Very good group. I met Brett ~15 months ago at one of those dinner-shows and for once, it wasn't a watered down presentation where I don't learn anything. I picked up a bit of knowledge and decided to let them look over my information. Note that during the presentation and in line with his company's philosophy (mission statement?) is, of course, to be comprehensive, but also transparent and to offer whatever advise is best for the client. Ok, with that in mind... I met Brett and his staff with all of my info well organized. He reviewed it all and said something along the lines of: "well, looks like you're doing a great job. I'm not sure we can help you that much unless you'd like us to do the work to give you more free time". Ok. Didn't expect that sort of honesty! Very refreshing. But he did add that he wanted to review the details in my Annuity contracts as well as my Life Insurance policy. I gave him the skinny on those but he said it'd be better if he reviewed the contract itself. Ok. Provided that info. [few days later] He reviewed all that info and then advised me to exit both annuities and start another. Perhaps I'm skeptical as this raised a red flag in my mind. I asked dozens of questions and Brett provided all the answers. Amazingly, the annuity(ies) I had really were the worst. Even with the surrender charges, going into the new company he recommended was, on paper, the smart thing to do. I'm rather analytical so I really did pour over everthing - including making my own excel spreadsheet simulations, etc. I thought I'd wear him out with all my questions. I even asked about his commission and he reeled that off and how everything works. He was extremely transparent about it all. There are more positive details about this but I'll stop here. One year later, the new annuities are doing wonderfully. I mean I couldn't be happier! Plus, I back-calculated how my prior annuities would have performed and good grief - the contrast is amazing (overall, well over $100k difference). Thank goodness I'd met up with Brett and he convinced me about this change. Besides the above, he's helped me with my kids' 529 plan and some changes in my Life Insurance. ALSO, Comprehensive Advisor has periodic learning presentations that are similar to soiree's and other enjoyable events where you can meet his other clients. Of course I want to hear their stories and, so far, all of their stories seem to parrot mine. It's nice to find someone that's honest and trustworthy that puts your needs first. So far - that seems to be Brett E Gottlieb. And, not unexpectedly, it appears those qualities are also in everyone on his team that I've met. Which is an endorsement on his leadership ability. We scheduled an appt for a initial consultation 3 days in advance and we confirmed it the day of and the the day before. At the time and day of the appt his assistant calls me to tell me he's still busy and may be late. A few minutes after that, she tells me he needs to reschedule. I changed my whole day around to meet with him and this is quite disrespectful. I never even got to talk to him so I'm only speaking regarding his professionalism and reliability. read more

We've never had a financial advisor way back when we needed one, but then went to a Social Security Seminar hosted by Brett Gottlieb. We scheduled an appointment, sure we would not be acepted as clients as we had very nominal funds saved for retirement and we were both already of retirement age. Brett carefully took us through our Social Security options and we found I could apply and get spouse benefits -even with me working. That has taken us though the past 4 years, all the while meeting with Brett every 3 months. My husband and I were invited to a nice dinner at the Grand Del Mar to hear about options for optimizing Social Security benefits. It was at 6:30 in the evening and we both had to fight rush hour traffic to meet up and then it took us another hour in very slow traffic to get there. We really tried to be on time, but ended up being 10 minutes late. When we arrived they told us that they just shut the door and would not open it again for us to go in! Had we know that beforehand, at least we could have turned around and gone home once we realized we may not make it on time. Since they order the dinners in advance, they made a really big deal about letting them know ahead of time if we could not attend, so we did not want to flake and just not show up. I was shocked that they would turn us away after they made such an effort to get us there through mailings, e-mails, phone calls, etc., not to mention that it was quite rude and ill mannered. I expected it to be an interesting presentation and had just switched jobs so I was looking for a place for my 401K funds. At least I was able to find out ahead of time that these are not the type of people I would want to do business with! read more
