We are 4 seasoned, high end world travelers from both coasts of the USA…read more Tor planned a trip to Iceland for us that fulfilled our dreams. He did not ask for money up front and edited our itinerary as needed. You have to put on your "big boy pants" and tell Tor what you want and don't want in a tour, and he delivers! You of course must proofread your itinerary and ask questions by text, phone and email and that is how you get a life changing adventure. He obviously picked the best hotels and restaurants, but what was stellar, was his careful selection of people and places that we were so hospitably treated to. We were guided by an architect and outdoorsman, named Waldi, who is one of Iceland's many, especially beautiful people, who date their Icelandic families back to the original 7! We flew by private helicopter to the top of E15, the world famous volcano that erupted and sent ash veiling Europe in 2010. Gisli Gislison, our helicopter pilot, a friendly modern day Viking, soared us through a visual extravaganza in the sky! He made our tour a personal and mind blowing trek onto a cloud ringed glacier with fresh perfect snow in the stratosphere! We shuffled through a pristine white field on a volcano peak glacier in the sky to the edge of everything...where blue snow and the bluest horizon met in silence and purest sunlight . He deftly soared us over the island as if we were riding in a convertible on a Sunday afternoon, laughing and pointing at his favorite childhood spots for a view of boiling streams, frolicking Rams, smoking vents, hot rivers, and sea lions basking in azure waters (who dived and rolled for us when we buzzed closely over head). He pointed out his favorite sea side lobster restaurant, GIANT ELVES, Icelandic horses, lava fields and treated us to a colossal mosaic of colored ice, land and sea creating unimaginable art that we had never heard described and that was a sparkling spectacle forever indelible in our memories. Tor sent us into the wilderness of "SNIFFLESNEEZE" as we fondly called the Icelandic name for a national park, on the western peninsula. We stayed in a fantastic small gourmet hotel featured in a mystery on the NETFLIX series "THE LAVA FIELD". The food was amazing, the SUMMER sun never set on this iddillic country manor , with freely roaming sheep, fields of wild flowers that put Monet to shame, and an antique church with its quaint and beautiful graveyard that told stories of struggles love and loss in a small heroic community. We took a space aged trek into the world's only man made ice caves, burrowed by industrious farmers and colored by hidden lights. Our guide was a singing performance artist whose angelic voice echoed Icelandic ballads off the dripping catacomb. The vehicle that conveyed us was a ginormous converted Russian Missile launcher with 5 foot wide deflatable wheels (they have an app for that!) Should you book a tour with Tor? I SAY YOW BEST OF ALL, we sat at our hotel 101 window and cheered with the joyous country as they clapped and stomped their war cry approval to a world first victory cup over Great Britain in football.

We could have done better with Expedia. He found no better flights than we found. When we asked…read morehim about booking connections for transportation from airports to hotels or from Rome to Florence. He said he could do that . . . for a price. And the hotel he booked for us in Rome was a $30 cab ride each way between the hotel and any of the major tourist attractions. When we got there, we contacted Tor, who told us it was our fault for not checking in advance. What did we need a travel agent for, if not for things like making sure we were well located?!

I have rented many vehicles in the past, never from Hertz and never again. The mess started the…read morenight before we were supposed to pickup the vehicle. My wife called in to verify the pickup location, they explained that the vehicle has been moved, the new location is 25 minutes from my house instead of 5. No big deal, it happens. I arrive the next morning to an empty office. No agent, just a note on the door stating the person would be back. After waiting patiently for about 20 minutes i called the number on the door. My call was answered by the St. Charles office, the gentleman who answered simply stated that the agent should be back any minute. I waited another 10 minutes and called back, this time the only thing i was told was that he does not know where the agent is and he should be there. By this point i am almost an hour late departing from my planned trip. It was only after calling another Hertz office that i was informed that the vehicle is at the Penske Rental it was initially supposed to be at, the one 5 minutes from my house. So i make the drive to Penske and meet the most passive aggressive unfriendly person i have ever encountered. My hint should have been the neatly printed warning not to write on the front counter that read something to the effect of "if you or your children want to write on the counter like Kindergartners we will be happy to charge you a $100 clean up fee." The gentleman that worked there was just awful, he must have been born without people skills or something. He never explained any of the charges (i will get to that in a bit), and said everything in a sort of sarcastic tone as if our presence was bothering him. We picked up the van, which was an almost new Kia, in great shape, and very clean. When we dropped the van back off 3 days later we once again met Mr Personality. We had to wait again about 15 minutes because he was just too busy doing something else to take 30 seconds to walk over and get the key. This in itself was an awful experience, the train wreck of picking up the vehicle delayed my trip by over 2 hours. But it wasn't over yet. My wife went to an ATM to withdraw cash and noticed something not right. She checked the transaction log and noticed we had an additional 300 something dollar hold on our account. We had been charged for the total amount of the rental up front, and now we have this mystery charge. We called Hertz and they explained that Mr Personality at Penske charged us incorrectly, but also the hold was pretty standard practice and should drop off in a few days. NONE of this was explained to us up front. I rent vehicles at least once a year, but often 2 or three times a year. Not only will i be sure to never rent from Hertz again,i am going to steer others away from potentially having the same frustrating experience i have had.

I worked here 10 or so years ago, as the Porter/RV Detailer. After reading all of these reviews,…read moreI'm laughing hysterically at how they still haven't changed. When I quit, the douche owner said I'd never amount to anything other than being a Walmart greeter. I should add, I was willing to put in two weeks before leaving, but Ryan told me he'd just consider that day my last day....AKA technically FIRED. He also refused to give me my last check. Well, he lost a fight with the labor board AND unenmployment, against me. He had an attorney, and I didn't, and was just a 21 year old kid at the time. These idiots FORGED a 1099 form supposedly filled out by me.....but my name was spelled wrong. How the hell would I spell my own name wrong? Had I thought faster, I would have gotten them for signature forgery. They also lied to the judge about what my job was, and even she knew they were full of it. A few years later, I was trying to get another trucking job (Walmart, eh?), and Ryan, the owner, LIED and said I had never worked there. Well, got the job, buddy. Now, I'm working an even better trucking job, 1500-2000 a WEEK. Much better than the measley, $9 an hour, under the table, with a forged 1099 you were paying me. These guys are CROOKED. I worked here for almost 2 years. STAY. AWAY.

RUN AWAY! Rented an RV over the weekend. Upon returning it we informed the owner, Ryan, that all of…read morethe water features: kitchen sink, toilet, and shower leaked. The shower leaked so bad it was running from the walls so we didn't use these features as intended. Ryan's response was that per section 9c of the rental contract, he does not have to guarantee anything other than the vehicle itself works. Reading other reviews it seems he doesn't even do this. I wish I would have read the other reviews before giving him any kind of business. All of the negative reviews are not a conspiracy- it's a pattern of horrible customer service and business management. Avoid so you can have a pleasant trip. Edit- we contacted Cruise America Corporate and they were helpful and apologetic after learning of our interaction with the owner of this location. We will not be giving THIS location any more business and warning others to stay clear.
