Complete Tree Service This is a bit wordy. You can read the whole thing if you want but to make a long story short, Complete Tree Service did a fantastic job removing a leaning tree that was endangering my house. They far and away exceeded all my expectations. Don't think twice about hiring Complete Tree Service. Their number is 843-814-4545. The owner's name is William. He's an old timer and may seem a bit crusty, but whatever training or philosophy he imparts to his crew, works. His price was low compared to other quotes, so I was afraid what I was going to get. The work they do is worth twice as much, no, 4 times as much. If you want to know why I recommend them read the following. Yesterday we had a tree removed by Complete Tree Service. They did a fantastic job. The tree was 83' - 6" tall. At some point, perhaps during the recent hurricane, a large limb broke off about 50 ft up and was left hanging. The base of the tree was up rooted on one side which left it leaning dangerously, threatening a good part of my house. Complete Tree Service came with a good sized truck with a wood chipper on the back. The three-man crew was extremely polite, extremely professional, extremely experienced and very friendly. They took down the tree by climbing up, taking limb by limb. Initially, I was concerned that they would climb the tree to do the work but these guys were pros. The whole crew wore safety helmets with visors. The climber always used a safety harness, double safety lines and straps. The crew worked well together and, not that it matters, they seemed quite happy working together. The small branches the climber cut off were allowed to float down to the ground. Slightly larger limbs were tied off with a rope; the rope was routed through a Y between limbs located above the limb to be cut; a man on the ground controlled the other end of the rope. The limb was then cut and the man on the ground carefully lower it so as not to damage the lawn! When the limbs were large, the ground man wrapped the rope around a near-by tree to control the drop without having to apply very much back force. Unbelievable!!!. When there were no limbs above to route the rope, they strapped a carabiner onto the tree below the section to route the rope through. As they worked the way down, they lower and placed two large limb sections next to each other the bottom. Then, where they were low enough, sections were dropped onto the limits that protected the ground. Its hard to describe, you would have to see it, but they used several different methods depending on the situation, exhibiting their extensive experience and training. I hope I'm not giving away any of their trade secrets. I hate heights, and usually I cannot watch people working high-up, but watching how safely they did it, I even felt comfortable watching. That's not to say it wasn't a bit scary as the climber climbed to nearly the top of the tree. While they were working, a storm moved in. I could hear thunder in the distance. This particular tree was so high I was afraid it would be struck by lightning while the climber was working and I became concerned for the climbers' safety. As I found out later, it had been struck by lightning. Without me having to say anything, the climber repelled down, came over to me, and calmly said they were going wait for the storm to pass. He said, "don't worry, as soon as the storm passes, I will go back up and we would finish the job." The storm passed and they continued cutting down the tree. One section of the tree about 40 or 50 ft up was split apart. Upon examination, you could see the wood was burnt from a lightning strike that happened some time before. When they got to the base of the tree, the climber focused on the trunk, wanting to cut it as close to the ground as possible using a larger chain saw. As he started, he had a problem with the saw. After his inspection, apparently the blades were a bit dull. One worker, anticipating the issue, returned from the truck with a tool to sharpen the blade. I don't know much about sharpening a chain saw blade but I could sense the climber's experience as I watched him methodically sharpen each of the numerous points on the saw. After that, he took the trunk down to about an inch above the grade. They chopped up the limbs and loaded the larger pieces into the truck by hand. The next shocker I got was the cleanup! Using a leaf blower and a rake they cleaned up every little branch and leaf, and even the wood chips from the tree trunk! They even cleaned up my neighbor's yard and driveway!!! When they finished, there was no evidence they were even there! They left the lawn in perfect shape. Don't tell William, the guy who owns the company, but if I had known what kind of job they were going to do I would have happily paid him twice as much. As it was I gave the crew a tip. I wish I had more money in my wallet to give them. They far and away exceeded my expectations. read more

For a very long time I had been looking for a company to come out and give me a price on trimming some trees at 2 houses. One with tall pines and one with many large oaks. I had contacted several companies and not one of them sent anyone out to speak with me nor did they contact me to say they weren't coming. I had previously used another tree company who I felt was the best and quite frankly didn't want to take a chance on my oaks. However, they became so expensive and eventually they, too, failed to follow up with me. So, then I met William. After hearing so many people speak so highly of him, I asked him for a card. Some time went by and I was in a bind with some extremely tall pines that were threatening a house (and had already dropped many limbs, damaging the roof a number of times) so I contacted William and told him my situation. He came out and took a look and said he could be there in the next few days. He and his crew were there, and on time. They were already hard at work when I got there. Not only were they courteous and professional, but they were genuinely concerned for me and the house. One man came out of the tree to make William aware of another large pine tree that he noticed was dangerous and needed to come down. They informed me that I may want to consider removing it at some point but that it wasn't a concern at that moment. I was very thankful. From there the crew steadily worked. It was truly fascinating to see how talented these guys were. It took many years of experience to be able to calculate, from way up in a tree, exactly what to do in order to tie off, hang on, cut, and remove a long, huge limb so that it swung out and came down within inches of, but without harming, the roof or anything around it. Watching from the ground was gut wrenching because it was so close, and I had not idea what was going to happen. But, after seeing the first one come down with such precision my mind was completely at ease. The crew removed all the limbs and debris from the area and finished by blowing off the roof and ground. William also answered any questions I had for him about the proper way to prune limbs and offered all sorts of insight with regard to trees and how to tell if they're dead or not and what it means when you see bark falling off of a tree. When I tell you, I have been searching for a tree company for a long time, I am not exaggerating-it's been years. I have finally found someone who is extremely knowledgeable and isn't willing to take any shortcuts, but instead, does it the right way from the beginning. Therefore, I absolutely trust Complete Tree Service, which means I can finally get my oak trees pruned. The work that William and his crew did was impressive-they ran like a well-oiled machine out there. There were and are, without a doubt, TOP NOTCH! William and his guys are absolutely fabulous. We have used Complete Tree Service twice in the last few months and both times have been perfect. The first round of trees we had cut down were a fairly large cypress and an oak that was quite tall, the guys arrived on time, worked quickly and had both of the trees down in no time without evidence that they were there, except the missing trees. Then a week ago my husband saw William driving by and just happened to catch him again and immediately started talking about more tree removal, with William coming down on a Saturday to look at the trees and make a plan. The guys came out today and once again quick, efficient and even though they had a big job to do had it done a cleaned up in no time. These guys work hard and William takes care of them. William Platt's crew arrived bight and early on a very warm day and went right to work on removing a 60' pine tree and four smaller trees, all of which were right up against the side of the house. On other large trees, they removed all large branches which were overhanging the house's roof and carport. They also trimmed, per Mr. platt's recommendation, smaller branches for the health of large live oaks in front yard. All debris was removed from the site by the end of the day. William's crew were mindful of exactly what work was needed and what was not. Their ability to work at dizzying heights and their athletic skills were amazing. Complete Tree Service removed a large oak from my property on 6/12/17. It was close to the house, property line, brick surround for the HVAC system and right on top of sprinkler heads. Needless to say, it was a very challenging job. From start to finish, I was convinced that I had chosen the right company. Mr. Platt allayed any fears that I had as he explained in detail how the job would proceed. His crew arrived on time, got to work quickly, worked with precision and left my property, as well as my neighbor's, in pristine condition. Everything went perfect. They came out promptly for the estimate, and once hired, they immediately took care of everything that had to be done prior to removing the tree. Contacted them a few days before Hurricane Irma was supposed to hit. We had a big tree in our backyard that we feared was going to crush our house with strong winds and rain. They came out right away and assessed the tree and it's potential to fall. They sent a crew of 4 guys on a Sunday morning who were amazing. They safely removed the tree without damage to our fence, house, or yard and cleaned up everything. I've never had better service from any business. Their price was fair, they were punctual, and to watch that crew work was such an amazing experience. The anticipation of having someone climb that tall leaning tree was frightening, but they put my mind at ease immediately and commanded that tree.
