesthesia for a 200 lb man, I'd be dead right now and not writing this. Then, when they get me into the operating room, and the assistant doctor walks in, he says, "So we have Mohammad here, right?!" And I said, "NO!!!! My name is Richard!" By now, I'm thinking I'm never going to make it. Oh, and this was unreal--when I was FINALLY being taken to the operating room, the idiot taking me up didn't even know where the operating room was! And then once we finally found it, she didn't know the code to get behind the entrance door! And then, she was confused because she didn't know the difference between the operating room and pre-op. The support staff at this hospital are extraordinarily inept. And most of them can barely speak English. Once I finally was discharged (now here is the best part) I tried to access MyChart and found a completely empty chart. I called and was told that I had declined MyChart. But that was wring. I hadn't declined anything--I was never even asked about MyChart. Also wrong was: my name; my wife's name; my address, and other information. It was like the admitting staff wasn't even paying attention to the information being given. And most weird, AFTER I tell this woman on the phone that I am home and was discharged, she says to me: "Wait you are still in the hospital, right?" Apparently, the computer was still showing me as being in a room somewhere in the hospital. I said, "NO! I just told you I'm home." I witnessed all kinds of fights between staff and patients during my night in the Emergency Room, and one poor old guy who was screaming he was freezing was told, "Sorry, we don't have any more blankets." This is New York City and a major hospital has NO BLANKETS!!!! I'm just glad I am alive to write this. AWFUL HOSPITAL! And, to add insult to injury, the LOST the flowers my sister-in-law sent to me. And when I called the Emergency Room about them, they said call Security, when I called Security, they said "we don't keep flowers, talk to Emergency," and transferred me back to Emergency. When I told Emergency that Security had no flowers, they transferred me to the front desk to a terrifically rude person who said, "We don't have any flowers" and then, as I was trying to explain that the flowers had indeed been delivered & how could I find them, just hung up on me. [NOTE: The doctor who actually performed my surgery was excellent, as was my discharge nurse for recovery post op. It seems that it's the lower support staff that truly has no idea what they're doing.]
