I called and made an appointment. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and offered coffee. The office is decorated with art and vintage model airplanes. I got into the chair and was examined by a friendly dental assistant. The dentist then came in and we chatted a bit and he asked a few questions. Nitrous oxide was offered, along with Bose noise canceling headphones and my choice of tunes : ) I went for a live Fleetwood Mac album. During my cleaning it was discovered that I had a cavity. During the procedure, Dr. Druttman explained what he was doing before he did it which made me less anxious. Most importantly...the drilling and filling was nearly painless. I left the office feeling totally at ease. I would recommend CAP city to anyone needing an excellent dentist in London, and especially to anyone who's scared of the dentist.

This was probably the best, most comfortable and professional dental experience of my life. The staff got me in right away (the next morning) and were so warm and lovely. Their offices were professional, really clean and quite state of the art. I saw a beautiful female dentist (not relevant, but she is!) who I *believe* is Dr. Danya Mougharbel, but am not positive and a really friendly female hygienist, both very professional and welcoming. The dentist discovered my gums around the crown were very inflamed and that I needed some gum surgery before the crown could be readhered, which was fine. I felt nothing -- seriously, whatever magic numbing juju they use is miraculous because I felt literally nothing and my face didn't feel like it was sliding off my head, either. Really localized anesthesia -- well done! She reseated the crown and it felt immediately 100% better. No discomfort, no pain, and my bite finally felt normal, which it never had since I'd had the crown initially applied. I was thrilled. I was a little nervous about the cost, but considering they saw me immediately, did surgery and used industrial super mega space shuttle adhesive to keep my crown on (okay, not space shuttle glue), I was pleasantly surprised by a roughly £200 bill. I wish I'd gotten my crown here to begin with! They were so helpful in sending the photos and my file to my US dentist so I could dispute their work. Really immediate customer service by the office management. Thank you, Kings Cross Dental Clinic! I want to come back for a cleaning before I go home!

Aero-Press??? Is that like French press? Well, apparently it's the latest hype on the yuppie-coffee…read morescene and being a sucker for everything exotic, fancy, weird and new, I simply had to try it. Lizzie G. actually recommended "Dose" to me when I was in desperate need of an actual dose of caffeine. No sooner said than done...I walked to Dose and I took an immediate liking to the small coffee shop. It's rather small...or tiny would be the better word, but they have a cute little nook where I can picture myself reading some bohemian-kind-of-novel! But back to the aero-press: brewing the coffee (if that is still the word that one can use) is really quite a procedure and I wonder how many years of training it takes to learn this. The machinery itself kind of reminded me a little bit of a giant syringe...a syringe with a dose of caffeine! But it's definitively an experience watching them press the coffee into the container... Once my coffee had been created (and this is actually a good word to use), I was about to carelessly add some sugar to it, when the barista suggested I should try it without sugar first. She mentioned something about this coffee being more tea-like and more delicate and thus people would usually don't drink it with sugar...and she was right, it was really tasty - naked as it was! Which brings me to the point: when are you going to try your first naked air-pressed coffee?

Yet another delightful Farringdon find!…read more A seriously tiny cafe absolutely brimming with delicious cakes, cookies, and pastries; rich, fresh, ethically-sourced coffee and the teeniest tables ever! The hot chocolate is so thick and rich you might as well eat it with a spoon, but that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh)! I haven't tried their cakes but the sight of the cheesecake brownies had me drooling and the sound of the organic ginger and Guinness cake intrigued me. Perhaps a trip back to sample some naughty treats (in the name of research) is required! A great place to stop for a shot of caffeine, a naughty cake, a quick catch-up with a friend or simply if you need a port in a storm (space-allowing!) What a little treasure!

I once met an American guy on holiday who couldn't believe that I had such nice, straight, white…read moreteeth, he was amazed because he said that there's a long standing joke about English people and their 'medieval' grins. I thought he was an idiot and retorted, "we don't all want fake, Hollywood, glow-the-dark gnashers you know!". I then started to take a look around much more closely than I had done before, and I'm sorry to say that he has a fair point. People of London, I think it's about time you gave your not-so-pearly-whites some much needed tlc. Toothplace is a dental hygienist, meaning that they carry out superficial work, so if you've got a serious problem then save that for the dentist. But, if you'd just like a clean or a general spruce up then this place is like a salon for teeth and within 30 minutes you can have a beautifully clean, shiny smile. If you can do your nails on your lunch break, why not your teeth! I had the 'High Gloss Diamond Polish' treatment that uses a power jet to blast away stains and then polish each tooth with a special paste to leave them sparkling. My mouth felt incredible afterwards, think of that great fresh feeling after you've just brushed your teeth and times it by ten. The result was definitely noticeable, they were much brighter and had glassy look about them. As the polish removes stains, such as coffee and red wine, it's a great way of maintaining dentist checkup's. They've started doing a breath freshening technique straight from (yeah, you guessed it) California, so your mouth really will be in the best shape it's ever been. They do have whitening options starting from £295, but I'd first try a clean and see if you can restore your own natural whiteness. The treatments aren't cheap, a basic clean and polish is £50. But, my theory is that I'd spend way more than that on a pair of heals, so why not my smile, after all I wear that everyday.
