I think the closing down of an entire practice in less than 3 months was very disrespectful to all the patients who been seeing these physicians for almost 20 years. Leaving us patients very little time to find replacement pcp's (doctors)and then a lot of us have to find pain doctors on top of this is outlandish. I knew it was going downhill when my doctor said he could no longer prescribe me my benzodiazepines or the company was going to fine him. That's really messed up. I had been on Xanax for years. It took me almost 4 months to find a psychiatrist to prescribe them for me. This company brought in very unknowledgeable PA's who didn't know how to do prior authorizations. As a former registered nurse I wouldn't take my animal to these people. read more

I have read the other reviews and find my experience to be quite different, My doctor is Dr Bradshaw. He has always taken time to talk to me about any concerns I might have, and ask me questions that he notes while we talk. After that, he does whatever exams may be needed. I have always been able to be worked in when things came up like a car accident, concerning symptoms, etc. He is not a pill pusher and is willing to give me time to pursue other ideas before we make a decision. I hope that doesn't change with the name change and all that goes with it. I have experienced a coupleof prickly staff members, but I am an "everybody has a bad day" person, so I don't take it personally. The office is clean and I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. I love that they do labs in office so I don't have to go and wait somewhere else. I have recommended this practice to others. Unless the changes are drastic and untenable for me, I will stay there. read more

This PCP practice is a direct example why people are going to the Emergency Rooms, Urgent Care and spending the money for concierge medicine unnecessarily. Rude staff and MDs who are unwilling to work or accommodate for patients who need their help. Avoid this practice if you really need a caring doctor. read more

Unfortunately my mother passed away in October, I hadn't spoken with her for several months. After her passing I called James River Internists to learn how I could obtain her medical history, primarily because I wanted to know if she had illnesses that my children and I could be prone to later in life because of our shared DNA. It was precautionary and an effort to be informed about my family's potential health concerns. After stating my case, I spoke with the most rude, inconsiderate nurse. As a nurse, one would think she would be compassionate and sympathetic for my loss, not this lady of 25 years of experience, she impolitely told me there is no way I can get information from them, that NO ONE was designated by my mother to access her records, not even her husband. I have since learned she was lying, she told me that if I "wanted to know about my mother's health history, reason for her demise I should have talked to her more often". Even after I asked for the process to obtain the information, she said there is no process for me unless I was identified while she was still alive. I asked to speak with my mother's doctor, she told me "there is no way the doctor will talk to you". In other words, she blocked every attempt to learn what I can do to be informed about something as critical as my own potential health based on my mother's history. This is unfathomable. Makes me wonder why they are so opposed to being helpful, are they hiding something? Don't go to this practice unless you don't mind being treated terribly, without compassion. read more

I would not recommend this practice at all. The nursing staff was the most unfriendly and cold I have met in a long time. My initial (first visit) was met with no welcome and no warmth. Dr. Stringer seemed very knowledgable but I felt like I was not welcome or wanted. The statement "here are the rules" turned me off completely. Since I was in the healthcare field for a decade I can tell you that recovery is often about personal attitude and this practice was the opposite. I'm sorry but I have to tell the truth to others. I wasn't even a patient of theirs yet. I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Anna Vedina but I had to reschedule it due to the snow that was coming. When I called, I spoke with a rude receptionist by the name of Lexi. I asked her could she reschedule it and she said what was the appointment for. I told her that I was having some problems with my stomach and I wanted the doctor to run some tests to see what the problem could be and if I could also have a physical that would be great as well. She said well she schedules her physicals differently. So I said that was perfectly understandable. The next appointment she had available was for a day and time that wasn't convenient for me. So I asked her was there any way I could see another doctor due to the severity of the stomach issue I was having, she told me with a rude tone that the doctors don't like when you go back and forth between them. Now my whole problem with that is that would make sense if I was already a patient but I'm not. I haven't even seen a doctor yet. So that was just a dumb comment to me. So I then said to her there's no other way for me to see a doctor earlier than what she was giving me because of the problem I was having. She said, again with a rude tone, that what I needed wasn't really a check up, it was a physical. Ummm what??? So obviously I told her well ma'am just cancel the appointment I'll just have to find someone else because this issue needs to be looked into as soon as possible. She acted like I had said something to offend her. So she then said okay and literally hung up in my face. Didn't say have a nice day or anything. Not only did she seem bothered by the fact I couldn't take the appointment but she also tried to debate about what my appointment reason should be for. Like who in the hell behaves that way! Whoever handles the office staff REALLY needs to get control of her because she's clearly in need of some customer service training. If you're looking for a PCP that will: fit you in for a sick visit within a week of actually getting sick, allow you to advocate for yourself, give you more than 0.5 seconds to respond when asked a question, doesn't send you to the local hospital for basic lab work, make you feel like your time is valuable, physically examine you when you're sick, and not actively try to throw you out of their office after 3 min of discussion... I suggest skipping James River Internists. I wasn't recovering well from pneumonia and called them on Dec 18, 2019 to make an appt for further evaluation at the direction of an urgent care physician. I was given an appointment for Jan 17, 2020. Before I was even evaluated, my physician decided to put me on an allergy medicine, tell me to see an allergist and pulmonologist and send me on my way. I hastily explained more of my symptoms which finally prompted a brief listen to my lungs and a peek at my ears, which lead to the discovery of fluid in my ears and a sinus infection. When I also attempted to ask about changing a medicine I am currently taking, my physician got short with me and said that I since I was "worked in as a sick visit" that I would need to make a different appointment to discuss maintenance of my medications. I had to wait 30 days for a sick visit. Waiting 30 days for a "sick" visit is unreasonable. Waiting 30 days to be seen constitutes a regular visit, and being shooed out of the office was irritating and disappointing. I am now looking for a new PCP. I absolutely do not recommend this office. read more

Nice office. Dr. Vedina has been my doctor for a few years and I like her. HOWEVER, I visit the doctor once a year just for my well woman's visit. This visit and all its associated labs are covered through my insurance. EVERY SINGLE YEAR they do not code my visit correctly and I get a $200+ bill from Labcorp. EVERY YEAR I remind them about my visit and labs being covered and how to code it. EVERY YEAR I go back and forth between the Labcorp and the ONE person at the office that does billing who is only there a few selected days a week and NO ONE ELSE can do billing, trying to get them to fix the coding and resubmit. EVERY YEAR I end up paying the full bill that I shouldn't have had to pay out of exhaustion and refusal to let my credit be affected. I am seeking a different primary care office for this reason. I have no problem paying when I'm supposed to. But I'm not about to get money taken from my check to pay for insurance and then not have that insurance cover what it is supposed to because your office can't figure out how to code a visit. Very upset to have to leave my physician, but the unnecessary cost is not worth it. read more

To the person who reviewed Dr. Vedina maybe you should try another doctor. I never have issues with billing. I have Dr. Stringer and it took me years to find a doctor that takes the time to actually be a doctor. He doesn't let me get away with anything, Meaning he pushes me in a positive way about getting me healthy and happy, and he is great at asking the appropriate questions and getting to the bottom of any issue I have ..If I can't explain it right he will keep pushing until we are at a agreement on my health issue and makes sure I am satified.He makes it very easy to be completely open and honest about your health, doesn't judge and really understand a person as a patient not a number. read more
